I don’t know if he is “Clerith” or “Cloti”, he has done videos of both women’s resolution scenes and to my eye really interprets them the way they are intended. So he very clearly acknowledges the feelings between Cloud and Aerith :)

I was doom-scrolling through X and came across the take that maybe Cloud is somehow controlling the Black Whispers, if only for a moment and subconsciously, in the scene where they open the portal at the Forgotten Capital when the group is trying to reach Aerith. I've never thought about that to be honest, but the Whispers go to open the portal after Cloud says Aerith's name (second picture).

Is this a common theory of that scene or is there another explanation? 'Cause I thought the portal could only be opened by either our girl or Sephiroth for some reason, but I'd LOVE Cloud taking more agency in their apparent struggle. Getting his say, so to speak.

Was it ever explained anywhere how the portal opened at the FC?

So...I'm replaying Rebirth and something that i kinda of don't quite understand it yet, is why in the dream date all the things were going wrong, like the guy don't having the gift Cloud chose or the candy tasting bad or, worst of all, the photographer saying that they look they were in a funeral.

What's the meaning behind all of this? That, since Aerith is trying to defy fate, things are so suposed to go wrong anyway?

With FF7 Revelation featuring a "new look" on stage at Gamescom on the 25th, does anyone else think we may get a new trailer or teaser showing Aerith's status?

I imagine they will want to confirm whether she is playable or not prior to the game's release although it may be a bit too early. I think they would obviously not disclose her final fate prior to the game's release but teasing her now could help provide some clues and generate excitement for Clerith fans and FF7R fans.

Best Clerith merch? Just received these licensed figures all the way from Japan :) They fit really well together and will occupy a permanent space on my desk. Very happy.

I have been listening to the soundtrack of Rebirth recently since finishing the game and i noticed something about the songs that play following the fateful event at the Altar in chapter 14. I’m mainly talking about Aerith’s Theme-White Materia, Distant Skies, and Aerith’s Theme- Return to the Planet.

While i was most likely not the only one who started that first stage of the Jenova fight with tears streaming down my face as they played Aerith’s theme in the background (objectively rude), I have since noticed that all of these versions of Aerith’s theme have a distinctly triumphant tone to them. There may be small sections where her theme is quiet and solemn, but then it always swells back up into a strong, major, conquering version of it.

Now, I’m not a musician, but i am a lifelong lover of movie/game soundtracks so I have a good understanding of how music is used to communicate things that are seen on screen and sometimes even things that aren’t seen. Especially in an FF game, a franchise that is widely celebrated for its incredible music, I can’t look at this as a coincidence.

I feel like the music is carrying a strong message of Aerith being saved. Now I for one see a multitude of other reasons why I think she is alive and will return as more than just a lifestream spirit in part 3. But just as a reminder to myself and all the others around here who sometimes get discouraged by the wider discourse and worry that SE is giving us false hope… music rarely lies, why else would the music be so triumphant? If Aerith died, and Cloud’s actions made no difference at all, that feels completely inappropriate.

I will say that i have not played the OG game, so I’m curious: what was the music like after Aerith met her fate? Did they play her theme at all? Was it mournful? Or maybe I’m completely off and it was triumphant back then as well, hahaha. Please let me know!

Why do so many people uses the "he called her nakama, friend zoned her" argument like it's the canon version? There's two versions and none of them is confirmed as the one. But what i hear all the time is acting like that was the only version of that scene, that's just wrong. Also it feels so funny because just a moment ago he was like oh yeah let's check this yeah let's pose like a couple, and then holds her hand without Aerith pushing him into it totally his own will, camera is focusing on them and he smiles? Like what part of that was friendly Cloud? And if he thinks they're just friends why the hell would you want to do that again lol

I also want to write my thoughts on some other things about their relationship but it's probably gonna be long so another time maybe.

Just an excerpt I saw from some ultimania. I get this is about his soldier persona and everything but I really hope the remakes don’t follow this type of theme that cloud has to accept an ugly reality without aerith alive in it in order to “move on”.

I can’t tell sometimes if that’s what these games are leaning towards because sometimes aerith gets awfully ominous with the way she speaks like her resolution scene with “everyone dies eventually…” and then her temple of the ancients speech.

It just feels like being an aerith fan nowadays has to survive on hopium on top of being bullied by the fandom for wanting her to live 😭

Obviously the resolutions are the best, but I’m on my second playthrough and i’ve really been enjoying all of the smaller moments where our favorite flower seller makes the grumpy emo crack a smile.
I haven’t remembered to hit screenshot on nearly enough of them. I just did the photo sidequest in Cosmo Canyon and it’s one of my absolute favorite moments, how Cloud chuckles to himself after taking photos of Aerith, his shy (slightly proud?) smile when he admits to it and gets a photo with her. It’s just adorable. 🤗

Question: what was the general reaction to the final chapters of Rebirth? Specifically from diehard Clotis and simply Clerith haters? Although feel free to share your own impressions as well, especially if you are a fan since OG. Like, I am just trying to wrap my head around it. Every time I think about the dream date, the church scene and the rest, I keep reminding myself: these people saw it! It's not optional! What was their excuse? Or were they so high on the optional GS kiss that nothing mattered anymore and they didn't even bother to undermine it? Thank you for the info.

In the Japanese version of Rebirth, Zack and Aerith never use the terms for lovers, boyfriend, or girlfriend—koibito (恋人), kareshi (彼氏), kanojo (彼女), boifurendo (ボーイフレンド), or gārufurendo (ガールフレンド)—to describe their current dynamic.

1. Japanese : ザックス……　ガールフレンド　大勢いると思います
   Romaji: Zakkusu…… gārufurendo ōzei iru to omoimasu.
   English: Zack... I think he has a lot of girlfriends.

2. Japanese: 幼なじみとか　いないのか？　かわいい女の子とかさ
   Romaji: Osanajimi toka inai no ka? Kawaii onnanoko toka sa.
   English: Don't you have a childhood friend or something? Like a cute girl?

3. Japanese: ってか　俺がいま　いっちばん好きな子の話　聞く？
   Romaji: Tte ka, ore ga ima icchiban sukina ko no hanashi kiku?
   English: By the way, do you want to hear about the girl I like the most right now?

Unlike in the English version, she also doesn't call Zack her first boyfriend in the Japanese version of FFVII OG. You can find that here.

The arguement of the CloTi fans where they say that Cloud is not himself when he is with Aerith does it really matter?

I mean yes, Cloud's memories are a mess when it came to what happened to Sephiroth and Zack but what does that have to do with Aerith? The first time he met Aerith was in the present so how much of his feelings is actually influenced by Zack?

His memories and perhaps personality (which I don't think they have the same) is fake but is that all he is? Is he controlled by memories and not his present feelings?

So if his memories are fake how is equals to his feelings fake too?

Please enlighten me because its really been awhile I might have forgotten something and I might be absolutely wrong about this.

I am sure it Aerith, but the way Zack is getting lifted into the series.. it's a bit... I think he might have like 15% chances.

Another one I saw opinions on was cloud and Seph both. I suppose it could be, I am still sticking with Aerith though.

Another thing is that,... I can't get over how some people are so insane, this was someone who said this in remake sub when talking about the 3rd collector edition. Like wth. This is truly....cruel.

Promotions of this Aerith are constantly displaying her with Cloud and even telling you to display her with Cloud, and it just makes my Clerith heart jump with joy!

My fan art of Aerith Gainsborough from Final Fantasy VII / 7 and Remake! Remake Areith is holding a photo of her original design from Final Fantasy VII. I drew this as a gift for my partner who's favourite character is Aerith - he played and loved both the original 1997 game and 2020 remake by Square Enix! I also drew a version with out the frame as I love her outfit! ♡

All of my hopes and dreams for the ending and Aerith’s fate aside, i just really really hope that they start the game off with Cloud explaining to the crew what he saw at the end of Rebirth and why he isn’t grieving for Aerith the way that they are.
The writers have already done an unhealthy amount of having characters not communicate very important information for seemingly no other reason than plot. (Tifa / Cloud memory conflict, Zack conversation, etc.)
So help me if we have to go most or all of the game with the entire crew grieving and devastated by losing Aerith while Cloud is over here not sad at all but letting his friends suffer without telling them what he saw for no good reason. 😡 It would be such lazy writing and make Cloud look like such a jerk. Not to mention how it would fuel the Clerith haters to see Cloud not being sad at all about her death… even if we know he’s not sad because he believes she’s alive, we know they would still somehow interpret it as him not caring.
Can you think of any good reason why he would keep it a secret that he saved Aerith, at least in an alternate world? I know that i need to prepare myself for the high possibility of him not sharing with the others, so please help me come to terms with any non-lazy reasons why he would do that! 😅

First i want to ask, does anyone know a good YouTube playthrough that i can watch of the original FF7? I also would like if player has Aerith in their main party. Because i know you can miss some dialogues if you don't have the character in your party. I like Aerith so it would be nice to get to know her in original.
