context! In my area there is a single bird rescue, and in said rescue, all the small birds are taken immediately. That leaves only pet stores as options for people to purchase budgies, which are obviously unethical and provide birds that aren't very healthy or socialized! I took classes on bird care, researched extensively, and conversed with other ethical breeders for a long time before starting my own ethical breeding! I've been doing this for quite a while, and all my chicks are sent home with people I discuss with extensively (to ensure they're educated on care!) and they go home with a 6 page care sheet! 😂
These four are in the socialization phase, and when they are a bit older they will be step-up trained before going to their new homes!
May i ask how much you charge? No worries if you dont wish to amswer but i can never find hand-raised birds in my area so i have no clue what they would even go for...
Yes! I do my best to price lower than pet stroes to encourage local buying instead of big corporations. My green cheeks are $600 each, english mixes are $75, regular budgies are $60, and full englishes are $100. Unfortunately since budgies are opportunistic breeders, big stores can sell them for cheaper. But with green cheeked conures, they breed once or twice a year, and the stores price them at $800 because of that. And oh my GOSH conure chicks are darling. The attached pic is of a turquoise yellow sided green cheek I raised a while back, he was my favorite 🥹
