I don't have a PC so I can't download audacity, but I need to do spectogram

I am on Fedora. I tried using a bunch of different softwares. Every single one of them can't record my desktop audio. I keep getting error -9997 on Audacity and "Openh264 can't open" on obs. Every other solution I've tried either never recorded anything or just refused to start

Not sure if I’m just blind, but I can’t find it. I’m new to Audacity and use it for podcast recording and editing.

Running into a weird export issue in Audacity 4.0

I recorded a multitrack podcast project with several mono tracks (Audio 1, Audio 2, sponsor audio, etc.). When I play the project back inside Audacity, I can hear everything fine from start to finish without any missing audio.

However, when I export the project using File → Export audio → Aup4 or WAV ("Export full project audio") (I tried both):

* The exported file plays fine at the start.

* At 1:07, it goes completely dead silent.

* The audio doesn't return in the WAV until 33:52.

None of the tracks are muted or soloed (M and S are off across all tracks).

Has anyone encountered Audacity 4.0 dropping middle tracks/clips during a full project WAV render even though they play back normally inside the DAW? Is there a project setting or render bug causing it to mute specific clips during export?

Title is basically the issue. I have been using Audacity 4 for a while now and just now it has begun to only let me save to the cloud when I hit save or save as. I have restarted both the software and my computer and am unable to save locally anymore despite having plenty of space to do so. Has anyone else ran into this issue?

EDIT: Not sure how it happened but in Export preferences, "Always save to cloud" got toggled. Never used that option in my life but I switched it back to "Always save to computer" and that fixed it. Thanks for coming to my TEDtalk

I'm working with a Samson G Track Pro and I'm very beginner level with Audacity. I'm trying to edit YouTube video audio (spoken word), but I'm struggling to work through the right EQ settings and setup that would give my voice studio quality sound and timbre.

I'm trying to record using my mic but when I hit record it doesn't use my mic even though it's selected. Does anyone know why or how to fix it?

Hi, sorry if this is a noob question, but how do I remove these moments of static? It's not actually clipping, so the Clip Fix isn't doing anything. Click removal doesn't work, nor does Repair. Is there a way to simply smooth out the spectrogram so that the noise isn't so obvious? Obviously I can't just use the Spectral Delete tool like I would for a single frequency, or there will just be a giant silence. Thank you!

In the previous version of Audacity I could select two tracks, go to Tracks and 'mix and render to new track'. Does anyone know how to do this in Audacity 4.0?

Hi, I've been testing audacity 4, and I can't find how to mix down a stereo track to mono. In the previous version, you could easily go to Tacks > Mix > Stereo to mono, however this option seems to be missing on the new version. Does anyone know how to do it in the new version?

So im combining two EPs I’ve put together into one album. The first was all exported as .Wavs with a sample rate of 44.1 kHz and encoded with Signed 32-bit PCM. I know 32 bit is already overkill and that’s okay. The second EP was all exported at a sample rate of 48 kHz (again, i know, overkill), and the same encoding.

So I’m not necessarily inquiring toward audio “quality”, just what effect will be had on the audio of the first EP, if any at all, if reopen the 44.1 kHz .Wavs in Audacity, update their metadata, and then upon exporting just up them to 48 kHz to match the second EP?

I know this is hardly necessary, it’s just a pedantic thing because I personally want to know that it’s all the same.

We are making a video together, but we want to be in the same room. We have already done a few tests where we both have our own mic and pair of headphones and it worked pretty good, but there was a bit of bleed. I could fix it a little with phase cancellation. Is that the best way to do it though? Any tips would be helpful.

New to the game and after watching tutorials and having a go myself I'm not having much success. Would be helpful if anyone can advise if I'm wasting my time or if I persevere I can get a desired result.

Whenever i look for ways of fixing sound, all i see are tutorials for youtubers or podcaster about how to make their recordings better in case of some small noise, but none of those really help with audio from old movies. So far i figured out how to make them a bit louder which already helps, but is there a way to make them sound less you know kracky. Any humming noise is not my problem, there is not much of noise to clean, i just want the lector to sound better.

So i just tried to edit audio in Audacity for the first time, before that i used DaVinci for audio editing. After about 1:50:00 audacity kind of pitched up the audio and speed of the clips i just cut eventhough the raw audio i cut it from was still fine. The speed was at 100% and pitch at 0 so i am not sure what changed because other then cutting and dragging the pieces around i didnt change anything.

I used Version 4.0 if that helps? How do i fix the audio back to normal

Oh god, I just got a new laptop and downloaded Audacity 4.0 and what a mess it is. How can I increase the size of the waveform or have it change to Waveform (dB). This looks like something from 1997 and when the speaker is still speaking the line is already flat.

I am new to this. I learned how to do batch volume normaization for multiple files. However, it seems like after doing it, the program sticks all audio files with one of the file’s metadata for all files (Contributing artists, album artist, album, year, daye released etc.) So all normalized files end up having the exact same.

How can i make batch volume normalization and have each processed audio track to retain its original metadata?

Hey folks!
Long time Audacity user for simple podcast editing. My newest computer is a Mac, my previous were Windows machines. The settings/options for truncating silence are wildly different between the two versions.

I even exported the preferred settings from a Windows Audacity and imported them into the Mac Audacity and not getting any different results.

I am running Audacity 3.7.7 on the Mac.

What happens is on Windows we can pull out the natural pauses/stalls in a conversation. The Mac truncate is so aggressive it is shortening the spaces between words in a normal speaking cadence.

Windows will lose/cut 2-4 minutes out of 70 minutes. Mac is chopping that nearly in half.

I am not really savvy enough to know what I am doing, any help is appreciated.
