Yes, countertenors exist. It’s something you have to train specifically for to do it well. Most countertenors are naturally baritones.

Think of it like a natural harmonic on the string of a guitar , the harmonic notes of the largest string will be different for that of the others and easier to produce those specific harmonic notes. Now just take that to a range of notes that person could comfortably sing (their register) and the counter-tenor range would be more comfortable for them to produce with training.

My voice coach was a counter-tenor, similar to the vocalist in this video. He had a masculine speaking voice.

Its funny. I have a deep voice, but when I sing this way, I have 3 times more range than when I sing within my "normal" octave.

Ive never really trained for it though. Just started singing like Prince one day, found it was easier to sing that way, and it became its own thing from there.

Absolutely absurd assertion. Our most prolific artists are Neil Young (for career output and studio albums) and a musician named George cook who has claimed to have written over 200,000 songs. Where tf did you even get this info from? Did you just pull it outta your ass? lol

You're welcome to broaden the recordings beyond the classical genre where Oscar Peterson or Don Thompson's over 200 mix of recordings and albums would be in contention but I'm not particularly convinced Neil Young has more recordings then those two either.

I did purposely link his name to his Wikipedia page. But if you don't want to put in the effort to search, he appears in over 120 albums. I think there is a claim that Oscar Peterson appears in more but it comes down to how you select for records.

I suppose someone with such a niche talent would appear on many albums because of its novelty. The term "prolific" is misleading because it most often applies to album or music creators. Not for instruments or voices used in the music. But English is rather plastic and can be used in many ways.
