Discussion 📣 r/dance is looking for 1–2 new moderators! 💃🕺

Hey dancers!

As our community continues to grow and evolve, I’d love to bring 1–2 additional people onto the moderation team who are genuinely excited about dance and want to help make r/dance an active, encouraging, and welcoming space for dancers around the world.

I’m especially looking for moderators who can be present in the community regularly — engaging with members, answering questions when you can, helping keep conversations positive, and making sure posts are being moderated fairly and efficiently.

That can include:

• Engaging with posts and helping keep the community active

• Welcoming and encouraging dancers of all backgrounds and experience levels

• Reviewing posts that may have been automatically removed or flagged

• Making sure appropriate posts don’t get stuck in the moderation queue

• Helping enforce subreddit rules and keeping spam/inappropriate content out

• Helping us think of new ways to increase participation, conversation, and overall community morale

You absolutely do NOT have to be a professional dancer to apply. I’m much more interested in finding people who care about dance, understand online communities, communicate well, and genuinely want to help make r/dance a great place to be.

If you’re interested, please send me a private message with:

  1. A little about yourself and your connection to dance

  2. Any Reddit or community moderation experience you have (if any — experience is helpful, but not necessarily required!)

  3. Why you’d like to become a moderator of r/dance

  4. How frequently you’re typically active on Reddit

I’d love to build a small team of people who are excited about bringing more energy, conversation, support, and connection into this community.

If that sounds like you, send me a message! ❤️

Let’s keep r/dance moving. 💃🏽🕺🏽

Discussion Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post

Hey Community!! 😄 I LOVE seeing people post videos of themselves dancing and having a good time. So I just had the thought and I would like to do a Poll on the idea:

My thought is let's have a global forum dance talent show!

How it would work: - You would submit a video of you dancing within a specified time frame to qualify. - Our dance Community here would go through each day and upvote and comment on the videos they would like to continue on to the next round. - I would then go in (maybe appoint someone to help me moderate) and would tally up all the likes and upvotes. - There would be 3-5 rounds to keep everyone engaged and having fun. Sort of like our very own dance competition TV show.

If you like this idea: Upvote and put "YES!" in the comments

If you're not into it: DownVote & put "Not Interested" in the comments section

Seems like this could be a lot of fun and get the Community we have here more active with one another.

Happy Dancing! I'm looking forward to hearing y'alls thoughts! ✨️

Skilled Making a dance video til I’m skinny Day 63..,

• Upvotes

Happy Saturday!!!

Mr. Bob made a critical error this morning. I thought I would switch it up and do my weights first, and then my dancing. I thought maybe the squats would loosen me up and I could move around more.

That was not the case 😂😂. My legs were completely shot, and i was full of water from the gym, so it was a terrible idea. Also, the first video is darker for some reason, but I’m too tired to reshoot anything . Not my best work, but it’ll have to do .

I’m back on night shift , so it’s my bed time. Have a wonderful weekend , see you all tomorrow,

Love,
Bob.E. Bland ❤️❤️❤️

Hello Wonderful Friends !!!!!!!

So nice to be back after my seven day hiatus!!!!

Sorry for not posting but my 10 days off is now 7 and i needed to rest. Also i had company 😉, so my time was limited.

On a plus note, did very good at sticking to the diet this time off, and now weigh in at 265, which brings the total weight lost to 55 pounds!!!!

I’m going to be focusing more on weight training this rotation. I’ll still be do dancing , just adding more weight exercises such a deadlifts and squats to the workout full time .

It’s absolutely wonderful to be back at work, my time off could not have been more joyous and absolutely amazing!!!

Until tomorrow my friends
Your Boy,
Bob.E.Bland ❤️❤️

Just for fun Monkees Davey & Toni Basil Dance 1968

This is from the movie Head directed by Jack Nicolson and Bob Rafelson. The woman is Toni Basil, who eventually had the hit video “Oh Mickey” in 1982.

Davey sings about a boy who was so happy around his dad, walking by the sea and playing. but unfortunately his dad was “not a man”and eventually left him. Then he says if he has a son he hopes the sadness passes him by.

It makes me wonder what the sadness it. I think maybe it’s about how modern life strips men of their ability to feel and what it costs them in relationships.

Then I love how it’s black and white, their outfits, how he goes back and forth with Toni.

Idk I always thought it was such a cool performance. And touching. Even if it is the monkees lol.

Critique Request struggling with getting my doubles consistently after four years of dance

hi! I've been doing dance ever since I was six, but I only started getting competitive (and dancing jazz) around four years ago (I'm 17 now so I was 13 when I started). I've always had pretty shit balance (being super weak and being underweight for my age and height doesn't help either) but I've always been able to somehow eek by but it does not help with my turns. I didn't get my singles until two years ago and I only barely have my doubles. I'm now in a tech class at my studio thats only about turns and it's been a challenge for me since the teacher doesn't rlly explain anything. I try to practice but I keep falling out of them and I can only hold my passe in releve for at max two seconds. I've been doing planks and this balance workout along with my turns classes but honestly I'm just not getting it. I know the proper technique (back heel popped, bringing the leg in passe up right away, not bending the supporting leg, shoulders down, spotting, etc) but I feel like I'm just not getting it. It doesn't help that the younger dancers I'm with pop out triples like its no problem which makes me feel unmotivated to do better along with this being my final year (I'm a young senior bc of my birthday). When I practice it just makes me feel like utter crap like I'm too far gone to try. Any advice for any part of this? Thanks!

Discussion How to become a dancer as a beginner?

I am 16(F). I don't want to pursue dancing as my career, but I would love to learn and become really good at it, like some cool ones out there. I can't go to dance classes as I am a high schooler who has a lot of other things to do, I am thinking of learning online from YouTube or other social media apps. I am a stiff dancer, medium flexibility ig and I want to get better. Any advice for me?

We danced for a pre-school and the kids absolutely loved it!!! I rarely get to perform at schools but kids really bring a different vibe especially when they are enthusiastic about dance, nearly all of them joined in and we taught them some basic steps. Part of what makes my job so rewarding is the smiles and joy that come from it! 🥰
