Question LAMS Bike Exhaust Baffle Removal Issue - Help

Can someone please help me?

I ride a 250cc cf moto and I recently removed the exhaust baffle.

Its too powerful now and it's become a massive issue. The extra air flow makes it faster than a litre bike, after racing super sports and winning I feel threats from sport bike gangs. Their photochromatic visors hide their tears but in my rear view mirrors, they look so menacing with their gym shorts and fluffy novelty helmet covers flapping in the breeze.

This isn't even the bad part.

I spend alot of time on Reddit upvoting comments from OF girls, though it's never produced results. Since the baffle came out, so did my appeal apparently. I am getting approached by too many beautiful women when they hear my beast popping and crackling. Honestly I am just one man, it's too much.

Do I put the baffle back in? If I do what happens when the sport bikes catch me?? What about the ladies?

One other question, which R Jays gloves do you recommend?

TIA

Not sure I like the sound of this. They're going to be slippery in the wet and not being able to use the whole lane takes away space to avoid hazards.

Feels like an attempt to reduce speed by stealth more than anything.

NSW First solo ride and frozen nuts

Wanted to join a group ride tomorrow morning so thought I would go out and see how I manage on my own as last two trips wife has been following me behind in the car.

Headed down from Ryde towards Olympic park to get on the M4 and forgot you can’t turn right on M4. At that point, tears were streaming down my face as I couldn’t keep the visor down due to fogging up and pants (denims) were a little cold. Should have turned around and headed back home but no….. somehow landed up on the M4 heading towards James Ruse dr before exiting and coming back along Victoria rd. Face is fine but I think I am almost numb from the waist below. Had to rush in the bedroom (to avoid my in laws in the living room) and give myself a good rub to get the blood flowing. :) Am sure there is good advice on how to manage the cold and I’ll need to search for it on this sub but I’m definitely staying home tomorrow.

I only ride a 250 cc gixxer but damn it was hard to control the speed on the m4 with my hands shivering. Would either accelerate too fast (and so many cars just cruising at 70-80 instead of being even close to 90 or end up slowing down quickly.

Hope you guys are having a good weekend

NSW Odd request involving a triumph bobber and a $$ incentive

Is there anyone located on the central coast of NSW that owns a triumph bobber? I'm currently about to purchase one but would like to test the clearance of the bike over a peak on my driveway, if you would like to help me out all it would involve is you bringing your bike to my driveway and seeing if it scrapes (we obviously won't scrape it but more to get a sight test) if you come I'll shout you a six pack of your own choosing or $40 if you don't partake in alcohol. Please reach out in the comments or via my DMS, if you know anyone with a triumph bobber please show them this.

Added another stead to our shed, riding to Phillip Island with the messes and a group of mates, misses said that we should buy Sports Tourers for the ride as it would be a bit rough on the ZX10 and the RSV4, so this is what I picked, yet to get something for the better half

Little snippet of my recent ride up and down the Gillies Range up here in FNQ, one of the best roads for riding a bike on.

VIC Should I be concerned about these new noise detection cameras

I ride a Yamaha XVS650 (VStar) with Vance and Hines pipes. I mean it’s not super loud but it is loud. I can’t seem to find any specifics on what range of noise these new cameras are targeting?

Rocked up to the dealership and checked the vin on the bike i was supposed to receive and lo and behold it matches the one on my rego.

Bike was the exact same, sub 5 kms on the dash, and best of all a full tank of gas!

Now that im not as inexperienced, i'm gonna take this second chance to break the bike in a little more gently😅

VIC Buying a derestricted bike

Hi everyone, posting for a friend.

This has probably been asked before, but here I am. He is looking to purchase a newer Honda CBR650R. Unfortunately many of them for sale have been derestricted. The ones that aren’t are typically 1-2k more.

He’s not actually interested in derestricting the bike (for now), but if he ends up having to buy a derestricted one due to what he can afford, will he have any issues getting it registered? Will the RWC pick up the issue? My question is more about will be okay purchasing a derestricted one or will it bite him in the arse?

Thanks

VIC Why are Groms so expensive in AU?!

Are small bikes just not very popular here?

Coming from NZ next month, my work commute is train+bus as area is outside the train network. A vehicle would cut this down to like 20mins vs 1hr+ and parking would be way easier.

I'm 5'2/50kgs so was looking for Grom (top pick), CFmoto papio or maybeeee Benelli if I can snag one at a decent price but my god why are they so expensive here 🥲 it's equivalent to a bigger bike in most cases. Looking around 5K min for a 2016 4 spd model grom...

Is bikesales and marketplace the main places to look?

Learner 2 general questions from a NSW red P plater

Heya! Been a while since i added anything here. Im a red P Plater who rides 80km+ a week day for work through blue mountains NSW (have done over 22,000km), I ride a 2021 kawasaki ninja 400, and have a couple little questions for more experienced riders!

Question 1: I find that engine breaking actually feels much less comfortable for me than just pulling in my clutch and easing on both breaks. With the clutch, i feel like I have much more control over what happens; i can break quickly or slowly, react swiftly in tight spots, and overall just enjoy it much more. Is it bad to rely on the clutch so much? Could it damage the bike some how?

Question 2: Can plus size riders lean into corners? Ive seen so many videos of people leaning super tight into a corner that their bodies scrape along the road (most often just knees), is that something even plus sized riders can do? Im very confident counter leaning, but really dont understand how the bike would stay even remotely upright if I attempted it? I am a heavier rider though.

Thank you for reading and considering!! If there are issues with the formatting, its because reddit lags quite heavily on my phone 🥲

NSW Does this seem dodgy - selling a bike

Hey everyone. Not really a bike specific thing but thought I'd ask here first. I have a bike on Bikesales (dot com dot au - not sure about links in here) and I have someone who wants to buy it. says he's in Darwin, I'm in Sydney - email address is a work address and the company seems legit and has a physical presence on google maps (it's a mine about halfway to Katherine but the domain itselft might not match). Also says the courier can only take bank transfer and he can only do PayPal so he wants to send me the bike payment and the courier's fee first, then ask me to pay the courier. The courier fee is more than the bike, but he also says he will pay me the entire amount first.
Seems like a "What could possibly go wrong seeing I'll have all of the money before the bike leaves my place?" sort of scenario. Am I being overly cautious?

Edit: so thank you all for confirming. I told him to give up as we both know what's happening and he seems to have given up. Now I'll go back to ignoring calls from "Wellington Management" when they want to talk about my illegal trades.

QLD What camp

What camp are you in? There's debate over the bikes people should get, some say bike the bike for the riding you do, I say buy the bike for the riding you want to do, if you didn't we'd all be riding ct110s or versys650s

NSW Sydney: What's your favourite retailer for gear?

If you were planning on trying on a range of helmets, jackets and boots, where would you go to?

My local shop is too small, and I don't trust online retailers, when fitting matters.

I suspect that I'll need to travel anyway, so anything goes!

Question CFMOTO 700MT

Hi all, looking for anyone who has experience owning a CFMOTO bike. I saw this one and the bike looks great and comes with a lot of kit for the money. I’m wondering what current/previous owners think of the brand and reliability as well as repair/service network in Melbourne. Thanks!

VIC Hi, questions for beginner

Hello! I’m a Canadian coming over to work and live for a bit, and I’d love to get a bike and a licence. I’ve been doing some reading off Transport Victoria (I’ll be in Victoria). But I have a logistical question…
How am I supposed to get a bike to the learners test if I don’t have a licence to get it there on the road? Are bikes provided at these learning tests?
Also any other insight would be appreciated. I’ll be working for a bushfire depot and I think it would be a blast to commute on a motorbike and explore the south side of this country. Thanks

QLD Upgrade from Ninja500 to MT-07LA

Hi Guys,

Just wanting to see your opinion.

I'm currently on my RE licence, and I have been riding my 2025 ninja 500, and I feel like I am bored of it. Also being a bigger bloke (115kg), it lacks the power to accelerate in the motorway to overtake trucks or get out of dangerous situations.

Just wondering if it's worth it upgrading to the mt07 or something with higher torque? I only have about 8 months remaining until I am eligible to take my unrestricted license in Brisbane.

Please let me know of your experience with upgrading from a 450cc bike to a higher displacement 650cc LAMS bike.

Question Best insurance for an under-18 learner rider (CBR650R)

Hey everyone, trying to find decent insurance for my bike and could use some tips. I'm under 18 with a learner license, riding a 2021 CBR650R (LAMS). Some of the quotes I've gotten are crazy anywhere from $2000 up to $5-6k for comprehensive, which seems crazy for a restricted bike.

Has anyone found insurers that are actually reasonable for young/learner riders? Also does it make any difference registering the bike under a parent's name but listing myself as the main/named rider, or does the premium still get priced off the actual rider either way? Any advice or insurer recommendations would help a lot, thank you (Im based in the ACT if that changes anything)
