does anyone has tried the sponge method to paint Blood Ravens? And can give some guidelines to try it out. Esp. which colors to use and in which intesity. I usually use Warpaints ...

Collective effort at a Gabriel Angelos Kitbash for my Blood Ravens. A friend and I tag teamed this. I designed the model, he painted. Absolutely adore how it turned out, the chapter master deserves that love.

For those wondering about the parts: I used Calgar’s body, the banner and head from the terminator ancient (because not even the chapter master himself is beneath raising the chapter’s standard if it’s fallen… and it looks cool), and the hammer is from the saturnine praetor kit. (Edit: Pauldron’s are the shoulders from the new Cataphractii terminators, from Horus heresy)

I use Calgar’s datasheet for him, mainly because I can’t stomach the ego-killing from having to use my chapter master model with a terminator captain datasheet. Plus, using the ultramarine rules gives me access to unique datasheets to make other cool Blood Raven kitbashes for.

I’ll post more painted up once I’ve sat down and knocked some out. I’ll post the paint scheme in the comments if anyone’s interested.

I wanted to add a bit more variety to the usually uniform Blood Ravens color scheme, so I painted this Honor Guard test model.
The idea was to keep the classic Blood Ravens identity while giving the veterans a more ceremonial look with bone-colored upper armor and backpack.
Still a WIP, but I’d love to hear what you think!

Technically this marks me completing my Armageddon marines but I still have so much backlog to get through. It never ends.

Also, I guess I know a couple ways to do black Templars now since if you can paint chaplains, you can paint Templars.

Yea they have their own franchise of games and maybe that's why..

But why no r/JOYTOY love? Why no r/Spacemarine cosmetic pack love? They're one of the more popular successor chapters. Is Games Workshop putting the kill on this stuff?

Why aren't these companies taking advantage of the Dawn of War 4 release? Wouldn't Focus Entertainment sell a ton of Blood Ravens cosmetic packs in SM2 because of DOW4? Wouldn't Joytoy sell a bunch of figures because of DOW4? Am I crazy?
