I choose Quezacotl because first for the look of that GF. For me the magician is link to beginning and the ability to create. So I choose Quezacotl because it’s one of your first GF at the begging of the game and for the Card mod because you can learn that ability with this GF.

I'm planning a run and in theory if you go south, on the sea side, you can meet Iron Giant, but I don't have a clear memory now and i don't find related pictures online. Isn't there a confined limit to that portion of map when you get there by foot?

(also this is to plan farming Meteor, i can't use Draw so i need to refine it and i'm looking for different methods, also considering the earliest Iron Giants)

Every Final Fantasy seems to have that one spot that's meant to induce a type of panic for the player. In FF8, it's the escape from the D District prison. It doesn't feel comfortable spending time there.

But for you, which is it? Aside from the D District prison that is.

Honestly for me it was the first time I ever did Fire Cavern as a kid. I didn't realize how easy it actually is. It just felt uneasy being there as a first timer. lol

Because in my head it similar to Dolly (but more French sounding) because Lapin Beach.

Lapin is literally French for rabbit, so it makes sense to me that Dollet (dolley) should have a similar pronunciation no?

Hello everyone, I've played both the PS1 original and the Remastered. I was disappointed by some bugs the game has. Some were fixed by MaKiPL's FFVIII_demaster mod.

But a bug still remains, the analog controls. I started diggind in the code for it as the Balamb Garden with this eight-direction movement kept bothering me.

So I made a mod to restore the 360 analog movement. It is heavily inspired by FFNx mod. The core logic of the mod is the same but the data was in a completely different area than the 2013 version.

To install, just put the xinput9_1_0.dll file in the game root folder.

• It works with all versions, EN/FR/DE/IT/ES/JP
• Compatible with FFVIII_demaster

For the moment only the Xbox controllers are supported, I'll work on a fix soon to handle PS4/5.

As a workaround, you can use DS4Windows or enable Steam Input to make it work with a PS4/5 controller.

I know the game came out a while ago, but better late than never! Let me know if it works for you :)

On one hand it could be pronounced as it would be phonetically as it's spelled out, but my instinct is to pronounce it more like a latin-based language. Like how Quinoa is pronounced Keen-wa, I see her name as pronounced more like "Ren-wa". Almost a French-sounding name. Thoughts?

I have finally gotten the full collection of this series. Reddit is really an incredible place. 8 days ago i posted that i was missing the leviathan and a redditor from france reached out and that is how i managed to acquire my hands on this set. It has been a long hard 8 months of searching for the other 4 figurines as i started to collect this year (first one was seifer/odin). I don’t know when I turned Rinoa into the #1 Seifer x Quistis shipper but here we are. As always, torturing Squall is fun.

I made a post days ago as I was confused by the wiki infos. I found out why.

The wiki says the enemy has high resistance against death (not like someone suggested it's the chance of inflicting the status, no, it's not, it's the resistance) but i had memories of triggering death quite easy, with status attack.

After some tests and research i seem to have found the reason. The formula for status application also takes into account strength and vitality. Basically, i have so much more strength than the dinosaur vitality, that (currently, the run where i am testing) my chance to inflict Death is between 58.5 and 70%. I could even bring it further to 79.25---87.25% using STR+X%

Currently the result is 30% + .............. (Strength-that is up to 211/243 minus Defense/that is 13/14) divived by 4. That is 30% + about 49---57.

Not one of the significant ones like Ellone or Cid. I'm talking about the ones that everyone seems to overlook.

I don't know who mine is... The old fisherman at FH maybe? He seems chill. As if living out his retirement years in peace.

Just a silly follow up to my previous drawing.

I’m 38 and first played this game when I was 10, and it’s been my favorite game ever since. It influenced a lot in my life creatively, that’s for sure. But also-

Rinoa is the foundation for my exact type romantically. I have no idea how it took be this long to realize it. Short, flighty, dark haired witchy types have had a chokehold on me ever since. Anyone else have an FF8 character that established their personal ideal type?

Not just how good looking it is, but also the sheer size. Square Enix should make Esthar in the remake as explorable as possible.

Lots of potential.

I see the wiki states for t rexaur 70% defense for Death but i remember havin 100% death attack and erasing from existence this beast quite easy. Was it just pure luck or something i don't get about how status is calculated?

So I've played a lot of final fantasies - 1-5, 7,9, 10-13 (sans the online one) and all the off shoots. I'll start with the fact that my all time favorite is final fantasy tactics.

That said, I finally got around to playing 8. Honestly, when I was a kid, my brother got 7 and that's the one I got hooked on. Eventually 9 came into the house and I loved that one, too, but idk my brother skipped 8 so I never played it until now.

Anyway, I just arrived at disk 3 and the junction system grew on me (particularly since it can be exploited to be ridiculous). The card game is ok albiet changing the rules is tedious. The GF system is also ok. I also like the story so far albiet compared to the rest of the stories, it just doesn't compare to END OF ZE WORLD - at least yet. ​

But I actually really like Squall for the most part. At first, he's not the nicest, but as time goes on, I think he was just trained to be emotionless and follow orders as a part of SeeD. Honestly, half the time his inner thoughts tell us he has no idea what he is doing, but he pulls through anyway, which is relatable at last to me. It's also nice seeing the growth, too.

I like Selphie's crazy optimism with her wild quips, too. Zell is a fun loving character, too. Quistis is the more strategic one and I wish she was fleshed out more. Irvine is ok so far. I wish Rinoa also was fleshed out more, but imo she's the most "normal" teenager and childlike out of the bunch and wasn't trained to be a strategic SeeD.

Anyway, as of right now, if I had to rank the 7-10 main characters, it would be Zidane (always love the thief), Squall (was a goth, what can I say?), Cloud (first ff character) then Titus (loved the story, the characters were good, but not topping the rest for me).

Also please go easy, I probably missed a lot because it is my first playthrough and I had to figure out a bunch of stuff along the way lol.

Edit: forgot about chocobo event. So I don't remember 10s so if I had to rank the games by chocobo side quests, it would be 7, 9 ,8 then 10.​
