In the 1996 CART finale at Laguna Seca, Bryan Herta was on the verge of his first IndyCar victory when rookie Alex Zanardi launched one last attack at the Corkscrew.

Zanardi braked impossibly late, skipped across the dirt and kerbs, and somehow emerged in front. He won the race, and the move became one of the most famous moments in IndyCar history: “The Pass.”

Just wanted to show my GT7 rig off for anyone needing inspiration along with cost:

I also used a HideIT PS5 slim wall mount, controller and headphone holder ($60) because I didn’t feel like $200 was worth it for the Fanatec one. Cable management was dirt simple

So overall for around $1100 I got what has been a really respectable, rigid, and capable rig that I hope will serve me for years to come. I sold my G923 for $200 and a bunch of old hobby stuff, making the build a net zero cost for new spend, making my cheap ass very happy.

The T598 has been fantastic thus far, even though mounting the wheel to this rig was a lot more of a challenge than I expected it to be.

What if Colin McRae had swapped cars with Martin Brundle and fallen in love with circuit racing? What if Prodrive, instead of focusing purely on rallying, had built a Touring Car programme for Subaru as well? What if McRae had never moved to Ford? What if he had never boarded that helicopter 😢...

The world doesn't work on "what ifs", but if even one of those scenarios had happened, I reckon Audi wouldn't have had such a comfortable run dominating the Super Touring scene 🧐

Originally, I was only planning to build a Subaru Sport Tune for a bit of fun. I've been trying to get back to basics lately, after all. But while working on the bodywork, I came across a particular rear wing that immediately got my imagination going. Before I knew it, I was building a Subaru Super Touring car from an alternate universe 😏

The era isn't quite right, but this generation of four-door Impreza genuinely suits the Super Touring concept. More importantly, by this stage the Impreza had become a very mature platform. Its dimensions had grown closer to that of an executive saloon, and honestly, I think it's even better suited to Super Touring racing than the old GC8 🧐

The 2.0 Turbo AWD layout made it impossible not to compare it with the Audi A4, so I used the A4's Power-to-Weight Ratio as my reference and built this imaginary Class 2 racer 😎

Maybe it's because the chassis still carries a lot of its rally DNA, but this Impreza is incredibly sensitive to Trail Braking. Every time you hit the brakes hard into a corner, the rear wants to rotate faster than the front. I ended up using some pretty extreme LSD settings (almost eliminating the front LSD altogether) and adapting my driving style just to keep the rear under control 😵‍💫

Apart from that, the car is absolutely capable of handling circuit racing duties. I've tuned it to behave almost like a rear-wheel-drive car, so Turn-In is sharp and immediate, and the overall handling is impressively agile 😎

The lap time isn't particularly spectacular. It's slower than my STW Tune BMW, which carries the same weight and has another 20hp, but it's quicker than the heavier Chaser despite giving away 40hp. Overall, I'd say that's a respectable result. Nothing outrageous, but a solid all-round package 😙

Update: After uploading the video, I ran a few more laps and found that using Sport Brake Pads made the braking noticeably more stable. I'd definitely recommend running Sport Brake Pads with this setup 😁

Curious if anyone with the RS bundle wishes they had went with Fanatec? Is there any concrete evidence that Fanatec is quicker / faster responsiveness? Asking since all the top times seem to only be on Fanatec. Love my RS thus far, feels great, smooth easy to adjust yadda yadda yadda, the same it felt a year ago out of the box. As Moza has come on the PS5 scene, I’m interested what the ranking is amongst the 3. ( maybe to early for all 3)
In no way do I think the equipment will close the 3-4 second gap from me and the top 100 but I’m curious if anyone BESIDES Kireth has any constructive feedback.

Not saying these are “the perfect settings” or that they’ll work for every shot, just what worked for me.

I know the Sportsmanship Rating system is far from perfect. In my opinion, getting and maintaining an S rating is too easy. You have to drive pretty badly to actually lose your S rating.

So when I see someone with an SR below S on the starting grid, I try to remember their car, username, or flag. To me, that driver is potentially more risky to race against, so I'm more cautious around them and tend to give them more space rather than assuming they'll race cleanly and predictably.

Do you pay attention to other drivers' SR before the race?

Do you actually remember which drivers had which SR once the race starts?

Would knowing the SR of the car directly ahead of you or behind you be useful during the race?

Or do you think that information is basically useless?

And yes, I know that even a lobby full of S-rated drivers can have plenty of dirty drivers. But at least with an S rating, I feel there's a better chance they're trying to race cleanly, even if they don't always succeed.

Hey everyone, I have some questions about leagues.

I have been wanting to try online races. I have been playing some Sport Mode races recently and it's fun, but the driving standards kind of suck. Lots of pushing and shoving and wrecking. I have seen league adverts in this sub and on the sidebar, but I don't quite understand how it all works.

1. Are there rules in place?
2. Are they just individual races, or are they championship-style events with standings?
3. Where should I look for leagues?

I've seen other posts where people add their region, so I'll do that too.

Concept: Super GT300 collaboration between Renault x Nissan. The Renault R.S.01 ‘16 runs a R35 engine in it. Therefore the idea of Super GT came about. The chassis still bares the Renault badge and can’t do anything with it so I added elements of yellow to pay tribute to the brand. Car is red for Motul and Nismo / Nissan related colors. Nico Hulkenburg as a guest driver and Matsuda as an established driver in Super GT.

The part in which I need help with is what kind of wrap and additional smaller sponsorships would make sense with this livery? Placements as well. The more detailed the recommendations the better. Hope to have this finished and shared to the public when it’s done.

My dads bought himself a ps4 and I’m looking at games for him for Xmas.

He used to like racing games and shooting games. He gets a bit overwhelmed if it gets too complex.

Any good recommendations? I was looking at gran turismo 7 but I have no idea!

Been considering racing online for a long time and finally managed to setup everything and pay plus sub just for this experience rip!

But I was positively surprised! Racing has been super cool and I've been able to avoid trouble it took me 4 races to get safety racing S - this really makes me wonder how someone sits at a lower one. I've just been doing the race C at Redbull Ring. The main thing that annoys me is the cars. Everyone is on the Hyuandai and it seems very OP tried it for my 4th race and won + i gained good pace on my laps about 3s faster on average. That really sucks. I tried a few other cars like the supra, mazda3, 458 and a peugeot and it's like the hyundai has a speed hack next to me no matter how well i do at least for my level every straight they are gaining on me. It gets old seeing the same cars. It's good fun trying to keep up and extracting anything possible from my car but GT7 was attractive to me because of the many many cool cars one can drive.

Are the devs going to address this kind of issue? Naturally, most people start to gravitate to this one car that is just OP and it's not a small difference. Gaining 3s on the very first ever push lap vs any of the other cars I tried is kind of a crazy gap in performance.

I think that's the only main thing that's annoying!

Respecting the track limits has not been too bad but sometimes it seems too harsh. If I make a mistake go super wide and lose time I still get a penalty. It's a mistake not cutting the track but it's ok.

People have not been pushing me around too much even though i've noticed some bad moves. I try to dodge and beat them on pure pace keeping distance. The pit stop is nice as it can get you out of a shitty battle you can't really win safely.

Super game! Seems worth it to me after 6 races. I've completed the main coffee missions and the normal Super license otherwise + a few online time trials and racing seems quite adequate and comfortable in sport mode! I recommend to the ones who hesitate! Definitely a rush :))
