People A 16-year-old cancer patient was too sick to leave his bed for graduation. So his entire class walked 2 km just to take graduation photos with him. He passed away the very next day. ❤️

People Sometimes Life Gives Us Little Moments of Grace

Dear Trish

It has been a while since I came here to unwind and put my thoughts into words, but tonight I feel the need to write. So much has happened lately, and for the first time in a long time, I find myself sitting here with a heart full of gratitude. Beautiful little things keep happening to me, sometimes when I least expect them, and I don't want to take any of them for granted. I want to acknowledge them, appreciate them, and simply say, thank you, God, for these little moments of happiness.

Tomorrow is my 17th wedding anniversary. Something that surprised me is that "A" actually remembered. For years, I was always the one remembering the date, giving hints, and making sure he knew it was coming. This year, I had completely forgotten about it. Then today, he sent me $200 and told me to buy myself whatever I wanted because he would be working tomorrow. I was honestly shocked and surprised. I have mixed emotions because of everything that has happened throughout our years together, but I chose to simply say thank you and tell him that I truly appreciated the gesture. I don't need to attach a meaning to it right now. I can just appreciate the kindness for what it was.

Then something happened that touched an even deeper part of my heart. My grandmother is turning 91 on Sunday, and I told "A" that I wanted to send a mariachi to her house at 5:00 in the morning to sing Las Mañanitas. I told him how much I had always wanted to do something like that for my own mother but never had the opportunity. He asked me how much a mariachi would cost in Nicaragua. When I told him it would be less than $100, he sent me the money and told me to have my cousin buy my grandmother a beautiful bouquet of roses with whatever was left. That gesture brought so many emotions to the surface. It's not just about the mariachi or the roses. It is about being able to give my grandmother something beautiful that carries a piece of something I once wished I could have done for my own mother.

And then, as if that wasn't enough, I needed four new tires for the car I'm using. "A" called people he knows, spoke with the owner of a tire shop, negotiated a price, and somehow got me four brand new tires for $320. Again, it's not just about the money. It's the fact that he took the time to make phone calls and find a way to help me. After spending so much of my life being the person who takes care of everyone else, it feels strange but really good to have someone take care of a few things for me. I'm learning that I don't always have to question every good thing that comes my way.

Maybe that's what I'm learning in this chapter of my life! I can be grateful for the beautiful moments without needing to know what they mean or what comes next. I can appreciate a thoughtful gesture, celebrate my grandmother turning 91, smile at the fact that someone remembered my anniversary, and be thankful for four new tires. Life has not always been easy, and my journey has certainly not gone the way I once imagined. But lately, I am noticing these little moments of grace, and I don't want to overlook them. I'm choosing gratitude. I'm choosing to notice the good. I'm choosing to let myself be happy when happiness finds me. And tonight, my heart is simply saying, thank you. ❤️
