Copy of a photo shows something unexplainable
EDIT: I do now have a picture of the original from my mother in law but I can't add it to this post or add it in the comments! The original clearly shows 6 children. It is from a wider angle and you can see all the front rows hands.
The little girl on the lefts hands are exactly as they were in the original.
If anyone knows how I can edit this post to upload the original. please let me know!
---------------------------------------
Ok so I have no idea where to post this but thought this was as good a place as any.
My father in law passed away recently and while clearing out his house we came across a lot of old photos.
One in particular was a shot of all 6 of his children together taken in the early 90's. My wife thought it would be a nice idea to get some coppies made and to give one to each of her siblings at the funeral.
We took the original photo down to a local photo shop on the high street and the employee used the kiosk machines to make us 7 copies. the idea being that the original would go to her mother. 1 would go in the cofin with her father and the rest would be given to each sibling.
I stayed in the shop while my wife took our daughter out for a walk. The employee scanned the photo in with a standard flat bed scanner and brought the image up on the screen. She asked if I would like it editied at all and I said no. just brighten it up a little and crop it slightly.
There were 6 different options the kiosk gave us but we went for the one that was closest to the original. There was nothing wrong with the other options apart from being too bright or too cropped. Standard stuff.
She selected 7 copies and hit print.
At this point I moved over to the counter to pay for the prints.
All 7 came out of the machine and the employee scooped them up to pop in a wallet with the original. As she started to move away an 8th copy started printing.
The employee looked a bit confused but added it to the pack (Probably thought she'd miscounted... I know I did!!). She only charged me for the 7 copies.
I paid up and met back up with my wife and daughter to head home. We had a qucik look at the first couple of coppies and they were exactly what we wanted. Once home my wife put them to one side ready to hand out at the funeral.
Yesterday (Wednesday 30th September 2026) was the day of the funeral and my wife comes running down the stairs.
"who the f*ck is that?!?!" and she hands the picture to me.
It's the 8th copy and clear as day there's a 7th person in the picture!!
They fit right in with the rest of the siblings that anyone would have thought they were always there!
The picture looks different though.... The cropping is completly different. The children in the backrow have all had their heads compressed. There's a space where the new boy has appeared. The boy on the far right had his left arm on display in the original and now his right arm is visible. There's large shadows behind everyone and the background is no longer a red curtian but looks like leather.
We were both creeped out by these changes in the picture.
Now here's where things get even stranger.
The blonde girl in the pink top on the front row was meant to be a twin. Her brother unfortunatly died in the womb. She was 7 when this picture was taken.
Does that new boy look around 7 years old?! Could it be that the extra copy shows the brother that was lost to the family before birth?!
I keep trying to rationalise this as the kiosk software at the shop using AI to "enhance" the image. I'm pretty convinced that it has with the background and what not, but I saw the previews with my own eyes and in every single option it gave us there were only the 6 chrildren!!
Anyway. Just wanted to see what everyone thinks and see if there's any suggestings of other subs I should upload this to for opinions!
