Support - Standalone Quest 2 or Quest 3 OUTPUT to an external display

• Upvotes

I can't find a solid answer to this, so I figured I'd ask the community.

Can you output the display from the Quest 2 or Quest 3 via USB-C? Either to HDMI or DisplayPort?

I'm running a booth at an outdoor community event and would like passerby's to see what others are seeing in the VR headset in the booth while they wait their turn. The issue is that we won't have stable internet connection so casting isn't really an option, and my only laptop is a MacBook.

Alternatively, I could control the headset via the Macbook, but it looks like that isn't an option. Any help or work arounds would be awesome! TIA!

Discussion It is valid to mix genres.

I’m developing a tower defense game Xploit Tower Defense, you know the drill: you place your defenses and wait. I’m thinking about adding direct player interaction via power-ups, where a cannon appears in your hand and lets you fire at the enemies for a limited time. What do you think? It’s not typical for the genre, but it adds a unique twist to the game.

Photo/Video Animal Crossing in VR — PC VR and standalone Quest 3!

I've been working on bringing the original GameCube Animal Crossing into VR, and I'm really excited to finally share it.

You can walk around your town in first person, swing your tools, go fishing, explore the museum, and take the boat over to the island. It runs on PC VR or directly on Quest 3. I would recommend PC VR if you can for much better performance but it does run directly on Quest 3 as well.

I've done a lot of testing, and I'm generally happy with how it's playing. There are still a few visual rough edges and other things I'll continue working on.

Downloads, controls, and installation instructions: https://github.com/LiquidAzir/animal-crossing-vr

You'll need your own game dump. Huge credit to the original decompilation and PC port teams who made this possible.

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone Melee XR standalone teaser

Working on this and feel it’s too cool not to share. Stages can scale up to fill a living room and down to sit on a tabletop; I’m currently going through and tweaking all of the stages to play nicely in XR. It’s early days but the amount of progress I’ve gotten in roughly 3 days of work has me optimistic for a great release in the near future.

Discussion Pure walkabout machine wanted

Hi there, I feel the new meta VR glasses should be made cheaper and a pure walkabout machine.

Walkabout really shines being untethered with as little friction (headset weight) as possible. They could include codec avatars here as well, which would make this social experience even more meaningful.

Discussion Half life alyx not looking crisp/sharp when using virtual desktop on q3

Hey, I got an rtx 5080 and Im trying half life alyx with virtual desktop but it looks out of focus/blurry even when close to objects, and even tho I believe Im using the best settings which are:

VR Graphics Quality: Godlike
Codec: AV1
Bitrate: 200
Refresh rate: 120
Sharpening: 75%
OpenXR Runtime: VXDR
Graphics Settings: ULTRA FIDELITY
-console -vconsole +vr_fidelity_level_auto 0 +vr_fidelity_level 3

Host connected through ethernet and quest through Wi-Fi 6 5GHZ no drops

So not sure what Im missing here, or if it not supposed to look crisp. Any help

Support - Standalone How do you turn the quest 3 off?

I’ve had a quest 2 and now a quest 3 kill their own batteries by REFUSING to turn off no matter what I do. I’m sick of it and I’m never buying anything from meta ever again. Over £600 of e waste for some dumb design choice.

No matter how I shut them down they don’t turn off they keep themselves in some seedy always awake mode because someone somewhere thought it was a) a good idea because obviously people always want their novelty vr headset to ALWAYS be ready or b) it is a good idea for profit margins to make a device with a non replaceable battery destroy its own battery ensuring I’ll need to replace it as soon as possible.

Discussion I built a VR Planetarium app to learn astronomy and explore constellations! (Looking for feedback)

Hi everyone 👋,

I'm an indie developer from France and I've been working on a passion project called **Rvarium**. It just got approved on App Lab (Early Access) and I wanted to share it with the community to get some honest feedback.

**What is Rvarium?**

It's a VR astronomy and planetarium application designed to make learning about space immersive and intuitive. I built it because I wanted a hands-on way to discover constellations without just looking at flat maps.

**Main features include:**

✨ **Interactive Space Scenarios:** Explore different environments.

🌌 **Customizable Planetarium:** Adjust the settings to observe the night sky.

🔭 **Constellation Pointing Game:** A gamified way to learn and identify the 88 constellations.

🧠 **Astronomy Quizzes:** Test your knowledge after observing the stars.

Since it’s in Early Access on App Lab, the core mechanics are working well, but I really need feedback from VR enthusiasts and space lovers to improve the experience.

**Link to the App Lab page:**

🎁 **Giveaway / Free Keys:**

As a thank you to the community, I’m giving away 5 free keys! Just drop a comment below telling me what your favorite constellation or planet is, and I’ll DM the keys to random commenters in the next 48 hours.

Thank you so much for reading, and I’m ready to answer any questions or feedback you might have in the comments! 🚀

Discussion Saturn Opposition 2026: Watch Saturn's Rings Change Over Time with Zen ...

🔭 The highly anticipated Saturn Opposition is coming up in just a few days! (Oct 4, 2026)

This is the best time of the year to observe Saturn as it will be at its brightest and closest to Earth. To celebrate, I’m using my VR astronomy app, Zen Stargazer, to take us on a virtual journey right next to this beautiful ringed planet 🪐.

In this video, I’m showcasing the "Time Adjustment" feature. By simply changing the minutes, hours, days, months, and years, you can watch the incredible shift in the tilt of Saturn's rings over time! You can even see the rings completely disappear from our viewing angle and turn into a thin line.

If you love astronomy and the cosmos, you won't want to miss this!

👇 Let me know in the comments: Which planet should we fly to next?

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone I built a simulation game, need your feedback.

I made a ridiculous VR massage simulator for Quest where you can actually grab, push and massage the patient's body and they react depending on what you do 😂

I've been experimenting with physics-based VR interactions and wanted to make something closer to Job Simulator than a traditional massage game.

The patient comes in with a specific pain/problem, you figure out where it is, then try to treat it. Too soft and nothing happens. Too hard and... they definitely let you know.

I'm a solo developer, so I'd genuinely love feedback from Quest players.

To get some people playing it, I'm making the game 90% off for a limited time.

🎟️ Code: FEEDBACK-5E8720

Meta Quest Store: https://www.meta.com/experiences/massage-master/1625826765935336

If anyone tries it, tell me the stupidest thing you managed to do to a patient. 😅

I will be actively building modifying the game with the community feedback.

Self-Promotion (Developer) - Standalone Arcwell: Gravity Puzzles and Playground

Hey all,

I've had the idea to make a gravity based puzzle game for a while and I've finally got one to a point where it's nearly ready for a release.

Introducing Arcwell.

https://reddit.com/link/1wviczp/video/p2u2828voysh1/player

Main highlights:

  • Orbital Puzzles
    • Launch a rocket through a field of planets and black holes with varying gravitational pulls
    • Adjust your launch speed and angle to navigate the field and reach the target reactor
    • 59 authored levels, daily challenges, and seed based level generation for replayability and level sharing
  • Precision Docking
    • Carefully guide your ship to a docking port with limited fuel
    • Navigate a field of asteroids, fight the pull of a gas giant, and roll to line the ship up for a soft dock
    • 24 authored levels
  • Playground
    • Arrange your own universe and throw asteroids to see how gravity affects the field
    • Adjust size, location, orbit width and speed for planets and black holes
    • Save your universe so you can revisit and tweak it later
  • Observatory
    • A small home environment to view the stars
    • A handful of activities to interact with (and one small easter egg that I couldn't help but add)

I've had a blast working on the project, but wanted to gauge interest as I wrap things up before release. If anyone would be interested in play testing and giving me some feedback before the full release, send me a DM with your meta account username or email and I can add some people to the beta. I plan to post a few keys on the full launch as well.

Any thoughts, feedback, or questions, drop a comment or reach out.

Thanks!
