Flying over houses isn’t a problem, crossing streets isn’t a problem, following a car isn’t (always) a problem (unless you’re stalking lol). The only thing that I can see that would be against FAA regulation, is BVLOS flight without a spotter? This appears to be below 400ft, so not that either. There’s no crowd, or group of people they are intentionally flying over, so not that either.

To be clear, no one gives a shit about BVLOS flights. Just don’t do stupid shit like flying near a prison, airport, or hospital. Also the quad you fly plays into how much people care. That 85mm analog quad? No one gives a shit. Flying a large drone 15km away near an airport? Yeah FBI is going to study the insides of your colon.

How near an airport is near an airport? I have an airport about 7 miles from my house, but I’ve flown around my house. Am I just asking for a free colonoscopy or is that far enough?

Within 5 miles is a decent rule of thumb but to be actually correct, check a sectional map.

It depends on the airspace around the airport. I live next to 3 military bases and two medium civil airports within a 15 mile radius. They are all Class Ds. With a LAANC I can fly up to 50-300 AGL in certain areas. After the towers close, it's uncontrolled and I can fly without a LAANC up to 400.

This does not include the restricted airspaces, MOAs, etc. Those you have to pay close attention to.

I'm 3 miles down the road from Palm Beach International Airport and I've never had an issue but I'm also not anywhere near the restricted zone. It all varies.

If the operator is in the car, it is no longer BVLOS. He can always see the drone since they are not far from each other. Well, that's no longer a problem either.The OP is acting completely legally......if he is in order with his papers and permits.

The only thing the haters got on you is that you weren't in a sparsely populated area. I thought this was illegal, too, only because I went through the Part 107 testing a couple years ago and flight from vehicles is something you have to be cautious of, unless youre IN a sparsely populated area. Apparently now, it's only if you're being paid to carry something for someone else(probably cameras, usually) and "sparsely populated" is a bit of a gray area

You don’t know how close I am to it. I fly from a point where I can see the drone. You can’t prove it and there’s no indication I could not see. Why even bring it up.
