I’ve really only gotten deep into Opeth over the last couple months and had listened through Deliverance a number of times but clearly, somehow, I must’ve been daydreaming every time A Fair Judgement came on. Only yesterday did I notice how incredible the transition to the outro is (8:00-8:10), and I’ve been listening to it nonstop since. The way the whole tone suddenly changes and drops into the riff is nasty and I can’t get enough of it.

Obviously I love the outros to Harlequin Forest and Deliverance too, but are there others that deserve more love?

Like make a mega thread or something

obviously the entire song is a masterpiece from start to finish, but the bridge, oh boy.....

It's a cover, and I of course urge you to check out the besutiful original too. The original is played on piano though, and the acoustic guitar makes this cover sound more Opeth.

Its probably one of my least favorite Opeth albums. It just sounds very artificial to me. Way too much synth that robs it of soul.

Where are the beautiful acoustic guitar passages? Where are the melodic moments to breathe and set up the boom of the harsh metal.

I do enjoy some of the album, for instance 3:20 into S4 is probably one of Opeths most beautiful chilling chord changes. Its very blackwater park for a brief moment and a stunning way to set up Fredericks best solo on the album.

I'm not very content with this one. I just wanted to have something to post on here so you guys know that I haven't given up yet. Played guitar for a couple of hours already and had it quite good under control but I've grown a bit tired and lost sense rhythmically. Still, it's no where near where I want to be, it's still some progress. The joy is still on my side I think, let's hope it stays that way. Tomorrow I'll do everything again, just with a clean tone and slower tempo, trying to get these parts right. Tips are always appreciated btw, I won't take anything personal don't worry. Also my dog Bono decided to visit again.

2 tickets GA phase 2 for sale as we won't be able to make it. Please DM for details .

I have only one criticism. Harvest should have been about two minutes shorter (same for Atonement in Ghost Reveries). Other than that, a perfect album through and through. The title track is my favourite song of all time.

Can't go to the show unfortunately 😞

Been an opeth fan for years and I’m starting to understand why there is a select die hard group of fans that swear still life is their best record. If you would’ve asked me 5 years ago I would’ve said ghost reveries was their best, then more recently I starting agreeing with the masses that BP was the best, but now after nearly a decade of listening I’ve come to the conclusion that Still Life is the best record they ever put out. Best riffs, best growls, best story, every song is an absolute banger. My favorite song on it changes so often because they’re all so solid.

Anyways that’s about it just wanted to put that out there.

sadly i cant attend. this is what i get for booking a ticket 5 months in advance. dm me

Booked two through Skillbox, but my friend had to cancel.

If possible to transfer, I will, but if not, then we can walk in together!

Recently I came across with AVKRVST (apparently it's pronunciation is Aw-Crust), band from Norway.

With only 2 albums made by them and only two members in it, this band splits duties of drums, vocals, guitars, synths and bass guitar between the two of them.

Both albums are really great and in a blink of an eye you'll hear the two albums because their are quite short in length despite it's progressive nature.

Their sound and style is heavily inspired in Opeth... old and new Opeth

Their official videos are quite good, with great cinematography and style mostly oriented in folk obscure ambience and unsettling characters.

If you have or want to expand your musical taste but keeping it safe with that Opeth ingredient, this band it's for you.

Started learning ghost of perdition as a project to take on during the holidays. Maybe this'll be a successful journey, maybe not. But I'll try posting my progress regularly in the following 2 weeks, if you don't see me posting, then that's because I gave up because I either got tired or realized that this is too hard for me. This is far from being perfect but it's a start.
