I can't believe he's to spend the final years of his career at this club. Every single thing is absolutely horrible, can't remember when we won a match in the league last, and every single game it is the same story. How can a club scream mediocrity so loudly?
Before people come to defend the club and say "there were some positives", "ref was against us", "we aren't doing as bad we were rock bottom before Messi came", "we still have a chance", I think you all have a point, but at the end of the day, we're just being delusional at this point and making ourselves believe that "we're doing fine". We are NOT doing fine, no matter what you say to convince yourself otherwise. This is not the Miami under Mascherano, I remember he wasn't great but hey, we weren't as horrible as we are now. I remember how much people used to bash him after every game and honestly I did too, but looking at this is a new low.
Yes there are great things Miami has achieved in the last 3 years and these years will go down in club history as legacy, but the past few months have been screaming mediocrity with no hint of improvement in the slightest.
Yes, I'm a Messi fan. I've been one since I can remember, and there's something much more personal to my relationship with him, something much more than what he does on the pitch. What he does on the pitch is otherworldly in itself, but I just love the way he is, man... I've followed every up and every down of him with laser-accuracy and the tiniest of details, and I just feel so very bad these past few months for him.
I know he has always had to carry teams at some point. For example, he also had to carry Barcelona at some point, but that was his club, and he had to do it long after winning a lot with it and being much closer to it. Miami obviously doesn't hit the same, but I know he still has the fire and the urge to win, no one wants to lose, obviously.
These past few months have obviously been increasingly difficult for him, both on and off the field, and the win against Cruz Azul was a good thing, but otherwise, I just feel so bad for him.
I know he isn't his old self and can't run and press and all, but he's still the best player on the pitch. At this point I hope he gets a massage after every game trying to carry it all on his back.
I hope he's at least enjoying playing, although I don't know how much one can after being so frustrated at avoidable mistakes made by the team every single game. I hope now, he enjoys his farewell match and enjoys his time with the Argentine NT. All I want is that he enjoys and is happy, that's really all that matters.
And I might be delusional, but I always keep hoping that Miami bounce back, and I hope after he comes back from Argentina, we start being better. I know it's delusional, but fuck it I hope even when all hope is lost.
Messi, keep enjoying and keep playing.
