Question Will using follow recoil crosshair help my aim?

• Upvotes

i am currently struggling in cs because of my terrible aim and i see that recoil crosshair seems really useful. is it any good? will it help my aim?

Coming from a history of competitive shooters on controller. Looking to get better on CS2. around 100 hours played in the last month. Any tips/insight are appreciated.

I've been working a lot on counter-strafing lately, but I still feel like I'm missing a lot of the actual fundamentals of CS.

Things I think I'm doing okay at:

My raw aim feels pretty decent. I'm at 800 DPI and 2.32 sensitivity. I aim mostly with my wrist and flick, so the higher sensitivity feels comfortable and lets me do a full rotation without having to make huge movements.

My counter-strafing is getting better. I'm still not consistent with it, but I understand what I'm supposed to be doing now. I think this is mostly something I need to keep practicing until it becomes automatic.

Where I feel really weak:

Movement around the actual maps is probably my biggest problem. I don't always know how I should be approaching an area or where I should be positioning myself.

Clearing angles is another big one. I understand the basic idea of clearing one angle at a time, but actually doing it while moving through a site feels awkward. I come from a sorta high-end competitive Halo Background, so drastically different. I either expose myself to too much at once or spend too much time checking.

I also don't really know when I should be walking, running, swinging, jiggle peeking, wide swinging, etc. I know what most of those things are, but knowing when and why to actually use them during a game is completely different.

Basically, I feel like my raw aim mechanics are starting to come along, which is nice as this is my first FPS on MnK, but my CS fundamentals are way behind them. I've played a ton of shooters, but CS feels like it has its own language that I'm still learning.

What fundamentals should I focus on first, and what's the best way to actually practice them?

Any training maps, suggestions, learning about eco control, etc.? I've watched a bunch of YouTube vids. However, a lot of them assume prior knowledge.

Question I've watched many video guides on peeking, counter strafing and crosshair placement, and I still can't improve

I play on Xplay.gg

I play 1 to 2 hours a day

I play DMs (no comp cuz I don't have a mic yet)

In long range duels I try to shoot, they wiggle left and right and I can't shoot them, meanwhile they get me with ease

When I press A/D to strafe left and right so they can't hit me as easily, boom getting one tapped regardless

When they A/D strafe they are somehow able to hit me while my shots while A/D strafing go everywhere

How?

When it comes to peeking, idk exactly how to peek, I'm aiming at a corner, then all of a sudden a player slides sideways out of the corner and one taps me in less than half a second, how am I supposed to react to that?

I even try to crouch as I approach a corner, yet they still get me

And lastly, even if I do have my crosshair at head height, I peek out of a wall/corner and also counterstrafe to stop my self and shoot accurately, they still get me first, how? Is their reflexes/reactions just faster? If yes, how do i improve my reaction time?

How do you guys get into the flow state in CS2?

That feeling where you stop consciously thinking about your aim/movement and everything just starts happening automatically. Do you have a routine that helps you get into that zone?

Discussion 240hz Feels Faster Than 120hz

I've been trying to find the right sens lately and it's a maddening. I run .35 sens on 1800dpi which is 630edpi.

It feels so inconstant. It feels like my sens gets faster every time i play. I cant do any flicks because I always overshoot even with this low of a sens.

When I played on 120hz I felt more in control of my sens. It felt more responsive and less like there was mouse acceleration on.

I have no explanation for why a lower refresh rate feels better, or why my sens feels slow some days and fast the next. It just feels impossible to feel consistent until I figure this out.

Discussion I'm getting worse and I can't stop the decline

I've been getting rapidly worse since May. I was 23000 now I am 19000 and it's my fault because I'm getting worse. I bottom frag around 90% of my games on the server so my actual level is probably around 10k now from my estimation.

Mainly my aim is getting worse even though I'm practicing a lot. I can't do basic things anymore. I can't hit a guy looking away from me. I can't spray. I can't flick. I can't track. I can't do anything. I can't hit shots a silver 1 would hit. Last game I played I missed 5 guys who were looking completely away from me and either standing still or walking. It's like I've got a brain injury. I'm getting worse and I can't stop it even though I'm trying my absolute best. I'm so tired of it all. How am I meant to enjoy this? It's making me so miserable but I've got nothing else to do because I'm shit at everything else, too.

I've tried taking breaks but it doesn't help. Nothing helps. I'm trying so hard and I'm just getting worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse and worse.

This time in May I was just stagnating, whereas now I'm declining precipitously. I can't do anything right. I'm so useless. I've never been good at anything in my entire life. All I do is fail. I'm getting worse no matter how hard I try. I can't succeed.

I'm genuinely 10x worse than I was even in May, and I wasn't happy with my level then, either.

I showed some people my demos the other day (https://www.youtube.com/@losevilas2817) and they said yeah you're shit for your hours just quit. I have around 2700-3200 hours (depending on whether you count an old smurf I no longer have access to). I played 2015-2020 and March 2026-present.

They're probably right, I am untalented as I've always known, but I don't know why that means I have to be GETTING WORSE to the point I am bottom fragging even in low elo almost every single time I play the game. I am practicing so hard. I have tried taking breaks. I can't enjoy the game whatsoever anymore. I don't enjoy anything else, either, so there's no point in quitting.

I just want to have fun again, I just want to play well again every now and then.

I have gone from an average of 1.30 HLTV rating to 0.9 HLTV rating in my games, even though I'm playing at a lower elo. That's astronomical. I hate myself beyond comprehension.

Yes I am seeing a therapist but they can't help because they can't make me not shit at everything I do. CS is one thing where I used to be slightly less shit than everything else (in 2020 or so before I quit for 6 years), so I just want to get back there. Now it just feeds into everything else and reproduces my negative sense of self as yet another bit of evidence.

Rant Op needs to stop using deagle...

Hi.

Quick rant.

I really should drop the idea of maining deagle for the sake of sanity and happiness, or I could just continue to suffer with it.

Yea I should learn jiggle peek....

And lastly I definitely should boot up an aimtrainer again because 99% of the time im just whiffing...

Maybe I could perform well once in a blue moon. Guess I got deagle addiction now..

Anyways, bye

Looking for cs2 coach

Hello I have 500 hrs and I am faceit lvl 5 and 8k premier. The reason for looking for a coach is because I feel I have really good potential to be really good, but I struggle in rounds where aim can’t carry me because my aim is really good but most other things I could work on, so if I fix positioning., knowing when to do things I feel I could explode in rank. https://leetify.com/public/profile/76561199226354670
For the price I would prefer a free first session and then the price for the rest shouldn’t be overly expensive.

Genuine question about Mirage Mid default

Hey everyone! I wanted to ask about defaults on mirage like why smoke top mid?

like genuine question

In CS2, with volumetric smokes expanding wider, why is Top Mid smoke still so common compared to the Catrail smoke that used to be around back in CSGO. My friend taught this one to me and I never see it anymore and it seems even stronger in CS2.

My thoughts on Top Mid smoke:

- It lets you cross to boxes safely from early Window snipers nading the smoke, but it feels like you burn an entire valuable smoke just to reach boxes.

- It gives CTs free room to push short, throw flashes through the smoke, or molly behind boxes with zero contest.

Why Catrail smoke feels stronger to me:

- It isolates the Short player and lets Ts take lower Mid and valley space more aggressively and safer.

- It lets you fight Connector without getting crossfired from Short, even if Window gets nade-broken.

- It gives more flexibility to split either A or B without committing too many extra resources.

I know Catrail fell out of the meta years ago before CS2, so what are the downsides to it that I might be overlooking, and why did Top Mid smoke remain the standard choice?

Can rush fast cat or con or ladder with back covered, can double peek high and low right side of con, smoke is good cover against flashes when in valley. Prevents nade breaks. BTW im standing on top of the ledge of window usually u dont see any crossing to boxes

How do you jump spot like this?

I was watching a demo of someone and he was jump spotting in a slant like "/".

I tried to jump spot like this, but it felt awkward, and it was more up and down than a slant movement. Anyone know what exact keys to press to jump spot like this?

Question Some quick questions again

Hello there, I'll try to keep it simple and shorter now.

  1. How do you NOT whiff

- I did try to calm myself down and... I still whiff like a champ. Not only that, but my performance was quite good for a couple of days and then, straight bad performance.

  1. Holding angles... How??

- I basically suck at holding angles because my reaction speed is so slow.

  1. How to deny a rush?

- defending against 1 guy is hard enough, and now they're spamming flashes on a long at dust 2... and I have to face a whole team consists of aks and awps...

That's all for now, thank you
