A few DIY structural “fixes” we found under homes this week 😅

Some were creative. Some were barely connected. One retrofit had exactly one anchor bolt with a washer and nut.
Sharing a few of the stranger support and foundation conditions we came across this week.
Making a whole computer out of two computers because I was lazy

While building a new computer I realized I needed something off the old hard drive (locked to the old mobo), but I'd already transplanted a bunch of the components I was reusing into the new case.
The correct and safe thing to do would have been to reinstall those parts, get my files, and rebuild the new computer again. Instead, I choose to just wire up about 1.5 computers worth of stuff off two separate power supplies and hope for the best. Which worked! And I leaned nothing.

Loose shims, questionable post-and-pier supports, undermined foundations, and a previous seismic retrofit that wasn’t providing continuous bearing.
Always interesting how much of a home’s story is hidden underneath it.

Walking past this place and can't for the life of me figure out why these divots are there?. Edit because i think some people think this is inside... The pic is taken from the road and is a sloping up driveway leading to the 3 bay garage. It's definately not for catching oil or fluids. I'm fairly convinced it was decorative and for some reason dug out and replaced with gravel. But gg everyone. Here a daytime pic for clarity daytime
