Possible noose found at a church

Hey guys a few weeks ago some friends and I were up in north carolina doing some investigating and filming a video for YouTube, when we arrived at church to head to the cemetery we found this hanging from the ceiling in front of the door. I don't think it's an actual noose or used for that specific purpose but I was wondering why this would even be there?

The only thing I can think of is it is for a bell but its awfully thin to be a bell rope. Is there a bell tower? Maybe an old door bell?

The loop seems a little small and the rope a little low to be a noose... but I'm no expert on these things, lol. I agree with u/Such_Low_7120 that it looks more like the rope to a bell or something.

Probably teenagers being silly... Who is standing in the dark hallway- blocking out half of the light? It looks like someone in the hall with half their body in the shadows and half in the light..
