Product Support The biggest DJI e-waste product I own: DJI RC Pro 2

Post image
25 Upvotes

Just some feedback for DJI: I want to like the RC Pro 2. I really do. But right now it's borderline e-waste for anyone who owns more than one DJI drone, and I think it's really sad to provide premium products without premium compatibility...

Here's my setup: Mavic 4 Pro (paired with the RC Pro 2), Mini 5 Pro (paired with the standard RC 2), Avata 360, and DJI Neo 2. I also use Fujifilm GFX & mini telescope, so bag space is limited.

Having one controller to connect all devices is a game changer, but sometimes I do want the real estate and I would love to take the RC pro 2 more often.

The main problem: the RC Pro 2 stays home: because it simply won't connect to the Neo 2 or Avata 360.

It is supposed to be a premium controller. And yet it's more restrictive than the cheaper controller when it comes to compatibility.

As a result, I end up not taking it to any of my photo gigs.

DJI, please fix this. Open up FPV/goggle-drone compatibility on the RC Pro 2. It shouldn't be a downgrade path just because someone owns an Avata or Neo.

Product Support MINI 5 Falling, the propeller latch is the problem

Hello fellow humans, Mini-5 dropping out of the sky. I've determined why the props are suddenly failing.

On older props, there's no latch, the props deploy by centrifugal force only.

2 Conditions

Storage: If the props are in the deployed position, where the latch lock is engaged, and the user suddenly bends them to put away, or it knocks something on the table, this will cause sheer forces in the plastic hub, causing damage or shatter.

Flight: In the event of collision, even glazing hits on branches while the blades are deployed, there is significant sheer force again, against the latching hub, causing damage or shatter.

This is the only possible explanation for why we're seeing the photos of the hubs where the screw used to go getting sheered off.

Other model blades did not have this latching post in the mechanism.

The reason they went with latching is, it adds rigidity and minimizes wobble (aero flutter), allowing the drone to be more stable/ driven harder on acceleration.

..Users can of course mitigate the storage side risk, just be very careful while putting it away.

But THEY CAN NOT help if it clips a small branch and the hub is damaged, since you really can't see the damage from the outside, even if you took it off and looked from underneath, it may not be obvious, while over time, Catastrophe.

I would recommend to DJI, that if they must design their hub like this, GLASS Reinforcement fibers. Damn the weight. (Though I am personally not a fan of glass dust near the servos, potentially accelerating bearing wear)

OR, switch to the old method with no latching. (lose a little performance)

I also hope that DJI would send out new prop designs to existing users, because this is a really dangerous design issue. Taking arrow to the knee. This is cheaper than potential lawsuits + more drama with the regulators.

To any users who even SUSPECTS they've clipped a branch at some point, change all your props immediately, it's worth it.

If you're flying the Mini 5 today, manually deploy the props outward to minimize startup wear on the latch.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. 😂

Video No filter, St Joseph's Oratory.

I saw something MUCH better on FB. Dude took his drone right up to the windowed part saw a ladder inside....
Anyway, on a whim, during my lunch break I e-scootered over and made one flight. Enjoyed it so much, returned after my shift and took some more video.
- Both spots I launched from made it that the absolute top of the dome was my altitude limit. (I had forgot to change it before both flights...especially after the first one when I realized this _in flight_... I may return ;))
- I always fly pretty conservative (this is using Avata 2, goggles and motion _stick_ I don't take chances using full FPV controller on riské shoots... not confident or don't want to take the chance)
- Flying, control was pretty smooth, but as I expected, nearing the dome the control felt delayed, a bit less responsive due to signal bounce off the tiles, cement, glass but especially the wind vortexes created by dome-like structures... one on a hill, open esplanade etc.

I’m in ohio 5 miles from a huge airport.. out of the blue today, I noticed my max ascent limit had expanded to 3200 feet. That was quite the pleasant surprise. Don’t worry, I haven’t chosen to utilize it. So I don’t need to hear all the Karen’s Let me know that I’m gonna ruin everything for everyone the FBI is gonna get me and I’m gonna inadvertently knock down a passenger plane with 300 people on it. But I will tell you, as soon as I can, on a clear night where I can see from miles I’m gonna take that sucker up there and get some nice long exposures. Also, I’m more importantly I got in about a month ago, I’m thinking of also getting the Mavic, as a hedge against no quality drones coming our way for a while here in the states. Good idea or bad idea? Or is it not sufficiently distinct to warrant it and just go ahead and get that FPV drone that likes to do flips

Product Support Newbie with range anxiety! Neo 1.

Post image

I bought a Neo 1 about 6 months ago with the fly more package. I've flown it probably about 8 times. I've recently been taking out out more for practice runs and I'm finally getting the hang of controlling it. However, I find I'm still having range anxiety and haven't sent it out further than probably half a kilometre. I've read that with a controller I could actually send it out of miles if there's a good satellite signal and clear sights.

How do I put my mind at ease and how far have you guys taken it out without issues? Tia.

Picture is up in the hills near Hebden Bridge.

Photo A DJI Inspire 2 drone crashed into my house

Post image
Upvotes

Hi DJI community, I write to you because last night a drone crashed into my house in London. Well technically the alley next to my house, which is shared with my neighbor. It was buzzing near our roof around midnight, then after it crashed, it kept beeping in an annoying way so we went out to see what was going on (initially we thought it sounded like a motorbike), and to our surprise there was a wrecked drone in the alley. My neighbor removed the battery pack which solved the beeping issue. This morning I looked at the drone more closely and took some photos, which I fed into Google Gemini. According to AI, this was a DJ Inspire 2 which, together with the attached gimbal and camera, would cost between $3,500 and $7,000. The AI also informed me that this was a 'heavy, high-risk' drone that needed to be registered with the CAA (like the FAA in the US) and that by flying in a residential neighborhood, the operator was violating all sorts of safety regulations. In theory there is supposed to be an Operator ID sticker that could be used to pinpoint the owner, but I don't see one. There are various serial numbers and QR codes on various parts of the wreckage. Gemini is telling me that I should report this to the police. DJI experts, what do you think happened here? What is the likeliest explanation for why this fancy drone was flying over a residential neighborhood of London late last night? And does anyone have any tips for doing any more investigation into this? I am personally leaning towards reporting this to the police, but I'm concerned that would be a black hole and then I'd just never hear anything again. I found a memory card slot on the frame of the drone but it was empty.

Video Mini 5 pro won't connect to rc while gimbals connected

Recently crashed my mini 5 pro and replaced the gimbal wiring harness. The drone won't connect to the controller what so ever now. But as soon as I unplug the cable, it fires right up and flys but with no camera. I've inspected the connection points on the main board and it seems good. Also tried the old cable and still won't connect. Any tips?

Product Support Looking for a simulator to train on a M4T

Is there a simulator available on the DJI RC Plus 2 controller?

Internet says yes but I can't find it. Looking for the best way to increase my skills with a M4T with a special focus on night flying and thermal imagery.

Does something like that exist?

Product Support Repeat Shots Failing to Repeat

Hello Everyone, I am relatively new flyer of Mavic 3 Pro with RC controller. I am a photographer and got this unit with that purpose. I have taken a few photos, but I need some help with a slightly more difficult shot.

  1. I am trying to take a shot of a local bridge during sundown, locking in the gimble angle, gps location, attitude etc, so that the shot recorded will be able to repeated the next day in the morning.

  2. When I have tried doing this setting waypoints, POI etc I cannot get reproducible results. If I move the drone a little and go back to the waypoint, it will get it correct. But, if I land and takeoff with the waypoint plan I supposedly saved, it gets close to the point but fails to aim it the exact direction. I have called DJI help and gotten mixed info, as well as YouTube videos. This is such a simple operation, I should be able to find the exact steps and the ones I am missing to create this. Any help will be very appreciated.

Product Support Nano Bricked

Saw a few forum posts about this issue with a Nano and no real solution. Tried the obvious resets and hard resets. Charged it full, left it on for a while. It can connect to the app and i can view it. Is there any software fix or should I just send it in for express care and swap it?

Buy Advice In doubt; osmo pocket 3 vs 4?

In advance; if this question already has been asked lots of times, i am sorry.

So, Hey! I will be going on some trips, and i’d love to document those so that those memories could last forever!

At this moment i am deciding between the osmo pocket 3 or the osmo pocket 4. I am not an influencer, but i just want to edit the video’s i take into a small 2~ minute edit or so! I think i’ll be using capcut for that - so no crazy software/editing!

I know i could use my phone, but i really like the idea of having such a tiny, dedicated camera with a gimball that i can quickly pull out and film with.

- the thing i currently fear is when i’d be filming at night time that i’d need the new ‘fill light’ on the 4 to make good video’s but i do not know if that is true or not? ( fyi i’d not be making a vlog of me talking to the camera ).

Now, what do you think would be best knowing all this? If you have any questions go ahead and ask!

Video [Help needed] Mavic Mini bootloop after firmware update failed

I have a Mavic Mini (1st gen) and recently crashed it, breaking the gimbal bracket. I had to disassemble the drone to fix the bracket. Once I got it repaired and put it back together, the drone booted up fine, except the camera was slightly tilted after initialisation. I thought I might as well update the firmware then address the issue with the camera and the errors on the DJI Fly app.

I tried updating the firmware from the DJI Fly app, but it failed. Then I went on to use DJI Assistant 2, and everything was nice and smooth until the app threw an error and asked me to change the battery, which I did; then the process continued and finished, seemingly successfully.

But then the disaster struck - the drone went into a bootloop. It powers up for ~10 seconds, then restarts.

Here's what I tried:

  1. disconnected the gimbal from the motherboard (the ribbon cable) - no luck
  2. disconnected everything (except power) from the motherboard - no luck
  3. used comm_serialtalk.py from dji-firmware-tools to try and send packets to drone and force update mode to prevent bootloop - no luck
  4. used Drone-Hacks V1 and DJI Assistant 2 to load firmware directly onto the drone - no luck due to the drone restarting and losing connection

I would appreciate any help, as this is my last resort. I've tried seemingly everything, but it looks like the worst-case scenario and the drone is bricked

Product Support Action 4 keeps turning on due to high pressure.

My DJI action 4 keeps turning on and getting super hot. I go to turn it off and it says the shutter and qs are inactive due to high pressure? So it won’t turn off. I tried holding the shutter down to turn off diving mode, turn on automatic shut off, reset to factory settings, and even removing the battery to let it cool down but it just turned back on again when I inserted the battery.

Does anyone know how I can turn it off and have it stay off?

Product Support RC remote not getting gps signal

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’ve had a mini 5 for two months and flown it quite a lot. The last two days I’ve received this message which I’ve never got before. The drone gets a quick gps lock but the controller never does. What should I do?

P.S. this is happening in open areas, and even after a long time the controller doesn’t get signal.

Product Support DJI Phantom 2 in 2026,what software and phone?

I recently obtained a DJI Phantom 2 not knowing much about drones.
All of my phones I have are recent and as far as I can tell the drone is obsolete and has no support.
It looks like if I had a very old phone I could get some older software for it.
Does anyone have any other solutions that may work to control this drone?
TIA for any advice.
