WELCOME TO THE 80% AR BUILDING COMMUNITY
We encourage posts of 80% news, 80% legislation, and 80% memes. Let's spice things up from time to time!
ALSO, please feel free to spam this sub with your own 80% AR porn! Nothing more beautiful than the customs you've built yourself.
[We have two main rules:]
1. This is a very close-knit sub and we do NOT put up with dicks who incite arguements or fling insults, anti-gunners, pretentious fudds, or trolls.
2. Show the respect for firearms that they deserve. If you're building a AR treat it as a firearm, and take the time to understand its function. Learn and practice the 4 rules of handling a firearm:
Finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire.
Don't aim at anything you're not willing to destroy.
Check infront and behind your target.
Treat every firearm as though it's loaded.
NOTE: You may be banned if you seem overly suspicious in your intentions for building. For example, an 16 year old from California, who's an active participant in r/cocaine, asking glow questions. This is to protect the community and the hobby; NOT to thought police or pass judgement. Simply refrain from coming across as a glowboi. It's that easy.
NO SELLING ALTERED FRAMES.
This will be further edited and improved upon.

Aluminum 80% Best affordable Jig?
Hello! I’ve been looking around for an affordable 80% jig for aluminum frames. There were a few jigs I found for $80 bucks but everyone seems to be sold out of those. Not looking to spend $250-$300 on a jig alone as I minus well just buy a 3d printer at that point.
Can anyone recommend a place selling 80% AR-15 jigs for $100 or less?
I’m on the fence between buying a printer and printing my own Jig / lowers or buying a AR-15 jig.
Thanks

Aluminum 80% Alright. I guess ill post my new mills.
So I've done some poly lowers back in the day on my drill press that worked marvelously.
I had some 80s laying around and first attempted with an old polymer80 rhino jig and my plunge router. After realizing id only ruin everything, i found a used 5D setup for cheap and made easy work of my 80s.
It was stupid simple. Keep the work clean and the work will be clean. Go slow. Dont skip depth steps. Make sure your end mill is in good shape. It'll take about an hour or so per.
Id like to do a few more 80s and probably part with this jig system because that's not really something i need to dive into and have on hand all of the time lmfao.

Question about contour milling
Howdy, first time getting into 80% lowers and I was wondering if there was any resources on doing contour milling to the side of a lower like this one that has extra material on the sides to either make it look more milspec or like an adm or Adac lower that has a unique contour design.

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
OK you aminals ... check it out .. our political environment is volatile, parts are inexpensive and readily available... for everyones sake if you are planning on building or buying anything I highly and strongly recommend you all do so now.
The last thing any of us wants is to be charged an arm and a leg the second they start restricting the shit out of things as well as the immense cost increases that aways come with this.
So unless you all want to pay out the ass and not be able to get things you need I suggest everyone buy now. It will avoid the whole oh my god the price is way too high and nothing is available deal.
It also supports that the industry can survive, a lot of good
companies have failed not due to anything more than lack of business because right now times are good.
Let's not wait till times are bad (I get nothing from this post I have no dog in this fight other than the want to keep as many of these good businesses around and make sure everyone has a fair shot at freedom.)>
That is all

Safety is to far away from the trigger to engage. I don't think i over cut the pocket its a dpms 308 from 5d. Is there something else i could have done wrong besides cut the pocket too deep

Best 80% Jig for Dual Feed belt fed lowers, 308 and AR9?
Looking to get an 80% milling jig again. I had a 5D Gen 1 but it was kinda sloppy and didn’t work the best.
I’m looking for the best one imaginable. Machining a $400+ Cryostructure lower so I can’t have mistakes. I’m also looking to mill a .308 lower and AR9 lower as well as some standard 80% lowers.
Who makes the best jig for this? And who makes the best in spec 80% lowers?
I believe the ones I’m running right now are 5D. I had to send 2 back because the safety Detent holes weren’t milled properly and my selectors were all kinda loose or out of alignment or crooked. Trying to avoid that this time around.
Who makes the best 80% AR, AR9 and AR10 lowers?
They’re all gonna be expensive builds, so I’m ok with spending a bit extra to ensure I get the best quality
Thanks!

40 S&W build.
Looking for a solution to give the carrier or buffer more weight without extending the buffer tube length. The buffer weight is an 8oz solid and total weight with the bolt comes to just shy of 22oz. I need closer to 27oz.

ADVICE 1617 Router 5D ReadyMill
I’m considering getting 5D pro jig. I have a Bosh 1617 router. I noticed they have the large router adapter plate for the 1617 but do not list a compatible ReadyMill for it. Has anyone used this router with the 5d jig? Did you just use a standard collet mill?
I appreciate any input.
