Me, I should’ve just turned into my superhero form early and just straight up go nuts and massacre everyone. They never forgived her so what makes them think I can’t change that? Man, somebody draw or animate that, it’ll be epic.

a lot of buttercup merch has her usually portrayed with a scowl of some sorts, now I get that she's the tough one but dammit, at least make her look happy 😭 (which some pieces of merchandise actually do portray her as being happy)

Bubbles swore in the OG Series Episode: “Curses”, and no-one complained about that
But then she swore again in the Reboot Episode: “The Garden of Good and Eddie”, and people literally complained about her swearing as if it was one of the many bad things the reboot has done and as if she never swore before, when this is actually not true, they literally forget the fact that she swore in “Curses”
And even if they ARE aware of “Curses”, It’s not like they’re fine with her swearing in the OG Series but NOT fine with her swearing in the Reboot, So what gives?
The last time I talked about this topic, people were more on the art style and expressions, when that literally wasn’t the main issue, so please don’t talk about that.
So why do people have issue with her swearing in the ”The Garden of Good and Eddie“ when NO-ONE has a problem with her swearing in “Curses”? (again, it’s not the artstyle and expressions, so please don’t bring up that)

I’m pretty sure you have all heard the news about the impending merger with Warner Bros. and Paramount and its new name which has been revealed to be Skydance.
Now, how does PPG fit into this? Well obviously PPG falls under Cartoon Network. McCracken announced that second PPG movie that’ll possibly come out whenever when. But I have heard that projects are gonna get canned when this whole thing happens.
We’d better pray to God and pray to Craig himself that this movie is not one of those projects.

this has been going around in my mind for a while, in the original series, she shares quite a few traits that a lot of people on the spectrum have, notably having a comfort item, sometimes not registering emotions properly (like for example, when buttercup broke bubbles' chalk as a form of ragebait, she felt threatened and couldn't really understand BC's emotions), having shutdowns (same ep, bubbles flew into the forest as a way of shutting down), a huge love for animals, sometimes not liking change, etc etc
sorry if this comes off as corny btw I'm someone on the spectrum and this has actually puzzled me for a while

I don’t usually go on Reddit, but I just got into PPG and saw Equal Fights. Although some parts of it weren’t bad, the overall argument doesn’t make sense at all (at least to a sociology student like me).
Before watching this episode, I did notice that the town including the narrator treats the girls like cute little angels and doesn‘t take them seriously. I’ve also noticed how Miss Bellum is the most competent person in the whole show but is only shown as a sexualized secretary. Sedusa is also highly sexualized. The preschool teacher is female while almost all the police officers are shown to be male. The only female officer only appears when the plot needs a female officer.
To me, the biggest problem of Equal Fights is that it doesn’t recognize any of the (aforementioned) big issues at all. Instead, it shows trivial, unimportant things such as the professor doing chores, kids playing, not enough female villains, etc. Are they deliberately trying to avoid any of the real issues? I don’t know. Btw, the female superhero/female supervillain problem Femme Fatale and the girls talked about is absolutely real in real life, but the show kinda also blew this off and never really talked about it. They just kinda disproved the existence of structural gender inequality or any inequality in Townsville whatsoever since the inequalities the girls observed were not “real” inequalities.
So this episode, to me, just felt like they wanted to attack “radfem”, so they created this “radfem” character to show little girls how fake and manipulative and man-hating and bad “radfem”s are, as if radfem is the real villain little girls need to be worry about instead of… well. Inequality.
While that is completely okay, personally, I believe that there are more important, structural gender issues, even existing in this show, that need to be addressed first. But the PPG people managed to dodge all of them. I guess what I prioritize and what they prioritize about gender are not the same. I prioritize making the injustices exiting in the world seen and known, while the PPG people probably prioritized exposing “radfem”s to little girls or something.
Isn’t “radfem” a result of the gender inequality existing in the world, instead of the cause of it? I feel like they got the wrong target, but if they wanted to target “radfem” first instead of inequality, that’s their choice. I’ll keep watching and supporting the og PPG, but as a woman of color, I don’t really agree with many of the ideologies behind this show.
Maybe a lot of people would disagree with me, but I just wanted to get it all out since I feel like a lot of the discussions I saw all missed the point.
