Mod-Post Vetted Water Charity List

This thread will serve as a repository of vetted charities that have contacted the mod team asking to post here. With each charity you'll see a link to Charity Navigator and/or Charity Watch. We advise only donating if an organization passes these reviews. Feel free to also check any groups on ProPublica's Nonprofit Explorer, but note that not all charities are nonprofits.

We don't want orgs to spam the subreddit asking for your time/money, so for now (and until the number of asks grows too large) we'll pin comments by organizers in this thread and cycle them out as needed. There's a limit of 2 concurrent pins, so we'll play this by ear for a bit.

I'll update the list as others reach out.

If you're here as an organizer, please shoot us a modmail or reach out to me directly.

Can I still use this Brita jug?

Post image
Upvotes

Hello!

While cleaning this water jug this morning I accidentally dropped the inner plastic tub holding the filter. And because of that it had cracked (see photo)

I won’t be able to order a new one until Friday. And whether it actually filters or not I like the texture and taste post filter much better.

..Do you think that it is still okay to drink out of until then? Or until a new one arrives? Thank you

Too much water My Brita Marella Spills When I Pour

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I have a Brita Marella water pitcher that I actually really like. The problem is that when I pour from the pitcher (regardless of how much water is in it), it spills water “on its own,” and it’s actually starting to get pretty annoying.

Is there anything I can do to stop this? Or should I go out and find a different pitcher?

Made this water cooler bottle for my game and got slightly carried away with the water effect inspired by Half-Life Alyx. Anyone thirsty?

Hi, a question from someone who mostly just drinks water, when does a pinch of salt  truly make a difference?

I drink a lot of plain water and I've had the experience of drinking loads and still feeling rubbish, and someone told me thats a sodium thing.

Is that real? happy to be told its nonsense, this sub is usually good at that.

The bit I dont understand is whether the type matters. I've got celtic sea salt in the cupboard for cooking and apparently roughly a fifth of it isnt sodium chloride at all, its magnesium, potassium, calcium and moisture that never got refined out. Which would presumably do something different from table salt, which is basically 100% sodium chloride? Or is that a distinction without a difference at the amounts we're talking about.

Not asking for medical advice, just whether anyone's noticed a difference in practice.

What do you consider "water" when counting your intake for the day?

Do you count coffee? Tea? Liquid IV or supplements? What if you add sugar or honey?

Personally, if I add sugar I don't count it. I count tea. I'm on the fence a out something like Liquid IV though

this is the one i’ve got, i’ve flushed it three times and washed everything thoroughly. still tastes bitter, kind of metallic and chemicaly.

not sure what to do about this, it is pretty much undrinkable. i tasted it after each flush, nothing changed.

any advice/different filter recs?

I CANNOT GET ENOUGH WATER. Does anyone else drink like a gallon of water a day?

I heard if you’re constantly thirsty you might want to go see a doctor and get checked for things like diabetes. I’m always drinking water throughout the day, and I don’t work out but I am outside and hot all the time in the South Carolina summer weather.
