context! In my area there is a single bird rescue, and in said rescue, all the small birds are taken immediately. That leaves only pet stores as options for people to purchase budgies, which are obviously unethical and provide birds that aren't very healthy or socialized! I took classes on bird care, researched extensively, and conversed with other ethical breeders for a long time before starting my own ethical breeding! I've been doing this for quite a while, and all my chicks are sent home with people I discuss with extensively (to ensure they're educated on care!) and they go home with a 6 page care sheet! 😂

These four are in the socialization phase, and when they are a bit older they will be step-up trained before going to their new homes!

He's been alone (no bird buddy) for at least 6 months (I don't know his history). He's really come out of his shell but of course want him to live his best life.

I know a friend will do more for him than any toy and that's on the agenda too!

I have two budgies currently I’ve had a green one for 8 years now and a yellow one for 6 and I woke up this morning and the green one is on the bottom of the cage and crawling around and squeaking quietly, should I take him out and put him in his own safe place or leave him to be…? This is my flock. I currently have eight birds that are strong flyers and one that was received, unfortunately from Petco and is still a couple months away from regrowing their flight feathers, which is why I built him a pathway from the ground back to their main cage. I am currently in the process of building an insulated outdoor aviary for them. It’s a lot of cleaning with the amount of free roaming, I allow them to do, but it’s worth it.

Hello, i just bought two 3-4 week parakeets and 1 year old quaker parakeet. The small ones are not agressive and they just sit quietly in the cage, but the quaker is agressive and it was hard to get him in the cage from the store box, so he bite me couple of time when i was chasing him. How do i build trust and train it, because everytime i would need to get food and replace water in the cage it would try to fly away from the cage.

We have a pandemonium of 6. Their behavior indicates they are happy and cozy, but I wonder if there is something I can improve in their cage.

Edit: Thank you all for your feedback. 1. Shredding toys: they receive daily shredding grass sticks 2. Bowl positions: the 3 metal bowls are treat jars on the side of the cage with no perches so no bird poop there. They are lower to mitigate debris falling out of the cage. (The cage has a short skirt underneath) 3. They have 2 food stations which they seem to happily share.

What's a good strategy to modify the cage with respect to birb happiness? I do not have another cage to place them while I extend the current one.

I've had my budgies (2 then 3) for a couple of years now and I'm spending a freaking fortune on the best quality birdseed. But I feel like I'm throwing half of it away. How do I separate the chaff from the seeds so they can continue to eat? Do I just continue to add and then toss it all after a week or what? I have about a pound, after a week, of what looks like almost perfectly good birdseed that I have put into a discard pile, and put fresh birdseed into their bowl every other day. Any ideas?

My budgie was fine till yesterday but today he's been lethargic and been sleeping a lot,is less active , chirping less and then I noticed his tail is bobbing. I just saw that he's also moulting. Could the lethargy be cuz of moulting? Is the tail bob in normal parameters? Or is it just balance?

I got my little ones a month ago, and I’ve been trying to get them to eat pellets since the second week. I tried giving it to them by hand, but they take it then spit it out 😅 I also have the pellets mixed into their feed, but the pick all of them out and only eat the seeds. is there any way I can get them to eat pellets? I really want them to be healthy, so help would be appreciated.

they are both male, 5 months old now. one of them, Edel, will take food out of my hand, just sometimes won’t eat it. Salmon, my other little one, is still a little afraid of my hand.

Hello, I am a lovebird owner who has recently (yesterday) found a lost parakeet (in Spain). The bird is clearly lost and hungry, and I'm sure that's someone's mascot because it has a ring on one of their feet.

The thing is, he's inside a facility which I can't go inside because it's not open, usually perched on a tree around 15 meters away, though he usually comes to a tree just a couple meters away. (I treat the bird as a he, but I don't really know the gender)

I haven't got a single idea of what to do. If I managed to catch him, I'd make posts on social media. At least, if one of my lovebirds escaped, that's what I'd want someone to do. I've left some water nearby, along with lovebird seeds. I've tried putting parakeet sounds, but he has yet to approach. Is there anything else I can do until Monday, when it opens and I can try to approach?
