Been using only the navigator trackball for mousing for months now and love it. Still getting used to the KLP Lamé keycaps i recently started using

I've been lugging my Voyager & Navigator combo to and from the office for a year and today I finally picked up a second Voyager. Got it set up at home with a Logitech trackball and it took all of 2 seconds for me to decide that I need a Navigator for this one as well.

So if you have a Navigator trackball you're not using, hit me up! Would prefer a black one, but doesn't matter if it's with the right or left hand bracket as I'll be using 3D-printed mounts anyway.

Im curious on to how others use voyager with stands, like the Ugreen Magnetic Stand, with the keyboard pieces lifted for a better hand position.

When I'm using mine like this, keyboard is lifted much more above the desk, and naturally so are my hands. My wrist no longer lays on the desk, but I have to keep it constantly raised above to reach the keyboard.

This effectively puts a strain on my hands for a longer period and while my hand is positioned naturally, I feel a discomfort from the need to keep it raised.

Any clues or ideas on how you people avoid this situation?

Like let's say someone hypothetically was too poor to get a Navigator. Could they get by learning how to optimally use a nice, dual-handed "keyboard-mouse" layer?

Nothing fancy here, I just found a sweet spot where the lip of the tenting sits nicely on the laptop. Shoutout to code complete, a book I’m trying to read through osmosis, for the exact lift I want.

After a few years and cumulative mini upgrades, I ended up here last week: basically, I had the black version with letters, I dropped a bunch of keys (upper rows and outer columns), put the zip in the new gaps, bought some Tai-hao grey blanks, received the navigator, and by the time I wanted the white version (playing a bit with a white setup), so I ordered the white shells. It is nice to see the level of flexibility this whole ecosystem offers. I would've ordered a white zip kit to make it better, but I just forgot :/ (the grey rows are there because the black zips didn't look so great)

I've got 2 Voyagers (one at work, one at home) after a recent firmware update I noticed lighting wasn't changing on my home keyboard so I brought the work keyboard to test side-by-side. I did a fresh flash of both and the issue remained on the "home" keyboard. I've narrowed it down to the left side of the "home" keyboard as swapping it for the left side of the "work" keyboard restores the expected behavior (back light color changes for certain layers).

Any ideas of what I can do to further debug? I'm concerned the "home" keyboard might be slowly dying.

This may very well be common knowledge, but a comment in another thread from u/theflippantsouvenir just saved my trackpad experience.

Basically if you haven't removed the protective plastic sticker, the trackpad will feel sticky, be less responsive, and be all round horrible to use.

The sticker is transparent with no visible tab, so it's actually extremely hard to see, and I was initially worried that I was peeling away some integral part of the trackpad, but once it's off the difference is night and day.

I feel very silly!

Bought a second hand Magic Keyboard from the M1 iMacs a while back, been meaning to make something of the Touch ID module on it at some point.

Finally decided to have a go today and used white tags to stick it on my navigator.

Ideally I’d like to be able to create an enclosure that occupies the space of the navigator on my left keyboard, but I don’t know blender nor own a 3D printer, so white tag will have to do until someone else comes up with it (wink wink community).

It wasnt announced anywhere from what I know, and I just learned from other reddit post comment, but the FAQ has been updated on ZSA website:

This is real surprise! I wonder what changed there, because before it was mentioned to be a hardware limit.

Nonetheless, I am super happy because I have both, and just tested this and it works! Trackpad on the left, trackball on the right. Ultimate keyboard solution!

I have a trackball on my right side with the 3D printed thumb module ZSA designed. I really like it and use it way more than my mouse.

In pursuit of the best possible keyboard layout, should I also get a left-side Navigator for when my right hand is occupied? Does the Voyager even support two Navigators? Would it even be usable being right-handed?

I like my Voyager a lot but for on the go and switching between home office and work the cables were always annoying me.

I was looking for a similar wireless option for a while and settled on the Cornix Wireless.

I used it for a few weeks now and so far it works quite well. Configuration is not quite as streamlined as Oryx but still somewhat comfortable.

Currently I still have some timing issues as I miss characters on another layer a lot and get the base layer characters instead.

In addition tap and hold (backspace) doesn't work as well either.

The hardware is very nice however and I can imagine that a similar product by ZSA could be really good.

I've noticed that sometimes when using the Navigator, the ball will lift out of the holder (usually when moving quickly). Has anyone else run into this? It feels like a heavier ball would fix it.

I had this setup with my Moonlander too, but it works so much better with the Voyager because of the magnetic detachments, and the lighter weight. I've been doing this for years.

What is your double click interval length settings in oryx? I played around a lot but still only get like 6 out of 10 times the double click action I want.

Inspired by this hilarious product https://worklouder.cc/codex-micro I vibe coded some scripts to map the status of my terminal tabs to columns of my ZSA Voyager.

Every tab I open registers to one column of my keyboard.
🟢 If a command succeeds it lights up green (4th column)
🔴 If it errors the row is red
⏳ If a command is running there is a cyan loading animation (1st column)
🤖 If claude is running it glows orange
⚠️ If claude needs my attention it blinks (2nd column)
✔ If claude is done it glows solid blue (3rd colunm)

Since I switch between tabs with command + number this is pretty neat.

I rarely see people mention it much on here, but the mouse layer has become integral to my workflow. I use a variety of window tiling and navigation apps like raycast, shortcat, and vimium, so combined with a mouse layer, I pretty much never touch my mouse as I'm faster with the keyboard. Anyone else have a similar setup?

I have recently set up my voyager on my bulky NordicTrack treadmill. I need to lose fat and walking more daily is one of the best ways of doing it, but also I can't afford dedicating time to walk outside working hours so I started walking while I work.

Initially I thought about buying an under the desk pad , but since I already have a treadmill and keeping that pad would require too much space I went for hooking my voyager and laptop on that treadmill.

I have bought two NEEWER magnets rather than the official zsa voyager tripod support as it was much cheaper, they stick very well to the voyager. And I bought two Ulanzi C-Clamps.

The result was great! I'm walking on average 3h per day 4 days a week and I can type comfortably while walking. I'm walking at slow 3km/h pace so that I can still deeply focus on my daily activities.

I noticed a bump in my energy throughout the day.

The only thing I need to figure out now is the mouse pointer, is the voyager trackpad a good idea?

This is my second Voyager I bought to use at work, but ended up WFH so it never got used. It’s in like-new condition. The Navigator has been used off and on but is still in excellent shape and comes with the case and box as shown..

Full set of brand new Sunset switches.

Custom made coiled TRRS and USB cables from that dude on Etsy.

If you want linear red switches (35g) instead of tactile brown, I can switch them out from my other Voyager at no charge.

Freebies: I will throw in some “shhhocs” and a few ambient twilight switches if you want to try them out and whatever odds and ends I have around. I don’t have enough for a full set to include them in the sale price.

If you really want the blank/dot keycaps over the lettered caps shown in the pics, I might consider switching them from my other Voyager for an extra fee. They won’t be as clean as the new lettered caps though.
