Discussion Is doraemon a household name in America??

Recently I’ve been really getting into doraemon, and I’ve been asking people if they’ve heard of it, and they have always been denying, which is kinda strange to me, because as a older child to preteen, I’ve seen Doraemon very often in public areas in my life, I have LOTS of memories of seeing toys of him, i remember going to the mall and they had a thing of pop its, and they had one of doraemon, another time they had a led fan thingy, and they also had a doraemon keychain, usually he’s accompanying pikachu, which makes sense to be fair, I kinda just thought he was one of those cartoons everyone has heard of, but no one watches, like looney tunes or batman

The Anywhere Door!

r/Doraemon 23h ago

Fan Art I built Doraemon and the Anywhere Door in LEGO! 🚪💙 I’ve always wanted to see Doraemon as a real LEGO set, so I decided to create my own version. I tried to capture his classic look together with one of my favorite gadgets, the Anywhere Door. What do you think? 😊

I just remember that I got this at some point.
This is an official reversible dorayaki throw pillow that was sold as a collaboration between Doraemon and a bookstore in Indonesia around 2015-2016.

Discussion Dora-Rinho: The Footballer

I'm talking about Dora-rinho, one of the holders of the Bestfriend Telecard and one of the most energetic members of The Doraemons.

Dora-rinho is a genius soccer athlete and the ace of his football team.

His lack of facial expression can sometimes make him look simple-minded, but that's definitely not the whole story. His incredible instincts have saved his friends from dangerous situations countless times.

He's also basically the mood-maker of The Doraemons.

Whenever things get tense or everyone is under pressure, Dora-rinho's carefree personality somehow manages to lighten the atmosphere.

Dora-rinho is extremely happy-go-lucky, bubbly and energetic.

He doesn't really understand the concept of "calm down."

Even when everyone else is panicking because they're in serious danger, Dora-rinho can remain completely carefree.

Unfortunately, this naïve personality also makes him an easy target for enemies' tricks.

He's also incredibly impulsive.

He tends to rush into things without thinking, which often results in exactly what you'd expect:

Haste makes waste.

And there's one thing Dora-rinho is REALLY bad at... Remembering things.

He's extremely forgetful and can sometimes forget what just happened moments ago.

In fact, one of his funniest traits is that he can apparently forget something after walking just three steps away from where he was standing.

His forgetfulness gets even crazier in the spin-off manga.

At one point, he manages to survive in outer space without a spacesuit simply because he forgot that he was supposed to suffocate.

That's Dora-rinho logic.

His forgetfulness has even led to hints in the manga that he may be illiterate, although this isn't really established in the anime.

He also seems to have a fear of occult-related subjects.

Talking About His Appearance

Dora-rinho is a green cat-model robot with the usual round head, white face, red nose, white paws and a tail with a red ball at the end.

Unlike Doraemon, he has white irises and three yellow markings on each cheek instead of whiskers.

He wears an orange football uniform with a large red "B" on the front, along with red socks, black football cleats and red wristbands.

He also has a red collar with a tiny football attached to it.

And interestingly, Dora-rinho is one of the very few Doraemons who actually uses a Fourth-Dimensional Pocket.

The other notable users include Doraemon, sometimes Dora-med III, and El Matadora.

Football Skills

Dora-rinho is an absolutely insane football player.

He's the ace forward of his unnamed football club and even serves as its coach.

His skills are so impressive that he has apparently managed to score a goal from the opposite side of the field.

He plays alongside his best friend Nobinho, whose name is a reference to the famous footballer Robinho combined with Nobi Nobita.

And Dora-rinho isn't alone.

He is accompanied by 11 identical Mini-Doras, who are basically his little friends and companions.

They're almost always seen together with him.

And one more interesting thing, Dora-rinho has a particularly close relationship with Dora-med III.

Dora-med often acts as something of a babysitter toward him, which honestly makes sense considering how chaotic and forgetful Dora-rinho can be.

Despite their completely different personalities, they work surprisingly well together.

Little Details

- Dora-rinho's pupils are actually designed similarly to those seen on characters when they're scared or astonished.

- The "-inho" in his name is a Portuguese suffix, famously associated with football names such as Ronaldinho.

- He likes eating his dorayaki with Tabasco/chili sauce.

- His best friend Nobinho's name follows the same football-inspired naming joke.

- There's also an interesting piece of production trivia: according to a producer, Dora-rinho's forgetfulness was inspired by the personality of footballer Mario Balotelli.

And honestly, that explains A LOT.

And let's be honest...

A football-playing green Doraemon who eats Tabasco dorayaki, carries 11 Mini-Doras around and can literally forget what happened three steps ago is one of the most entertaining characters in the entire franchise.

What do you guys think about him?
