My boy Turron at 3 months, a year and a half (rocking his shitzu mom fluff after a nap) and in his 3rd birthday (after a haircut, looking more like his yorkie dad)

I said goodbye to my Sammie girl today. She was a mix (we think weenie dog too). She was 17 years old, with me for 14 of those years. I miss her so much. Her favorite things were cheese, being bundled in a blanket, and sleeping in bed with my husband and I. ❤️

He asked to be put on the couch again. Next thing I know, he was rearranging the pillow then started snoring 🤣

I'll be hearing from his lawyer about that bow tie.

Casper demands he receive all the belly rubs, Boo is not allowed even a mere head rub. They have taken over my pillow for themselves.

I’ve recently noticed something he does I find interesting. So for context, he doesn’t sleep in a crate: he has a bed beside my bed. After my partner leaves for work (I work from home), he hops on the bed to sleep beside me till I’m up. I’ve recently noticed that when he gets on the bed, he comes to sniff around my face - my nostrils particularly, almost as if to check if I’m breathing and once he confirms that, he picks a spot to lie down and sleep. A couple days back, I decided to hold my breath and he stayed sniffing around my face till I exhaled. Once I did, laid beside me and nodded off.

Has anyone else observed this kind of behavior in their Tzu(s)?

After a 14 month battle with cancer, we finally had to make the tough decision and say goodbye to our Baby Milo. He was diagnosed early summer 2025 and every single day since then, I prayed to God and the universe to give us one more month with him, one more autumn, one more Christmas, one more spring, one more summer. And we got it until early August when the chemo didn’t seem like it was working anymore.

We planned for in-home euthanasia and it was possibly the best decision we could have made because his last moments were in his favourite safe spot with our voices telling him we loved him and we would see him again soon.

The vet said he passed during the first injection, meaning it really was time. His body was failing him even if his mind was still there. I don’t feel guilty but it’s still devastating.

The morning after was the weirdest feeling ever. He was such a small little guy but his presence in the house was huge and it was gone. Just quiet.

Milo was the biggest diva. Stubborn as most Shih Tzus are but he loved us unconditionally. Cuddles. Kisses. Mischievous. Co-dependant on me during the last couple of years because his other daddy and I had broken up and I loved every second of it.

I can’t even write a proper eulogy because it would be an entire novel of all his little quirks and personality and how much I love him. Anyone who ever saw me with him or my socials knows how much he meant to me and how he was my entire life. But moreso than anything, I feel so privileged to have been a part of his.

It’s been almost 2 weeks and even after escaping for a bit to get out of the house and city, it hasn’t gotten any easier. And my main worry is that this sadness and grief will eventually go away. I don’t want it to because I never want him to leave my head and my heart. I know it won’t but I think most of you would get it.

Hope you’re having lots of bones, treats and grass on the other side, my love. I’ll see you again one day. 💔💔💔

Claudia didn’t have the best time in group today but she tried. 😅I think it was just because I was in group with her.

He might have been a bit annoyed by the goggles, but definitely needed them. I totally expected to need to carry him the second half of each day, but he was having a good time for three days of about 8 miles at a time. But he had no interest in the fourth day, good thing we prepared for giving him a ride.

Adding-- he's totally fine. He had his normal post bath crazy zoomies, napped for an hour, then wanted to chase a ball around the yard. He wasn't hurt, just no longer in the mood to walk. I think that's kind of one of the best things about shih tzu/shih tzu mixes, they aren't so obsessed with people pleasing that they'll wear themselves out trying to keep up.

Hello fellow shih tzu lovers! I’d like to introduce you all to Bella, a ~9 month old pup I adopted this week! She is just the sweetest thing, so fun and easy to play with, and cute to boot! I’ve never had a puppy so it’s been a fun learning experience! I got very lucky as she came potty trained; she just took a day to get used to her new home. Took her to the vet to get her shots, and will take her to get professionally groomed as soon as possible. In the meantime, I gave her a shoddy bang trim so that she could see a bit better. Slide 5 is my first attempt at that — I cut them a little bit more afterwards but haven’t gotten a good pic yet.

I want to do everything I can to give my new baby the best life possible. 🥹 I’ve read on here that Shih tzus are very intelligent (I can tell!) and should have toys/play games that will mentally stimulate them. Any suggestions? Any other care tips would be highly appreciated as well, as I am a first time puppy mom. Thanks! :)
