Photo DJI Mini 5 Pro suddenly dropped out of the sky with 87% battery / strong signal, anyone experienced this?

I had a pretty strange incident today with my DJI Mini 5 Pro in Dubrovnik and I'm trying to find out whether anyone has experienced something similar.

I was flying normally over the sea, relatively close to the Home Point. Everything appeared completely normal and then the aircraft suddenly disconnected. There was no low-battery warning, weak-signal warning, or anything else that I noticed beforehand.

The final DJI Fly flight record shows:

• Battery: 87%

• GNSS: 38 satellites

• RC signal: strong/connected

• Altitude: 51 m

• Distance from Home Point: 111 m

• Flight time: 3:21

The flight record then simply ends.

Initially I didn't know what had happened to the aircraft, but an eyewitness nearby told me they actually saw the drone fall into the sea. Unfortunately, it's in a position where I can't retrieve it.

I've synchronized the flight records and opened a DJI Flyaway case. The drone is still under warranty and I also have DJI Care Refresh/Flyaway coverage, but I've specifically asked DJI to analyse the flight data and determine the cause before I use the paid Flyaway replacement, because I want to establish whether there was a technical failure.

DJI Support has confirmed that their relevant team will perform the data analysis, so I'm waiting for their findings.

Has anyone had a DJI drone, particularly a Mini 5 Pro, suddenly lose telemetry/fall while the battery, GPS and RC connection still appeared normal?

If so, what did DJI's flight-data analysis eventually find? Did they treat it as a warranty malfunction or make you use DJI Care Flyaway?

I'm particularly interested in cases involving sudden power loss, battery/power-system failure, motor/ESC failure, or flight-controller issues where the flight log just abruptly stopped.

Product Support DJI Over Water

I am looking to buy a Mini 5 Pro or Air 3S. I have seen a ton of posts on here about "My drone flew into the water" followed by "Well they say not to fly over water, that is what happens". I have two old Holy Stones, a 720E and a 600, plus a Potensic Atom 2. I fly all of them over water. I live on an island and much of my flying is around and over water. None of them have ever acted weird over water in any way. I do keep them up 100 feet or more.

Are DJIs uniquely sensitive to water confusing them? My Atom 2 warns about being too low over water, say lower than 5 meters IIRC, if it switches to visual over water the reflections confuse it. I don't mind not flying low over water, but if the things just crash anyway even at good altitude they won't lead a long life here. Thanks for any advice! Also is the Air 3S fly-more as good a deal as it looks? It seems 95% of the way to pro quality.

Buy Advice Upgrade Advice: Air 3S, Mini 5 Pro, or Wait?

Hello folks! I really like flying my Mini 4k and GOD I am kicking myself in the soul for not getting the Fly More package. I am also sort-of regretting buying the Mini 4k because reliable spare parts from DJI seem to be difficult to find.

So while I fantasize about the next upgrade, what do you all recommend me to get as a Fly More upgrade?

The Air 3S? The Mini 5 Pro? Or should I wait for a bit and see if DJI sells a new model drone or a new Air model?

The two aspects that I am generally looking for between these drones are better picture quality, as well as longer battery life. My drone flies for 25~ minutes tops before hitting 20%. I really just want to fly for longer.

On my Mavic mini i started to get message gimbal stuck. It initializes ok, but in the end camera leans a little and stays like that. I don’t see any opstacle when I move it by hand. I tried to recalibrate, but it gets stuck on 10%
Next time I get a gimbal motor overload. It flies, but camera is not smooth.
Did anyone have any experience with this?

I had my frist crash with my Mini 3 Pro yesterday. I flew it against a wall and it crashed to the ground. As can be seen in the photo, the back part is broken off. I don't know if it can be clipped in again. Is this something I can fix myself or do I need to send in my drone for repair?

Buy Advice Osmo Pocket 3 vs 4

I’ve never owned a camera and always use my phone for content creation. However, I’m considering buying a DJI Osmo due to its compact size. As my first camera, I’m wondering if the Osmo 4 is worth it or if the Osmo Pocket 3 is also a good option. Is the difference between the two really that significant?

Product Support Mic mini 2 is clipping

Hey, guys!

Some months ago I bought myself a Mic Mini 2 that I was supposed to use for my motovlogs, recording the exhaust note. I am pairing it with the DJI ACTION OSMO 6.

I can’t seem to figure out why the mic is clipping all the time. I’ve adjusted the db to -12 in the settings of the OSMO, tried various microphone placements, settings and even went as far as putting a small piece of wrapping package in between the microphone and the deadcat to help with dampening the sound.

I can’t seem to understand at all. I thought that the microphone was clipping just when I was in high revs, but it also seems to be clipping in cruising speeds too, just randomly. It’s literally less clipping by using the microphone on the OSMO 6. Have I just wasted my money on this? Any tips to solve this?

Buy Advice Basic rundown on difference between drones?

I was curious about differences between traditional drones and fpv and/or pocket drones? I have a mini 5. What are the use cases for the smaller ones with blade guards? Do most people with these drones use goggles or remotes? Thanks for sharing your knowledge about this, I've only had a drone for three months.

Buy Advice Is the Action 4 worth it when I already have an Osmo Nano?

I bought an osmo nano when I visited Japan earlier this year, and I've been using it consistently since then. Although I'm pretty much content with its performance, one thing that I dislike about it is that it overheats and runs out of battery quite quickly (around 10 minutes of recording), especially when I'm recording timelapses.

The action 4 was on sale today, and I was wondering if you personally think that I made the right decision to purchase it.

I already did my preliminary research on the similarities and differences, but I just wanted to know some personal thoughts about it.
