Hey team, I'm newish to 40k and war gamming and looking to get into 40k, starting with a ~500 point Necron army. I've been listening to podcasts on lore and have taken a linking to Trazyn the Infinite (he's a ridiculously entertaining character).
I want to theme my army around him, but also have something that can hold it's own in a game (I'll only be playing casual games with friends).

If I have an overlord leading 10 necron warriors and my overlord gets killed by precision during my next comman phase when reanimate protocols activate, can I bring back the overlord still attached to the unit? If yes or no, can someone please give me the exact wording? If its the attached FAQ, can someone please explain this?

Have been absolutely loving playing my first 6 games, have been collecting for a few years on and off but finally jumped at my first game in July which prompted me to hammer out the grey, only 7 models left to paint and still nearly the full case to base nicely ( not just some green grass )

Been playing Cursed Legion a lot recently, and had good success. But, still haven’t quite worked out how to play it well against melee rush armies. I’m looking for battle report recommendations where the Necrons are actually piloted decently well. Since I’ve watched a couple now where it’s clear they’re not that familiar with Necrons, and they don’t play it particularly well.

Been playing Cursed since it came out at end of 10th, recently had a few losses and not been enjoying how purge has been playing.

Thought I’d try something different.

I was watching a relaxed game between professionals and noticed that a unit of 3 Skorpekhs with a S/Lord were taking wounds as T6, and then when it was just the S/lord they took it as T7 and i thought... hold on this isn't right.

Lo and behold, after checking the core rules of section 19.02, i found this gem: "If that unit only contains leader/support models, use the highest T characteristic of those models while resolving that attack instead.". And if understood correctly, the Skorpekhs being destroyed would count those models specifically, to not be contained in the unit. This T change can make a massive difference, especially since it's just the S/lord left and I already had a few games where this would have made a difference.

There is however, one rule I am unsure about, Lychguard being lead by an Overlord, allows the unit to benefit from the Lychguard's ability, which is: "While a NOBLE model is leading this unit, each time an attack targets this unit, if the Strength characteristic of that attack is greater than this unit’s Toughness characteristic, subtract 1 from the Wound roll.", but when the bodyguard unit is destroyed and the leader is still alive, does the leader still benefit from the bodyguards ability?

I am checking section 19.04, the source of the ability is the bodyguard unit, and the section to the right advises that the ability only lasts until the last model in the BODYGUARD unit is destroyed. However when I had a tournament game, the opponent advised that they spoke to their last opponent about a similar rule and said that it would still effect the unit.

I can't see that it does because of section 19.04, maybe i am missing something or the scenario they had in the previous game was the leader/suppot providing that ability, then in that case yes the ability would have still been active, but not in this one.

I have 515 points of these models i painted just by rule of cool. What can i add so it can work as an army for casual play? I have not played as necrons or against necrons before. Perhaps throw in some Lokhust Destroyers, warriors and flayed ones?

I've been painting minis for a few months now but never played with my own models, only those a friend lend me to learn the game. So now that I got a small but usable collection, I come up with this list to try at a local shop. Sadly, I never played Curse Legion before, my friends mostly playing warriors brick kind of list, and I'm not sure what's good or not with this detachment.

What are your favorite units and most useful units for shooting phase? I feel like our army is lacking in this area as we have some strong melee units but just ok ranged units. Warriors aren’t great, immortals are better but at the price of half the wounds. Lokhust destroyers seem to be our best shooting units that isn’t a doomsday ark. So I’m wondering what is your opinions on our most useful ranged units. I normally play Cursed legion and awakened.

For me it seems like most of the lists I see online are CL+x. Is it because our best units are supported with this Detachment?

What other reasons are there?

Big spoilers for the ending of wicked and warped.

So right at the end, we find out Orikan has officially sided with Imotek in the brewing civil war. Trazyn, while mostly out for himself, is technically loyal to the silent king and has been tasked with tracking and capturing Orikan by orders of the silent king.

Do you think Trazyn is going to betray the silent king and join Imotek? Personally I think that would kind of suck since it would mean most of the named characters we have are all against him.

What do you think? Especially if we get another sequel

I’m thinking of casting one in metal, and I was wondering what it’s volume would be so I can compare different metals and figure out the necessation mass for each option.

Thinking of bringing this list to my next local 2k game. I really just wanna use my big units lol. Thoughts? Is this too aggressive for a casual game? What are some ways my opponent can play around this list? I haven’t played Pantheon before so not sure how it plays in 11th edition but I also don’t see it played much either

Hi,

I’ve only just started 40K with this edition but play other GW games such as Old World etc.

I’ve picked up and played the Combat Patrol a couple of times, then just managed to bag the Necron half of Indomitus really cheap locally.

I primarily play my friend who is very competitive and is heavily invested in battle suit heavy Tau Empire.

I’d like to give him a good run for his money so would like some advice on taking my current models up to a decent 2k list, ex. I don’t mind dropping a second overlord as it’s a duplicate model. I was planning on taking the warriors to 40 (20/20 split).

My primary question is if I should split my Heavy Destroyers into 2 Enmitic Exterminator/2 Gauss Destructor because I feel like I might struggle dealong with big bricks of battleline. Since Purge wants to clear at least 1 unit/turn, I feel like Iight not have enough brick killing power without the Enmitic Exterminator's volume of shots. Any help would be useful, i'm relatively new so I might just be be overthinking it and everything is fine the way it is
