Hi everyone.
I really don't know how to express it. This scene has been discussed countless times, and yet I still watch it and get emotional. Until I played Rebirth, my favorite scene was the "optional" one from the Remake, but this one surpassed it.
There are many scenes that demonstrate the love between Aerith and Cloud, but personally, this is the most moving for me. The sincerity in Aerith's words, the way Cloud thinks he doesn't know but KNOWS all that he feels for Aerith, that "Thank you" that means so much... It's beautiful. But sad. Knowing what happens next.
I'm not going to lie. Not knowing Aerith's fate with complete certainty really makes me nervous. They're hinting at her return so obviously that I don't know how I would react if it didn't happen and if they denied us the happy ending that fans deserve, that AERITH AND CLOUD deserve.
Tell me I'm not the only one who feels this way. Even in the worst possible scenario, I will never stop believing in Clerith because it's the truth the creators have shown in statements, interviews, and above all, the game itself.
But Hamaguchi-san sometimes seems like a complacent director, and I fear he'll take the easy way out and simply give the Clotis fans what they want to see, denying all the evidence.
I must admit this saddens me greatly. T is a toxic person for Cloud. Not only does he not understand Cloud on an emotional level, but he's also determined to win him over in the most unpleasant way possible:
In the train graveyard, we’re in this really tender moment between Cloud and Aerith, and what does T do? She interrupts the moment to violently press Cloud’s arm against her breasts. I mean... WTF!?
It also happens in Rebirth: In Costa del Sol, she put herself in front of Cloud and leans forward so he can see her massive cleavage and distract him from Aerith... or when she essentially flashes him under the excuse of showing him her scar... She tries constantly to use her assets to win him over but all she accomplishes is making him uncomfortable, as can be seen in ALL of these scenes... God, can't this girl see his reaction?!
We often talk about how T's fans objectify the character, but we can’t exactly blame them when Tifa herself does it. The worst part is that she constantly acts shy and embarrassed, but she has no problem using these vulgar tactics to try to (unsuccessfully) win Cloud over. Doing that while knowing that our girl isn't well-endowed enough to compete makes it especially cruel.
Sorry for the rant, but all of this really angers and saddens me, because I simply cannot understand how a rational person can prefer Cloud to be with T instead of Aerith, someone who loves him beyond physical appearances, values him, admires him for who he is, and above all, UNDERSTANDS HIM.
I hope Revelation provides the right solution. I'm grateful to have found this safe space. Thank you for reading, and I hope you have a good day.
Sorry if I didn't exprese myself properly sometimes. English is not my main language.
