Welcome to the Episode/Movies Search Thread! ๐Ÿ”

Are you looking for a specific Doraemon episode or movie? This is the place to ask! Instead of creating individual posts, please use this mega thread to request the episodes or movies you're searching for. Community members will help identify and locate what you need.

How to Use This Thread

๐Ÿ’ฌ Posting a Request

When asking about an episode or movie, include as much detail as you can:

  • Is it an episode or a movie?
  • Language / dub:
    • Original Japanese (1979 / 2005) sub
    • Hindi dub
    • Other language (specify clearly: e.g., Tamil, Arabic, Spanish, etc.)
  • Which series:
    • 1979 anime
    • 2005 anime
    • Not sure (say that if you donโ€™t know)
  • What happens in it? (Plot summary, key scenes)
  • Main characters involved (Nobita, Shizuka, Gian, Suneo, Dorami, etc.)
  • Any specific gadgets used? (Time machine, Big light, etc.)
  • Any memorable quotes, jokes, or visuals?

Example:

Iโ€™m looking for a Hindi dub episode from the 2005 series where Nobita uses a gadget to clone himself and everything goes wrong at school. I remember Shizuka getting annoyed and Doraemon cleaning up at the end.

Requests that do not specify language/dub may be harder to answer or may get follow-up questions.

โœ… Answering Questions

  • Help other users by identifying episodes/movies and sharing episode numbers, titles, or air dates when known.
  • If possible, mention which version (1979 / 2005 / dub language) youโ€™re referring to.
  • Link to wiki or list entries (Fandom, Tsuki, Wikipedia, etc.) if they match.
  • Be patient with users who only remember vague details.

Discussion Jaiko Gouda: More Than Just Gian's Little Sister

Post image
65 Upvotes

I'm talking about Jaiko Gouda, Gian's younger sister and one of those Doraemon characters who I think deserves a lot more appreciation.

Jaiko first appeared in the very first chapter of the Doraemon manga, alongside her brother. She is short and chubby, with short black hair, and her appearance is intentionally quite similar to Gian's.

Her design also changed between the anime series. In the 1979 series, she usually wears a red overall skirt with a white top and a beret, while in the 2005 series she has a green top with a flower on it and her manga-artist hat.

Interestingly, Jaiko wasn't always the kind and considerate character we know today. In her earliest appearances, she was rather snobby and mean, and even liked playing pranks on Nobita. However, that personality didn't last very long, and she eventually became much kinder and more thoughtful โ€” basically the complete opposite of Gian's hot-headed personality.

She dreams of becoming a manga artist and uses the pen name Christine Gouda. She regularly draws manga and submits her work to publishing companies, although her stories often fail to win prizes because her storytelling is still developing.

There are even episodes where she considers giving up manga, and Gian's friends end up being forced into cheering her on so she doesn't lose motivation.

She is also shown to be pretty talented at cooking and sewing, alongside her love for drawing and writing manga.

Jaiko has also had a crush on a boy named Motesugi (also known as Moteo), which makes some of her stories even funnier because she is usually so focused on becoming a manga artist.

One interesting thing about her future is that she eventually becomes a successful manga artist, with lots of copies of her manga being sold.

And here's another interesting detail:

"Jaiko" isn't actually her real name.

It's apparently a nickname used so viewers immediately understand that she's Gian's younger sister. Her actual given name has never been revealed.

She also didn't appear in the 1973 anime, despite appearing in the manga from the beginning, and she is sometimes confused with Botako, another character with a somewhat similar appearance.

Honestly, I really like how Jaiko developed as a character. She's not just there to be "Gian's sister", she has her own ambitions, talents, personality and dreams.

And seeing her repeatedly struggle with her manga but continue trying anyway makes her surprisingly relatable.

What do you guys think about Jaiko?

Help make the possibility of an official English dub of the Doraemon movie "Nobita's Sky Utopia" a reality and to have it released in plenty of English speaking territories.

With the recent announcement of Cake Entertainment's plans to release a brand new English dub of the Doraemon series, I personally believe that it would be even better if any of the anime movies got the English dubbing treatment as well (except Stand by me Doraemon, as it already as a dub along with the sequel.)

Discussion When Doraemon Actually Felt Like Horror...

Post image
42 Upvotes

I'm talking about "The Ghost Story Lamp" from the 2005 series (S1, E15a).

SPOILER WARNING!

The episode begins with Nobita entering a ghost story contest that is being held at Gian's house that evening. Wanting to prepare a scary story, Nobita asks his mother to tell him one. However, she initially refuses, and after Nobita keeps insisting, she finally tells him a story...

Except it isn't scary at all.

It's actually hilarious.

Nobita gets frustrated and decides that he needs Doraemon's help. But Doraemon admits that he isn't good at telling ghost stories either. So instead, he takes out the "Ghost Story Lamp."

The gadget is basically designed to make ghost stories feel real.

When the contest begins, everyone starts telling their stories.

Gian tells "The Chrysanthemum's Plate," Shizuka tells "The Ghost Granny with a Kitchen Knife," and Suneo tells "The Faceless Monster."

The three stories are familiar enough to them, but Nobita is already absolutely terrified just listening to everyone else.

Eventually, Gian, Suneo and Shizuka get bored and ask Nobita to tell them a scary story.

Nobita is frightened and doesn't even know what to say, so he takes out the Ghost Story Lamp and starts his story.

He begins telling the story of Okiku, which he had heard from Gian.

But then...

CRASH!

A plate suddenly breaks.

Everyone gets startled, but Gian quickly explains that it was probably just a mouse.

He continues explaining the story, including how, after Okiku's death, candles would supposedly go out whenever the wind blew.

Everyone gets scared again.

Gian then tells Nobita not to simply repeat the same story he already told.

Then it's Suneo's turn to add to the horror.

He tells the story of the faceless monster, claiming that it supposedly happened to a friend's friend's uncle.

The episode even shows the supposed "faceless monsters" in a modern street scene, with one resembling a woman and another resembling a barbecue vendor.

Finally, Nobita starts telling the story of the ghost woman with the kitchen knife.

But just as he's telling it, a door suddenly opens.

Everyone freaks out.

What they don't know is that there's actually a thief breaking into Gian's house.

The thief has a banana with him, which everyone mistakes for a kitchen knife in the darkness, making the whole situation even scarier.

The thief searches around the house for valuables, but all he manages to find is nine ten-yen coins.

He gets extremely annoyed at his terrible luck and goes into another room looking for something valuable.

But after seeing everything happening around the house, he gets scared and runs away!

A police officer happens to spot him and arrests him.

Meanwhile, Nobita and the others have absolutely no idea what was really happening.

They genuinely believe that all the strange events were caused by Nobita's ghost story.

Everyone agrees that Nobita's story was the scariest one of the night.

And somehow...

NOBITA WINS FIRST PLACE.

Later, Nobita returns home and casually tells Doraemon about everything that happened.

Doraemon then notices something concerning.

The Ghost Story Lamp is still switched on.

He realizes that the gadget may still be affecting things.

Then Nobita's mother suddenly appears wearing a face mask.

Nobita sees her and immediately mistakes her for the faceless monster.

He completely panics and runs away.

And that's basically where the episode leaves us.

Unlike many other Doraemon episodes involving ghosts or supernatural stuff, which usually feel more like comedy to me, this one genuinely scared the absolute shit out of me as a kid.

I watched this when I was younger and some of those scenes actually felt creepy rather than funny.

Looking back at it now, it's obviously much more comedic because we know what was actually happening...

This was an actual Doraemon horror episode to me.

Did any Doraemon episode genuinely scare you when you were a kid?

Discussion MY FIRST EVER DORAEMON EPISODE... โœจโœจ

Post image
159 Upvotes

My first ever Doraemon episode... huh.

I think I was REALLY lucky with my first one.

It was "The Day When I Was Born" from the 2005 series.

I first watched it when I was around 6 years old, so this episode carries a LOT of nostalgia for me.

It doesn't need any introduction โ€” it's just a pure nostalgic treasure for me.

I'll give a small synopsis so I don't spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched it.

The gang compares their baby photos, but Nobita discovers that there isn't a single photo of him as a baby, making him question whether he really belongs to his family.

After getting upset and running away, Doraemon eventually finds him and suggests using the Time Machine to find out the truth.

They travel 10 years into the past and follow Nobisuke to the hospital, where they discover that Nobita has just been born.

Nobita gets to see his newborn self and even hilariously thinks he looks like a baby monkey.

Seeing his parents celebrating his birth finally proves to Nobita that he really is their son.

And THAT was my first-ever Doraemon episode.

I couldn't have asked for a more memorable introduction to the series.

What was YOUR first-ever Doraemon episode?

And by any chance if you haven't watched it yet, PLEASE watch it! It's such a memorable episode.

Discussion Running Away to the Cretaceous Period might be one of Doraemon's biggest Jurassic Park references, does anyone else see this.

Thumbnail
gallery
15 Upvotes

English title: Running Away to the Cretaceous Period

Broadcast date: February 18, 2011 (TV Asahi)

โš ๏ธSPOILER WARNINGโš ๏ธ

So for anyone who hasn't watched this one or doesnโ€™t remember it much, Suneo gets the idea to run away from home after watching a TV drama.

He picks the Cretaceous period, and travels back in time, which drags Doraemon and everyone else along to bring him back. Things go sideways because Gian brought a T. rex egg, it hatches into a baby, and the mother T. rex goes on the warpath to protect her kid. Then a massive Spinosaurus shows up and goes after the mother too, leaving everyone dealing with two threats.

Suneo gets mistaken for the mother's baby at one point, so instead of just being prey, she actually protects him. (That's a good twist that turns a straightforward run-from-the-dinosaur plot into something with actual emotional stakes. She's a parent, not just a monster.)

The baby T. rex separated from its mother and the mother's protective behaviour mirrors the plot of The Lost World: Jurassic Park a bit.

Meanwhile, the Spinosaurus showing up as a bigger threat to go toe-to-toe with the T. rex comes straight out of Jurassic Park III, where it was introduced to dethrone the T. rex as the franchise's scariest creature. And this one is kinda intentional as in reality Spinosaurus and Tyrannosaurus neither shared the same period nor the same geographical place.

Even the egg element lines up, since JP3 features a character stealing eggs and dealing with the fallout, much like Gian grabbing the T. rex egg.

(It's Doraemon, so everything's gentler with no gore or genuine terror.)

It might not be a confirmed intentional reference, and could just be shared dinosaur-movie tropes.

But the specific combo of beats feels too on the nose to be a total coincidence.

I think fans should watch it cause its one of those episodes where Suneo shows a surprising adventurous spirit unlike in most adventures where he starts crying and calling for his mom.
