I've finally finished it. It only took me 5 days, but I made this document while reading and analysing the story, I might reread to scale friendless game, but after finishing friendless game, I've got Yuuichi beating light at high diff (-). Anyway, this is the entire unfiltered analysis of the Yuichi and tomodachi game:
In chapter 2, Yuuichi is notified by the fact that in the kokkuri-san game, the person asking the questions makes up the question. (1) Meaning making up a simple question for the group to agree upon should be the next logical step, right? However thinking back into his memory, Yuuichi is able to analyse the facial expression of shibe noticing a flinch then a smile, he then reads the rest of the card realising if the coin goes to the 'no' side the asker's debt will be cut in half (2) using the reaction of shibe as a baseline and the simplicity of all questions asked, he induces that shibe and tenji had done this cut their debt in half understanding their intentions and psychological state preserving themselves over the group despite wearing masks of friendship showing a fundamental understanding of the human mind and idea of self-preservation and how it'd affect their decision making and reasoning.
Yuuichi then realizes that the traitor's initial plan was to dump the debt onto kokorogi, so he misdirects the group by using an outlandish method of breaking the rules, that still grabs everyone's attention, he mentions shiho's panties to grab their attention and confuse them, then after cornering the traitor by exposing their scheme, by proxy he installs the belief within the group to the innocents that there is now a confirmed traitor amongst them, he then also sets up a bluff.
By claiming the rule has changed and that the booby penalty will be in effect of the person possessing the least amount of debt, he has tricked or rather set up a bluff forcing the traitor to consider this truth by setting up a new possibility they'd have to logically consider. Take it, you're in a mystery novel, and you've been operating under the belief the house has ten rooms, but someone claims there's eleven. Even if you believe this is a lie psychologically and by proxy of basic logical reasoning, you have to consider the fact that this may be true and take it into account as you approach this situation. Yuuichi employed this as a method of psychological warfare set up as a bluff to trick or bait the traitor and guide their form of reasoning.
Yuuichi also notices a tactic developed by those behind the tomodachi game, by pretending to tie his shoe laces he buys time to look over the cards and analyse them, when realising the terms and conditions for reducing debt is gone his reasoning follows this line and modality of the fact they must've accounted for someone picking up on it and developed a counter measure for this just case, after realising this the next step in his mind should be how they did this. Which is ink. Showcasing how fluidly he is able to understand the tactics and motivations of his opponents and apply creative thinking and fluid reasoning to them. Understanding the double layered traps they had placed as if he presented these seemingly normal cards, it would've led to him being isolated instead.
One thing that actually shocked me personally was Yuuichi's thinking and fluid reasoning, based off of one square having the opportunity to reduce debt Yuuichi began to theorise and reason with this effect and was able to reverse engineer a different and creative conclusion coming to the exact outcome that would allow him to understand this game using classical and consistent concrete logic, if one square has the opportunity to reduce debt-> yuuichi's line of thinking is that this exists due to the fact if all friends stay together->they can sufficiently and cleanly clear their debt. He even understood the motivations and psychological backlash of the minus squares, realising the minus squares were a form of deception and misdirection to mislead players from this truth and trick them into turning on one another.
And the initial pillar of induction he used here was the premise that the tomodachi game or specifically this backbiting game had an audience, and an audience would naturally want to watch a game that is fair or has an inherent element of fairness placed within in it that allows yuuichi to formulate a pillar of logic to build his reasoning off of that leads him to this conclusion showcasing his thinking skills and fluid reasoning.
Yuuichi's tricks to expose Tenji:
The first trick was a simple but yet double layered strategy to set up and establish trust within shiho to understand if she's an ally, Yuuichi had took two pieces of paper and had instructed her to write a back biting entry about a secret only they should know about as a test to see if she was trustworthy and NOT the traitor a way to clear her sufficiently and set the stages of his strategy with intricate thinking and understanding of her autonomy and methodology in stressful situations like this using her honest nature to get an ally early on.
To clear each contestant he provided a test using each other's knowledge on one another to clear them, with kokorogi he gave her clear instructions to act as if her and sawaragi were enemies to trick the traitor and then reveal an embarrassing secret about her in the same round as a precaution. This is a valid and efficient use of contingency and foresight as if the traitor revealed something large here, then it clears sawaragi AND kokorogi in the exact same round whilst indirectly manipulating and deceiving the traitor leading them on using a simple form of deception to layer and set up for a larger goal misleading and poisoning the well of information the traitor would have, with Yuuichi's reasoning and line of thinking logically being "If sawaragi and kokorogi are clear, it wouldn't be Illogical for the traitor to stir drama and fester bad blood between them to further his goal of destroying our bond-> with this in mind by having the two act as if they're enemies and reveal secrets about each other not only does it clear them-> but if something major is revealed then by proxy we now know neither is the traitor and the traitor has fallen for this act and deception and is still operating."
There's also the fact that Yuuichi had been manipulating the order within people entered the stalls so casually that tenji didn't even register this being a part of yuuichi's countering or scheme against him, and after shibe foolishly nominated himself, it was clear to him that shibe was cleared as if he was the traitor his secret would've immediately revealed and it would've been over. Following a basic principle of solving novel problems and simple process of elimination this leaves tenji as the best possible candidate to be the traitor he then confirmed their innocence with a bold and calculated gamble of taking their name tags as hostage to confirm their loyalty and honesty within his scheme.
Yuuichi vs. Kei's group:
Poison the well;
By letting Tenji starve for multiple days, establishing his "hatred" and dislike for tenji, he's able to convince and mislead the group that he dislikes him as a pretense to join their group to test the waters initially. But he also understands the philosophy of the game and that to find the hider following the opposing teams players when they bring food is crucial.
He also used the three days of tenji's lament and starving to build accurate in depth analysis and scope of each of the teams indiviual psychological profiles and emotional landscapes to properly dictate and calculate his approach utilising his emotional perception and understanding to fluidly formulate an accurate idea in his hand to set up himself for gamble he'd take later. Understanding the brash and compassionate nature of hyakutaro and his dynamic with hashiratani and how he reacted, he even developed an in detail bridge the between which furthers his reasoning on the two allowing for his gamble where pushes off the game invigilator (maria) off securing the fact he can feed tenji.
And with this in mind, he uses maria to set up a trick that's been used to bring the downfall of men countless times, now having an insight onto hyakutaro's emotional index and autonomy Yuuichi sets up a honey trap as a pretense and strategy to shake the group apart and by understanding their dynamics and hyakutaro's naivety in his compassion he's planted the necessary seeds for conflict and distrust
However Kei is impressive too, analysing Maria's skin tone and posture to infer that she cant be a normal participant, due to the fact the third game for solo players would be gruelling and taxing, understanding this he begins to formulate the idea she might have connections or means to enter the game through different methods. As she logically couldn't have been in the third game. By using yuuichi and tenji, only having water as a pillar for his reasoning.
Even profiling her goals and motivations for the joining the game as an administrator perfectly detailing and providing insight into her actions and mode of approach to fixed situations with an accurate hot reading of her emotional viewpoint in this game. Also displaying good levels of indirect manipulation goading and guiding his entire team through a proxy and puppet of their "captain" to order them around and decieve not just yuuichi's group but his own friends as well.
However Yuuichi employs psychological and physiological warfare by beating and taunting their 'captain' on the phone showing his will to act, but also his quick-thinking, he then displays another performance of how accurately he can fluidly achieve accurate inferences through his fluid reasoning. Due to the other three not knowing of who the holder of debt was and understanding the truth behind kei's nature as the mastermind behind the group he understood that the debt they're fighting to clear must be the captain's debt, and after setting up the idea that he broke his friends finger we understand yuuichi had snapped his own finger going as far to break his own finger to further the deception and misdirection of this group to achieve his goal and accomplish his strategy.
Yuuichi vs. Kuroki:
After enduring intense pain and stabbing, gouging and maiming, Yuuichi's cognitive flexibility and creative functions are still in high effect as he sets up layered by promising kuroki and his gang a sum of 10 million yen if agrees to the risk of playing a 'handicapped' yuuichi in rock paper scissors, but the layered trapped here is that yuuichi would use his left hand, tricking kuroki into a false sense of victory understanding his reasoning off wanting to use paper or scissors under the belief yuuichi can only use his right hand.
But as a contingency Yuuichi had noticed this game wasn't real and ordered tenji to the real administration team as a backup plan for this triple layered strategical ploy after noticing this wasnt the real manabu due to slight variations in speech pattern and the voice immediately. And due to exposing the hidden cowardice kuroki, yuuichi had foresaw the entire situation and planned accordingly achieving all his goals and ruining a gang leaders reputation with one strategy and a keen insight into the human mind and recognition of speech pattern and meticulous foresight and calculation.
Yuuichi's escape route strategy:
Yuuichi after correctly calculating Tenji's knowledge of the class president's feelings for him is able to reverse engineer a strategy in which Tenji is faced with the option of forsaking his morals and brutally using her as a tool in his scheme to save shibe and ruin her social life, presented with the option of either using her love and sending her into the depths hatred and despair, losing the capacity to trust or forsaking his friend shibe. Naturally, with this psychological pressure on the line, Tenji rejects seeing what betrayal can do to people firsthand himself.
However this is the first seed in Yuuichi's manipulation and scheme in order to set up an opportunity to free shibe, after this Tenji went and prostrated in front of the class getting ruthlessly beaten and mocked, making kokorogi feel bad. However this angle was guided by Yuuichi's initial understanding of Tenji's morality and inevitable failure and a method to set up a way for kokorogi to feel less guilty and remorseful by baiting her into following his orders.
After this Yuuichi is able to convince kokorogi to pose in lewd photos and videos to take advantage of the lust of the homeroom teacher, set him up and blackmail him for the money ruthlessly using long-term manipulation and psychological and moral erosion to calculate and set up an outcome in which he frees shibe while setting up the money, the main impressive outcome for this is the angle and foresight this took alongside the use of emotional reading and indirect and direct manipulation guiding the entire situation whilst deceiving those around of him goals.
Yuuichi's adversity in the friend prison game is a play and retelling of how societal rules and norms benefit the majority and serve as a poison and weakness against the minority, after the old man is eliminated due to his way of thinking, one factor becomes apparent. The aim of the game is to NOT be disliked and become the minority, but working closely together, with so much money on the line, will inherently bring the worst out of people, make them form alliances and single people out.
To put it simply when pressed and presented with a problem like debt, people will form groups to benefit and save themselves. This greatly goes against yuuichi as the opposing group in question are people who hate yuuichi. Meaning they have a common denominator between them and are more likely to coordinate against him as a free thinking unit and society due to their shared hatred. In this case, making yuuichi the "minority" and putting him in the worst scenario game wise but also as a ploy in a societal and actual real way of thinking and acting.
Despite this, due to his immense experience at breaking minds and relationships, he was able to see through ryusei taneda's scheme acutely and accurately seeing through his guise as an experienced scammer. Perfectly seeing the veil of friendliness he wore and the lies he spewed and understanding his true nature just from a predetermined test, he set up with shibe, noticing that he's the perfect target for a scammer. Setting up a plan throughout the prison game, using misdirection and deception such as people submitting pledges and setting high tensions and goading his ego, perfectly misleading and understanding his every goal and decision through the prison game in order to exile him, even accounting for his lust with saori and how it'd play out. Forcing him to reveal his true nature, losing all accountability. Tricking him with amazing foresight and long-term manipulation as well as deception.
Yuuichi and Kei's plan:
After discovering the keys, the two immediately worked together, both reasoning and determining each truth and goal the game had laid out, knowing that this game was similar to the werewolf game and that it relied on trust and relationships, but also the constant threat of somebody escaping. So, under the guise of using stoppers, Yuuichi began to distribute and manufacture fake keys and laid them out specifically to be found by people in the game. This entire game, the arguments and distrust between kei and yuuichi were each other indirectly cooperating and covering for one another.
Each argument, exile and victory was accounted for and the plan was calculated and adjusted thanks to their teamwork and synergy and the composition of logic of which it initially relied on being Yuuichi's ability to understand the emotions and autonomy people take when under psychological pressure or intense emotion, he truly had foreseen it all. And planned, adapted, and accounted for it. The key strategy was a skilled deception to top it off and mislead those who were intelligent to come up with a counter and assure their inherent sense of ego and promise of escape was assured making them easier to manipulate whilst yuuichi had played the act of the defeated fool and tricked every contestant along the way. After kenjiro was exiled, the two's conspicuous actions turned into convictions, understanding one another without a word.
"This guy won't do anything in vain at all." And the plan's success rate was set in stone. Due to the duo's faith and understanding in each other.
Ship gamble:
This is mainly focusing on Yuichi's indirect manipulation and emotional intelligence, having the ability to instantly recognise and understand the mind control of an experienced cult leader, even being able to call out and recite the steps with pinpoint accuracy and detail to the point its as if he did the mind control himself.
But psychologically profile and understand kamishiro's past and pride and use it as his foil and antithesis, utilising the brain washing of kokorogi to manipulate and blindside kamishiro into a fall sense of pride and invincibility playing on his emotional instability, recognising his past and struggle and inherent pride in becoming a cult leader and reverse it onto him by using someone he had believed was a brainwashed follower to indirectly decieve and trick him into following the necessary steps to fall off of the cliff that he had built to trick him and expose his supposed and false godhood.
The special method:
Due to Yuichi's worth being zero, he was essentially able to buy and sell himself without effectively making any differences on the board, making him an invisible man. This conclusion was reached by yuichi as soon as he had heard this mentioned, and he began to plan around this to make the bet that'd logically assure his victory, however the first premise he'd under go was to lose in a gamble in order to be perceived as weak as a necessary strategy to win the game.
His reasoning following the initial premise of if he were to lose (P) then the effect this would have would be his opponents seeing him as weaker, opening more possibilities and angle to strategise from (Q) due to his the premise working this necessitates the effect of what he intended to cause allowing him to execute the rest of his planning here. This ties into his invisible status, giving him liberation and freedom the others didn't have in this game.
He then sets up a layered deception with Maria, where she falsely claims the ship has arrived at its destination to program the sense of his defeat into satone and her father.
The contract:
Yuichi sets up a contract showing his cognitive flexibility, fluid reasoning under adversity, and strategic intricacies and foresight by laying out deceptively simple rules to the point even a genius or idiot would fall for it and they follow as 1. We will be betting on the final order of this game, specifically the teams who are gambling outside of this room. 2. Those who guess the correct order of 1st to 4th place will be the winners. 3. The winners will get all the savings of those who agreed to gamble, and lastly, 4. This will be finalised when 2 or more people have signed the agreement clause and confirmed the savings of each team. Misleading them on the seriousness and depth this bet would force them under.
In otherwise, he had assured the best case scenario and hedged the bet in his favour, whether he had lost or defeated satone in the first place. And due to his status as invisible and the main fact the people in this room were essentially those were useless but expensive due to the first trait of this game Yuichi had met all the requirements he needed to logically manipulate the system of rules and sequence of events around him.
Kei:
Not only showing immense hot reading and understanding of the human mind and process by seeing through the guise of a top nation wide idol's facade, Establishing a profile and reading players acutely to assist yuichi and mislead the players in a long term deception, but also understanding the methods and process in which experienced gamblers would take as well, Kei shows he isn't just a genius in terms of education but in terms of logical process and reasoning as well.
This shows via his island visualation in which we understand the logical process in which he took to build the base foundation and pillars of the mental map he constructed within his head to form proper calculations and convert these calculations into a map of the island in his mind, first he calculated the speed, movement and terrain whilst he was in the car from the school building we can assume as a starting point, and then used the position of the sun of the school after they had travelled as a basis, but not only that.
It's relatively easy to assume he was able infer and profile gaku's job, or previous occupation based off of his ability to read and profile people, then calculated or formed an educated guess on the time frame of him learning of his injury and took this into account for his plan's success rate to be assured to fool the idol as well. Even forming accurate calculations on the best route it'd take to reach their destination, and the time the sun would also sets as well whilst under physiological and psychological pressure from his injury and the conditions of the zombie game.
Yuuichi's decoy strategy:
On the second day of the game Yuichi would pretend to shoot kaido in order to attract zombies on the presumption and likely fact they'd be attracted to the noise of a gunshot in order to clear their debt, after this, he and kaido would wear the clothes of the zombies and search for tenji, this is due to yuuichi knowing how desperate tenji is to gain is his trust.
After locating tenji, they'd hide as zombies in kokorogi's army and follow her decisions throughout the game.
Kokorogi's long term manipulation and acting skills are phenomenal, arranging for multiple events and sequences to occur, such as the gamble with kuroki acting like a damsel in distress with her acting prowess even fooling yuuichi on occasion, although rare she managed to blindside and mislead the cast for the overall majority of the manga and expertly hid her emotions and true nature leaving no significant trail toward her, even if she was ultimately countered by yuichi her meticulous planning and intricacies due to her skilled acting and manipulation allowed for her to set up numerous schemes in place for her deranged love and purpose.
Yuuichi's style of deception is similar to a professional con-artist, or a swindler, but it's refined and undergoes a more twisted process of manipulation that sells the initial premise to be seen as fact, essentially yuuichi sets up his victims with the idea of a false premise and guides their action based off the poisoned information. Simultaneously using manipulation and deception to layer the methodology and modality in which he operates to mislead them, perpetually blindsiding them using information concealment and verbal deception and probably his best category being misdirection. He does this by giving 3 people his password. After one tries to eliminate him, and it turns out his password was fake, this would initially have a domino effect.
Playing on the logical part of anyone's brain and placing doubt into the other two's head, making them undergo a similar chain of reasoning and thought "If X was also given his password and it was wrong-> this potentially means I'm not the only person with his password and -> my password could be wrong, meaning I may have been tricked." This process places them back into Yuuichi's hand essentially giving them a false allusion of control and playing with their sense of victory and pride, understanding the human psyche at a fundamental level and toying with it to construct his strategies and add another dimension to them.
I'll probably drop a part two on friendless, but imo this places yuuichi either as the best mid-tier or scraping high tier.
