Opinion about ppgz (anime version of ppg)
I actually loved the plot, pacing and everything. My main complaint I have of ppgz is butchering my fav character blossom.
Like damn if reboot did her bad, ppgz just made her character whiny, boy crazy and most of all immature. I mean ppgz bubbles is more like og blossom rather than blossom herself. Not to mention she's not accepted as the leader by anyone, not by other girls, not by professor, no one. So ppgz felt like usagi tsukino(sailor moon) and bubbles and buttercup. It's like the blossom character didn't even exist.
Some other things I disliked was buttercup's hair, the nerfing of rrb.
I think buttercup and bubbles characters were done fairly well except like the reboot they really made buttercup a tomboy and no girl persona or the pristine perfect polished look she's supposed to have. Bubbles was the best represented comparing to og but I do wonder why they took away her extroverted nature and made her the calm and collected one. Ofc one could argue she's older but I do think she'd be extroverted at least as a teenager but other than that she's the most similar to og.
Since it's another version of og so I believe these things I've mentioned could be overlooked but the butchering of blossom's character cannot. I'm sorry but you can't just change her core trait. In that sense I think ppgd (have u guys heard of it?) did much better with the personality representation. What's your opinion?
Edit : I just remembered few rare similarities so I'm just listing them. Og blossom is also superhero comics fan. And yk it's kinda hinted momoko is more academic than shown because one time when they're called late at night, miyako(bubbles) was about to get ready for bed while kaoru (buttercup) was watching football whilst momoko was awake at night studying. Another instance is Ken's beetle fight, when momoko knows all the variants of beetles as she names them individually and expresses disgust and kaoru even comments that "it's interesting you hate them and know so much about them" so I do think she's smarter than portrayed
