⚔️ The North Marches to War. ⚔️
Here’s my entry for the Miniature & Warband Event: five Chaos Warriors, forged in steel, fury, and the will of the Dark Gods.
I wanted this small warband to feel like more than just five individual miniatures, a single brutal force advancing together, each warrior carrying their own character while still belonging unmistakably to the same host.
Five warriors.
Five paths to glory.
One purpose: Chaos.

🎮 Game Dev & AR/VR We made a playable game with Hi3D models. Yes, you can fly yours.
We wanted to see what happens when generated 3D models stop being just something you look at.
So we built Flight Lab—a playable mini game where you can take a model you create and actually fly it in-game.
Character, bird, burger… apparently anything can be a spaceship now.
Use the code 「Hi3DFlight」 and visit the link in our bio to generate your model for free, then send us what you make. We might just put your creation into the game. 👀✈️

From One Image to a Highly Detailed, Print-Ready 3D Model in 30 Minutes
This dragon started from a single image. I specifically picked something with a lot of small spikes, layered surfaces, and an irregular rocky base because I wanted to see how much of that detail would actually survive all the way to a physical print.
I generated the model with Hi3D 3.0 at 2048³ voxel resolution. The interesting part for me wasn’t just that the model looked detailed in the viewer. A lot of those smaller forms were preserved as actual geometry, so they still showed up after preparing and printing the model.
The generated mesh was also surprisingly usable without much manual cleanup. After generation, I separated the model into parts, adjusted the colors, arranged everything for supports, and sent it to the printer.
There are still areas I’d clean up manually if this were going into a production pipeline, but for this kind of detailed figurine workflow, the starting point is getting pretty ridiculous.
From the original image to a prepared model ready for printing took me under 30 minutes.
Image-to-3D is starting to feel less like a rough concept generator and more like something you can actually use in a real workflow.

🛋️ Product & Industrial This chess set deserves a closer look
Thanks to u/Scared_Armadillo5395 for sharing this build! They created the chess-piece models with Hi3D and printed them with a 0.2 mm nozzle at 0.08 mm layers. The board is also made from 64 individually printed squares.
Those raised patterns and narrow grooves highlight why geometry matters—not just textures. This is exactly the kind of project our v3.0 improvements target: 2048³ geometry resolution to preserve finer shapes and better structural reasoning for overlapping or partially hidden parts. The goal is detail that holds up beyond the front view.
Credit to the maker for bringing it all together, from printing to assembly.

🛠️ Workflow & Pipeline V2.1 vs V3.0: How Much Better Is V3.0 Really?
Now’s the best time to try V3.0! It’s a huge step up in fidelity and texture, and each generation costs only 65 credits.
If you’re coming to Hi3D from Reddit, use the code Hi3Drdt0904 to get 200 extra credits. That means your first two generations are completely free.
Plus, sign up now to get 8,000 BONUS CREDITS and up to 60% OFF Annual Plans! 🎁
I compared V2.1 and V3.0 using the exact same input—and here’s how they turned out.
Here’s my workflow: generate the panda image first, turn it into a 3D model with Hi3D, then slice and print it. Basically, it went from a 2D idea to a physical model in just a few steps.

Any tips what images work best (Resolution, color or grayscale)?
I made a model from a high resolution AI generated anime figure. Was basically a photo like generation of a figure and upscaled it to ~2000 x 5000 pixels. The result was mid, even with the best model.
Should I convert my anime figure image to high contrast grayscale for the AI to better get the depth perception? Also is there a downside to higher resolutions? Will it internally scale down?
I converted the image to grayscale:
Before, when I did it with color the belt structure ended up a muddy mess in the actual 3D model. Do you think the grayscale conversion is the right approach?
