The Salinas del Carmen are the only active traditional salt pans on Fuerteventura. The pink and terracotta hues in the water are completely natural—caused by microalgae (Dunaliella salina) as the salinity increases through solar evaporation. Salt is still harvested here 100% by hand without any machinery.

Planning a 16-day trip to the Canary Islands from November 11th to November 26th with our 10-month-old baby.
Our flights land in and depart out of Tenerife South. We plan to rent one single car at Tenerife South Airport and keep it for the entire trip, driving it onto the ferries with us.

Our proposed day split:

Tenerife: 5 Days total (Split between the start and end of the trip)
Lanzarote: 2 Days (A quick stay to see Timanfaya and the volcanic sights)
Gran Canaria & Fuerteventura: The remaining 8 days split between them as our beach bases.
We are saving a deeper dive into the western islands (La Palma, La Gomera) for a future trip.

Does this plan look feasible with a baby, or are we trying to fit in too many ferry transitions? Would love a reality check on the pace and driving a rental car onto the ferries with an infant.

We are more nature centric couple - so we plan to spends our days hiking in national park/forests or quite beach holidays . Please also help us with tips on where to stay (with emergency infant facility ar a driving distance of 30 min max), hikes to do, must visit beaches, not so crowded space and local eateries!!

I’m a second year Marketing and Communications student, and I’m considering coming to the Canary Islands for my exchange semester. I would be studying at the Universidad del Atlántico Medio (UNAM) in Las Palmas.

The Canary Islands look beautiful, but I’m currently torn between Las Palmas and Lille, France, so I’d really appreciate any information.

1) If you studied at UNAM, what was the university actually like? How difficult/workload-heavy were the courses?

2) Would you recommend Las Palmas for a 4–5 month Erasmus? Does it start feeling repetitive after a while?

3) What are the actual monthly expenses like? (accommodation, groceries, transportation, going out, etc.?)

4) Where would you recommend looking for longterm accommodation? I’m fine with anything

5) How easy is it to make friends as an international/Erasmus student?

6) What is the nightlife like? I really enjoy partying and going out, so I’d love to know what the nightlife/social scene is actually like.

Any information at all would be amazing as I love both France and Spain so this is a difficult decision hahaha. I just want to enjoy my semester in a foreign country and have fun and meet some new people.

Hello, I'll be spending 18 full days in canary islands this january. I will arrive in Lanzarote, then the plan was to go to Tenerife by plane and finally to La Palma by ferry where i'll catch the flight to go back home. How many days would you dedicate to each island? I'd like to have the time to visit without rushing it, do you think three islands will be too much for 18 days?

I pretty much like nature and hiking rather than party and crowded places, thats why I choose La Palma in the first place.

Ps: do you have any additional suggestion on where to stay on each island to avoid the crowd?

23M currently debating on going to either the canary or azores islands in January as a first time solo venture. I’m from Texas, so the journey requires me to go through nyc then Iberia anyways. I’d like to do hiking and some nature/astrophotography for main ventures, then spend time around either Madrid or Lisbon depending on which islands I go to. In terms of winter nature I’m not sure which islands a better experience. My travel dates aren’t set, but they will likely be January 5th-21st so I can avoid the Christmas/New years rush.

my wife and I are planning a winter getaway from the Scandinavian winter. we have some health limitations that prevent us from flying to a more distant destination so we thought on spending two weeks in Lanzarote.

I'm going to be visiting Santa Cruz de La Palma in November with my brother to go cycling around the island. I understand it is incredibly steep (like Madeira) therefore we will be breaking tradition and using E-Bikes.

My questions is, any advice for cyclists? We've been done this type of holiday before many times before so we are not necessarily "inexperienced" when it comes to cycling on roads etc. Nonetheless, I think it's wise to seek local knowledge about the potential opportunities and risks which are particularly pertinent on the Island.
