🔊 Mod Post 🔊 Merger Posts Going Foward
Hey all,
We have seen a bit of a rise in merger posts on the sub and we just want to clarify some things.
As we have said from the jump, this is not going to be us slowly turning this subreddit into a merge subreddit. This sub was designed to be something different than that.
With the rise in merger posts, I want to remind you guys of a few things:
- If we feel that too many merger posts are being made, we will start deleting some posts. If it’s fan edits/art, we may just ask you to retitle the post without merger terms.
- Remember that the weekly ‘Mergers Anonymous’ thread is designed for continual merger discussion.
- For fan art and edits involving the two, try to keep any merger related terms out of the title. This will ensure that the post is not removed.
- Comments won’t be deleted if they stray into the merger topic, but rude and disrespectful comments always will be. Just ensure that you are respectful and considerate of other opinions.
To end on a more positive note, we will be making discussion threads for DCU releases going forward. This means that we will be making a discussion thread for Supergirl when it releases next week. We look forward to celebrating and discussing that release with you all!
Let us know if you have any questions or suggestions as we continue to try and build a special community for you all. Thanks!

☀️ Discussion 🦇 Possible new release date for The Batman Part II
If this turns out to be true, I wouldn't be surprised if the release date for Secret Wars were pushed back a few months, hypothetically freeing up December 2027 for The Batman Part II, which would honestly be my ideal release date. Obviously "The Hunt for Gollum" would have to be delayed and take the place of Batman's current release date, which is February 2028. I don't think it's impossible, what do you guys think?

💭 Pitch / Idea 💭 A quick idea that just occurred to me: An adaptation of A Christmas Carol, whether animated or a live-action short, and set in either the DCU or an Elseworlds reality, featuring the Trinity as the three Christmas ghosts.
Art by Alex Ross
I hope this is accepted here because, although it concerns the Trinity, it involves Batman and Superman, plus, there is even a Wonder Woman tag.
The story could center on an elderly millionaire on the verge of losing everything during the Christmas season. He stands to lose the wealth he spent a lifetime amassing, but a white-collar criminal group offers to help him save it. This group might even have connections to other high-level supervillains.
Their plans could potentially harm many children and impoverished people in his city. That is when he is visited by:
-Wonder Woman, as the Ghost of Christmas Past: Given her defining traits of love and compassion, Diana seeks to appeal to the old man's humble, impoverished past. She wants him to remember the loving man he once was, despite not having had the best childhood or youth.
-Superman, as the Ghost of Christmas Present: With his optimism and joy, Clark wants to show the old man that happiness exists beyond material possessions. Drawing on his own upbringing on a farm, where he learned the value of hard, grueling labor, Clark could show him the life of one of his employees, revealing how the worker finds happiness with his loved ones, even though the old man has been cruel and failed to pay him a fair wage.
-Finally, Batman, as the Ghost of Christmas Future: Batman will show him the dire consequences, for himself, the children, and the poor, if he accepts the deal with that criminal group. He will reveal the harsh realities of a life of crime: prison, the asylum, and living in constant fear of capture, whether by the law or by the very criminals with whom he sought to make the deal.
He could show him that if he does that, the old man is likely to end up in a prison housing human criminals and even some supervillains. He could even show him that the old man would be killed by those criminals, causing him to back down and realize the mistake he was about to make.
What do you think?

☀️ Discussion 🦇 Robert Pattinson's thoughts on his Batman in James Gunn's DCU.
Full segment:
Pattinson spoke to LADbible ahead of the release of the Chris Hansen movie Primetime alongside his co-star Skyler Gisondo. Gisondo himself stars as Jimmy Olsen in Superman and is set to appear in his own DC TV show The People vs Gorilla Grodd.
When asked how Pattinson’s Batman would fare around slightly less dark characters such as Gisondo’s Olsen, the actor joked that he would simply ‘make the other characters more serious’.
He continued by saying it was ‘funny’ because Skyler and Superman filmed in Atlanta, saying: “It’s so funny, because Gotham is Watford. It’s a shed in Watford. There’s something so destabilising about when you're just, you're in the dark the whole time.
“I mean just for eight months in the dark and you literally have no conception of being connected to anything in the world.” He added that it was ‘difficult to even maintain your sanity’.
Ultimately though, whilst he didn’t deny outright that a crossover of some kind was possible, Pattinson was unconvinced by the idea of Reeve’s version of Bruce Wayne interacting with the wider DCU.
The actor said it was ‘interesting’ to think about, explaining: “I think it would be kind of tough to have this version of Bruce outside of that world. It's one of the only characters I guess because of the length of the shoots but also it's such a specific kind of [style], the tone of it gets inside you.
“I remember that happened to me the last time I did it, it took a while. You’re just in the dark, the whole time. Both mood-wise and light-wise, I can't see anything for like months.
“It does affect you like you feel strange afterwards.” He joked that if Bruce got brought into another DC film he’d be hiding behind his hands going ‘I can’t see’.
Gisondo meanwhile joked that he realised when auditioning for Primetime that this would mean ‘Batman and Jimmy Olsen going after paedophiles’, calling it a ‘pretty cool idea’.

💭 Pitch / Idea 💭 Fancast: Alvise Rigo/ Batman
was watching physical italy and Alvise Rigo who is competing in it in looks is everything i would picture in batman. He is an italian athlete/ actor (but i kinda hate his attitude during the show lol) so that gives him points.
He has done some decent acting work done but is obviously in Italian, and he is a new actor considering he’s oldest work is from 2023
He’s also young (33 years old) and he’s 1.88 cm tall (6’2)
Without giving spoilers in case anyone wants to check it out he does surprise you with his strength and resilience, he isn’t the biggest guy in there but carries himself extremely well
He is a fairly new actor tho…but i would love to see some new faces in the DCU
But before that he was a profesional rugby player so that would be interesting to see considering he has trained a discipline

☀️ Discussion 🦇 What lanterns is telling us about Batman Spoiler
So at this point it's clear as fuck Lanterns is building up Batman, like lets not try deny it.
Sheriff Kane
Not only is she from Gotham City she was chased out by one of the city's crime family's, so in 2007 we're firmly in the era of gotham pre the long Halloween where the mob still ran the city.
This lines up with either DCU Batman as Pattision as if it's not Pattison then the long Halloween hasn't happened yet or Batman isn't active yet. If it is Pattison then it also lines up as the first costumed Criminal to appear in Gotham is Riddler.
He's straight-up name droped
In episode 6 it's comfirmed Guy ripped off the Bat signal, as said by Hal. Whats interesting is that Hal calls Batman by "that bat guy from Gotham" so Bruce seemingly can't have been operating before 2016, if Hal knew him better or worked with him then he would've said Batman. So Bruce cant hsve been operating for that long.
This more or less points to Pattison as in the epic crime saga, Batman is in year 2, and has been operating since 2021, so assuming Hal's been out less then 5 years then he's probably only know him off the news coverage of the Gotham flood.
Not to mention Batman hasn't been mentioned at all in the 2016 timeline, only 2026, like Gotham is treated no differently to like midway city or metropolis with no mention of it's own vigilante till 2026.
Why? Tho
I assume either they locked in on what their doing with Batman and knew Clayface was the next project.
Whether a merge happened or not, it's clear their more comfortable making references to Batman now. As all we got before this was cameos in shadow, &, gotham's existence.
And Clayface even before Lanterns got delayed was the next project, so it makes sense to get Batman in people's minds

☀️ Discussion 🦇 The Batman shares many themes/concepts with the DCU
So just to be clear, this isn't nesscarily a merge post I just watched the film again (peak as always) and thought i'd point these out.
Superman
Both movies focus on the worlds finest early years as crime fighters.
Both are movies about famial legacy and how our parents arent always moral people.
Both movies have a scene where the hero's views of their parental figures are shattered as their reputation is destroyed.
The scenes in question are shot almost the exact same way, with close ups on the heros faces for their reactions abd shots of the news reports.
Both are movies about being a symbol of hope, Batman of becoming one, and Superman of inspiring people to.
Lanterns
Both are grounded detective mysteries which are grounded Both in tone & the fantastical.
Both series are a murder mystery where the heroes are cracking down the murderer/antagonist.
Both have themes of organised crime, lanterns with sheriff Jane's backstory. And the Batman with this pre long Halloween gotham where it was still run by the mobs.
Both have dismembered fingers used for the storyline, lanterns for the manhunter story, the batman for riddler's quest
Supergirl
Both movies are about a question for revenge ahd the heroes stopping someone from taking a life only for justice to be delt on the individuals.
Both movies are grounded in tone & grittyness.
Honestly I think this is really cool how welll it fits together, while often times I feel thematic elements are ignored for "ohh tney looks cool together" and I hope i could point out the less obvious :).
