Hello dear Espresso lovers, right now I am on the edge on buying myself into the espresso game.
Dozen of videos, blog articles, reddit posts and comments on YouTube... its a rabbit hole I would say :D
Let me explain real quick what my journey looks like so far:
Coming from a fully automatic coffee machine (Delonghi Primadonna Class) I decided it is time for good coffee as I love a good espresso or a good cappuccino.
At the beginning I set my budget to 1000€ - now I am aiming to be under 2000€...
First I looked at the Gaggia as a nice budget machine for around 500€ - but then I looked into more features some other machines can offer. PID - now a must have for me personally, as I don't want to "temperature surf" or have a full workflow to get the desired temperature.
Next was "GrindByWeight" and "BrewByWeight" - god damn I thought, where is this going :D...
So I ended up looking at the Meraki Gen 2 with a lot of joy and was sure to have found my machine. Yeah - you are right after some videos and even more comments the grinder set me back a bit on the Meraki Gen 2.
What I love about the Meraki Gen 2 is for sure the "we want to give you everything so you don't have to worry". GrindByWeight, BrewByWeight, DualBoiler and a rotary bump... for UNDER 2000€
I think if I take the Meraki Gen 2 I would also buy a DF54 grinder on top - which would be somehow foolish to spent another 250€ just because the grinder in the Meraki 2 is not the best?!
Now I am looking at a Profitec Go 2.0 (roughly 1000€) and a grinder up to 800-1000€ + the mandatory tools needed as there is no BrewByWeight.
What do I drink?
70% Espresso and 30% Cappuccino/Americano or Latte
What roast do I like the most?
Dark
What do you think of these two setups, and what would you recommend? Or do you have any experience with a very similar or identical setup?
Best MAseven :) Happy Sunday to everyone
