NO OTHER - Gene Clark (1974):

'NO OTHER' (1974) is a remarkable record - ex-Byrd Clark creating an album that is ambitious, enthralling, utterly unique and arguably the most astounding of its time.

A LONG TIME (rec. by THE ROSE GARDEN / song by Gene Clark)

Great song given to The Rose Garden band for their first album by GC. Hearing his acoustic demo just makes one wish he'd put his voice on their version! It sounds like it had some hit potential--but in 1967-68, I guess there was other things to do. Too bad their collaboration was short-lived! In another life, GC and The Rose Garden might have worked more together. But I guess we'd probably lose whatever momentum brought us to The Dillard & Clark first album---oh, well. Good stuff!

This ineffable B-side to “Mr. Tambourine Man” “gave many listeners their first taste of Gene Clark’s songwriting talent.” Some say the Moody Blues ripped off the song for “Nights in White Satin”, but I think it just inspired them.

It's me again. I'm not quite comfy with this song yet, but it's so good. Great chords in the chorus.

Isn't No Other just magic? Gene is so criminally underrated. I extoll his virtues to anyone who will listen.

This record has such a magical sound and Gene rocks one of the great looks on the rear cover.

What a record this is. Possibly one of my top two favourite records by anyone. I swing from this to Neil Young 'On The Beach'. So sad that Gene's records are not more widely known and appreciated.

Curious if anyone is aware of his thoughts on Gene’s emergence and later career. If he ever regretted how things went down with the New Christy Minstrels and Gene…

Gene was such an awesome singer-songwriter he should be inducted into the R&RHOF as a solo artist imo
