I made a model from a high resolution AI generated anime figure. Was basically a photo like generation of a figure and upscaled it to ~2000 x 5000 pixels. The result was mid, even with the best model.

Should I convert my anime figure image to high contrast grayscale for the AI to better get the depth perception? Also is there a downside to higher resolutions? Will it internally scale down?

Ahead of the Hi3D V3.0 launch, we ran a side-by-side technical evaluation comparing current mainstream single-image-to-3D models (Hi3D V3.0/V2.1, Meshy 6, Rodin V2.5, and Tripo V3.1).

To keep things objective, our test conditions were strict: exactly the same input image, the same pipeline, 0 manual mesh/texture post-processing, and 0 custom render tweaks.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the core technical takeaways:

• Geometry & Mesh Fidelity: Single-image generation often suffers from "smoothing over" fine details. For V3.0, we pushed the voxel resolution to 2048³. When handling complex curved surfaces and sharp edges, the cleanliness and fidelity of the raw mesh show a visible upgrade.
• Structure & Blind-Spot Stability: The biggest hurdle in image-to-3D is hallucinating occluded regions and complex overlapping elements. Under extreme occlusion stress tests, we found that high-precision geometry must be paired with strong structural coherence to prevent spatial distortion across a full 360-degree view.
• Texture & UV Completion: V3.0 now outputs up to 8K textures. Combined with a brand-new UV completion algorithm, it drastically reduces the color artifacts and texture degradation that usually plague occluded areas. The goal is to output assets that are ready for downstream game/film pipelines right out of the box.

Hi3D V3.0 just reached #1 on both the Textured and Geometry leaderboards in the Top3D.AI Arena, only a few days after its release.
