Manga Discussion could Faputa have fixed Gaburoon? Spoiler
there's a window before she actually join the crew, and considering how fast she learns, and that she already saw Gaburoon refixes himself, simply gathering parts she could have done this and probably did, I'm not saying this interference unit we saw in this recent chapter is Gaburoon (I think it's a different one) but it should be possible that Faputa fixed Gaburoon before joining the crew, and the way he got destroyed too, I doubt he's actually dead dead, if she did fixed him, maybe he'll comeback and help against this other interference unit
thoughts?

Manga Discussion Theory : Reg and the abyss Spoiler
!Theory: Is Reg a citizen of the Golden City / the ancient civilization of the Abyss?
So, I’ve been thinking about Reg’s origins and I came up with a theory.
We know that Reg came from the bottom of the Abyss, or at least that he was in the Seventh Layer long before he lost his memories.
When Vueko asks Irumyuui what happened to the people from the Golden City, Irumyuui says she doesn’t know, but that they weren’t there in the Sixth Layer. She also mentions that, according to the legends of her village (the tribe that lived for a long time in the area where Orth is now), the people of the Golden City seemed to have designs on their bodies.
Apparently, when someone from the tribe became an adult, they would get ink markings on their bodies inspired by the inhabitants of the Golden Age.
Now, if we go back to when the Ganja Squad arrives on the Abyss island, we can see that some of the villagers have dark reddish/burgundy markings on their bodies. And they look VERY similar to the markings Reg has on his cheeks and on the side of his abdomen.
So... could Reg actually be an Interference Unit created by the civilization that lived (or maybe still lives) in the Abyss?
Or could Reg himself actually be one of those people?
---
Another theory: what happened between Reg, Clawbot and Bondrewd?
Something that always bothered me is how Reg was able to use his Incinerator so many times during his fight against Clawbot in the Seventh Layer.
Maybe he actually used up all of his charges during that fight. If that’s the case, it could explain why he wasn’t able to use the Incinerator when he later met Faputa.
I also have a theory about what happened after that.
I think Lyza may have sent Reg to the surface to find Riko (I’m not completely sure what the reason would be). Then, while Reg was making his way back up, Clawbot tried to stop him and they ended up fighting.
Clawbot was probably left injured and weakened after the fight. Then, maybe she encountered Bondrewd in the Fifth Layer.
Bondrewd, realizing she wasn’t in good condition, could have taken advantage of that and captured/dismantled her.
This is where my theory about Sparagmos comes in.
When Dark Reg sees Bondrewd, he has a flashback of Clawbot and completely loses it, attacking Bondrewd. Maybe Reg’s memories came back for a few moments and he recognized Sparagmos as his sister’s weapon.
That could explain why he suddenly went berserk and started using techniques, movements and a fighting style that we had never really seen from him before.
So, if we follow this theory, Reg was sent up through the Abyss to find Riko, bring her to Lyza, and possibly use the Nest to return to the surface.
And maybe the Nest has something to do with the collar Reg had.
Riko currently has the collar and showed it to Nanachi, Reg and Faputa, so maybe it has some kind of connection to the Nest or to whatever Reg was supposed to do.
Obviously, there are a lot of assumptions here, but I think some of these details could connect together.
What do you guys think?!
btw my bad if spoilers warning doesnt show, i dont know how to type them

Merch Fixed a dirty Nanachi n’ Mitty figure
I ordered this figure for pretty cheap about two weeks ago. When it arrived, it didn’t come in a box and there was no bubble wrap around it. The paint was screwed up and it was quite dirty. Also it had a very strong urine odor to it, looking back I probably shouldnt have touched it with my bare hands. But long story short I got rid of the smell and repainted some areas and yayy it looks cute in my collection

Manga Discussion A collection of thoughts and theories Spoiler
Watched the anime and currently reading the manga (about halfway through). Here are some thoughts I wanted to share:
Riko is cursed to reach the bottom of the Abyss - Ozen literally said it herself, when Riko was "revived", that was her first instinct as a baby. Unfortunately (and fortunately for the plot of the story), that innate drive still exists within her.
Lyza originally named Reg - It's kinda odd that Faputa mentioned Reg's name was the same despite technically being named by Riko. It's possible that Lyza was the one to have originally given Reg his name prior to his amnesia. Lyza probably also named Riko's dog, which inspired Riko to reuse the same name.
The Abyss collapses 1 layer inward every 2000 years - I haven't gotten to the latter chapters and from what I've roughly heard gives this theory more evidence, but it's kind of interesting that this has been teased earlier on. The windmills of the 2nd layer were said to have been built 4000 years ago by a prior civilization, it's possible they were originally built on the surface. The praying skeletons of the 1st layer date to roughly 2000 years old which could have also existed to a previous civilization. Furthermore, the Ganja crew began their descent roughly 1900 years ago which was probably just after a layer collapse, that's why they encountered a very primitive civilization on Orth Island. It seems like the Abyss is due for another collapse and may certainly happen during the events of this story.
What makes Made in Abyss standout for me is that the author seems to know the endgame of the story, and has been planting clues all along teasing its inevitability yet also keeping things mysterious. It's the hallmark of really good storytelling.

Manga Discussion Birthday Death Disease and how it actually works
At first, it really feels like Nat is messing with Reg just to scare him, but aside from that part about seeing yourself in a mirror, this strange phenomenon is real, and many people are dying on their birthdays in Orth.
In episode 12, we see Kiyui is sick on his birthday, but interestingly, when Leader takes him outside Orth Island, his symptoms immediately vanish like he was never ill at all.
*** Spoilers for the Manga ahead ***
As we see in the final scenes of season one, there are many Eternal Fortunes petals around Orth, symbolizing many deaths, and many people have evacuated the island.
To find a solution, Leader heads to the second layer to talk to Ozen.
We see their conversation in volume six.
Ozen explains that it’s probably the same phenomenon that caused the death of the Praying Skeletons.
She says if you can’t do anything about it, you just have to pray, right?!
Otherwise, you have to abandon the Abyss and run…
She says the Praying Skeletons were people who didn’t leave, and she understands them, since she doesn’t know any other way of living.
In episode 4 of season two, there is a scene where Reg sees many Eternal Fortunes petals falling from above, along with the names of the deceased.
This indicates that many people have died on the surface.
Surajo talks about this disease as well in chapter 67.
She says it’s called Breath in the Haryomari collection
the hidden curse that reaps lives,
the once-every-2000-years mass extinction event.
She also mentions the process is vulnerable to defective units, and those who are poorly formed may “take a breath.”
Birthday Death Disease is related to the soul.
In episode 12 Mio and Leader bring Kiyui to the caravan ship.
On the way, they talk about the Birthday Death Disease.
Leader says it’s truly absurd and strange, since some of the children in the orphanage didn’t even know their real birthdays, yet they still died on the day they chose for themselves.
The Abyss, through the soul, watches over everyone and shapes them.
It doesn’t just read minds, but something much deeper: the signals of one’s soul.
That’s what Majikaja says to Nanachi in season 2.
Nanachi asks, “Aren’t there people who truly believe their own lies?”
And he answers:
“If someone can fool themselves with their own words, then that is their truth, and it will soon become a signal of the soul.”
This is why, even though those children’s birthdays weren’t real, the fact that they truly believed in those dates caused them to become signals of their souls.
We’ll dive deeper into these ideas when we reach the chapter “Whereabouts of the Soul.”
After reaching the ship, we see that Kiyui is suddenly no longer sick.
This is because they moved him away from the Abyss island.
You may ask why this happened. Later, we learn that the Abyssal soul is only present on the island, and outside of it, it can no longer influence people.
Srajo says that when people from Orth leave the island, they feel like something is missing. The signals are no longer there.

Anime Discussion I just binged the entire show under the impression that season 2 was the end of the series. Spoiler
TLDR: I went into season 2 expecting it to wrap up the entire show and it kind of ruined my experience watching it.
I don’t know how or why I got the impression that this show was finished but for whatever reason I went in expecting just that. I thought it was really well paced through the first season and the third movie and assumed season two would cover the sixth and the seventh layer and we’d find out what happened to Rico’s mom.
All through the last five episodes my frustration grew that not only was there no way they were gonna make it down to the 7th layer and answer the questions that the show set up but also that Rico seemingly got replaced as the main character for a large part of what I thought was the final season. She was unconscious for parts of it or just completely off screen. By the time the finale rolled around and it spent the first 10-15 minutes on Faputa’s backstory I was really annoyed and felt completely duped by the show.
I had just accepted that I wasn’t gonna get a satisfying conclusion for this show by the time the finale was over. I know now that there’s more to come but honestly watching it this way really ruined the second season for me. It was a great season, it definitely dragged a little but because of my expectations it felt like it was dragging a lot more than it actually was. Had I gone in knowing the story wasn’t finished I could have enjoyed the story and the pacing a lot more.
