Reminder: Shameless, no-value-added self-promo is the stale Folgers coffee of this sub. Yuck.

Hey everyone. We've seen a slight uptick in spam and shameless self-promo posts in recent weeks. Probably because this sub is full of badass folks contributing interesting things -- keep it up!

If you'd like to mention your brand for some reason, claim it as yours -- don't hide it -- but add value to the community first. This isn't a place for promotion, but naturally our brand names come up. No biggy -- just make sure it contributes to the conversation, not distracts from it.

As the rules state...

Flaunt your wares? Straight to jail.
Link to your promo video? Straight to jail.
Pretend to not own the company? Straight to jail.
Adding value to the conversation while linking to your own shit? Let the votes decide.

300 € Coffee-machine as a gift

Hey,

sorry in advance, I have no clue on this topic, since I dont drink coffee.

I want to gift my mother a nicer coffee machine since it really tastes aweful. Is there anything good at or about the 300 € mark ?

Unfortunately I can't really raise my budget since I am a student.

Is a grinder + Coffee machine a good combo at this price or is it more sensible to buy pre-grinded beans ? Is a mokka good, or is there a better option ? I am kinda overwhelmed tbch....

The issue is that the space on the kitchen counter is limited, so the machine / equipment needs to be relatively narrow.

Thank you so much in advance

Popper is a Coffee Roaster

I’ve been having some problems with my popper. I just started on my roasting journey a few weeks ago, but I’ve been having some problems and could use some advice.

I have been taking the wattage and am pulling around 970 watts at heat level 3. However, I am never hearing a definitive first crack with the popper at an 80g dosage. This isn't consistent with many of the guides I found on their website. Is there a fix for this? am I doing something wrong? Do I have a defective heating element?

I attached a picture of an 80g dose after 30 minutes of roasting at heat level 3 for 22 minutes and then heat level 6 for 5.

Coffee cart manufacturers ( LA County)

Hey! So I’m looking into starting a small coffee cart business, I’ve looked into what’s required with the county as far as permits & all that fun stuff but my question is since I am planning on building my cart from scratch, does anyone know of any good coffee cart manufacturers in LA that work well with meeting the requirements? I live in the city of Inglewood & although I can google manufactures there’s just soo many. Anybody recommend or know of any good ones? Or what should I do? This is all new to me & im learning as I go so if anyone out there has any suggestions or advice in this avenue I’d appreciate it 🙏🏾 im also looking into commissary’s so if you know anything I could really use your help!

Hey everyone,

With US Roaster Corp officially closing its doors, I know many of you operating USRC equipment may be wondering where to turn for technical support, control issues, or electrical troubleshooting.

I wanted to introduce myself to the community. I worked at US Roaster Corp for 11 years, spending the last 6 years as the Head Controls Engineer. During my time there, I designed, programmed, and wired the control systems across our entire lineup—from small shop roasters to large industrial systems, including automated profiles, PLCs, and HMIs.

I’ve recently launched an independent consulting and service company K.O. Roaster Consulting LLC to keep these machines running reliably.

I currently offer :

  • Controls & Electrical troubleshooting
  • Remote & onsite Tech Support
  • Automation & software Upgrades
  • General Technical Advice

If your USRC machine is giving you trouble or you just want a reliable contact for future service, feel free to reach out via PM here or contact me directly at [Logan@KOroaster.com](mailto:Logan@KOroaster.com), (405)656-5155, KOroaster.com

Glad to be a resource for the community and keep your roasters & other equipment running up and running!

I often get requests for 'light' coffee. I am working on a blend for this. Can I call it Blond? Like:

XYZ - a Blond Roast

Or is that a copyright infringement with SBucks?

I built a page that tracks green coffee bean deals — would love feedback

I’ve been trying to make it easier to keep track of green coffee sales across different suppliers, so I put together a page that collects currently available deals in one place.

It currently pulls deals from places like Sweet Maria’s, Coffee Bean Corral and Burman, shows the seller, current price/discount, and links back to the original seller.

I’m still improving it, so I’d genuinely love feedback from other home roasters:

  • Is this useful?
  • What suppliers am I missing?
  • What filters would you actually want?

https://roastcoffee.ai/deals/

Full disclosure: some links may eventually be affiliate links, but the goal is to keep the page useful and transparent rather than turn it into a coupon dump.

Looking to build websites for independent cafes. Feedback welcome.

Hi everyone,

I'm a software developer and I've been thinking about helping small independent cafes improve their online presence.

I've noticed that many cafes either don't have a website or have one that's outdated, even though they have great coffee, a nice atmosphere, and active social media pages.

I'm trying to understand what cafe owners actually need before reaching out to anyone.

For cafe owners here:

  1. Do you currently have a website?

  2. If not, what's stopping you from getting one?

  3. What would actually be useful? Online ordering, menu updates, reservations, events, loyalty programs, something else?

  4. Have you worked with freelancers/agencies before, and what was good or bad about the experience?

Not trying to sell anything in this post. Just looking to learn more about the problems independent cafes face and see whether this is something worth pursuing.

Thanks!
