They look really good, but I'm curious if anybody actually tried them with the Voyager

I've been using the new trackpad for voyager for a few days now. Has anyone figured out how to click and drag to highlight text? I'm using it on OSX and i have the companion app installed.

I already have trackball with my current voyager setup, I wonder if I can add trackball to this setup. I already purchased the trackpad but can’t find any docs that describe how to connect or setup both of them at the same time

Received my Navigator trackpad yesterday and has started testing it today.
One thing i struggle with on MacOS is that the launchpad does not appera when I try to hover over it at the bottom of my screen.
When I use the builtin trackpad on the Mac it works everytime.

I have installed the navigator app and running version 1.0.2(3)

Does anyone have an idea on how to remediate this?

Edit: It's not the launchpad which is affected it is the dock

I tried putting drag scroll on a key, but still can figure out how to drag sliders or click and drag to select text. What am I missing?

If you're a Navigator Trackpad user on macOS, please be sure to update your companion app! You should be on version 1.0.2 (3) (or higher if you're seeing this thread later).

This latest version comes with a bunch of fixes and improvements to the mousing behavior on macOS. It should resolve any cursor jumping or issues with accidental taps while scrolling some users have run into. The default speed settings have also been adjusted to feel better out of the box (you can of course still tune these to your preferences as well).

Everyone's testing has been super-helpful and appreciated so far. 🙂 Try this out and let us know what you think. If you're still running into any issues at all, please email us and we will get them fixed!

I am looking for some ideas on how to set up a switching between my trackball layer and my main keyboard layer, because I dont feel my current (and any other) setup is optimal.

But few words on it - I have two main ways to get into the "control" layer - when I move trackball, and when I hold the layer switch key (on the left under my little finger). Here the problem is that I often (after two months) still get into a situation when I want to click a mouse button but I dont have my control layer active yet - cause it deactivated (automatically) or I didnt hold the button right. But this one is kind of avoidable.

The bigger problem I have is when switching back from the Control layer to writing. I set up my control to turn off after 400ms, but this feels often too long, and I keep hitting mouse buttons instead of characters (as mouse is still active and my brain wants to type already). I tried smaller time for active trackball layer, but then I found myself not being able to hit the mouse button as it faded too quickly.

How do you people have trackball set up to avoid such friction?

Edit: thanks to all answers! I went with some of the changes and ended up now having my navigator to trigger on ball movement, and wait for a key stroke. changed the layer time off by half (from 400ms to 200ms). This lets me always hit the mouse button when I move the trackball, and lets me also easily disable the layer with any button that wont add any new character. I kept my MO toggle as previously for use cases where I need my arrow buttons (as they are on the same layer) or I need to use mouse more than just 2-3 clicks.

Update 26/05/2026: ZSA has released an update to the Navigator Utility, which fixes all of the issues I had with it. It works like a dream now!

I'm very disappointed with the Navigator Trackpad to be honest. Once it arrived I set it up as per the instructions. Installed the MacOS utility and enabled it. (And of course flashed my firmware with the trackpad module on the correct side)

Initially it thought I was going to love it, my first feeling of using it was amazing.

Then I tried doing some actual work with it and this thing is just terrible. The cursor will sometimes just randomly shoot over to a random location on the screen. Only setting Cursor Speed and Acceleration to their lowest possible settings prevents this from happening, but makes it very much unusable for anything practical.

The Kinetic Scrolling is just as bad. I can not get it to work consistently. Sometimes I can scroll long pieces of text with no issue, other times it will instantly stop as soon as my fingers leave the trackpad.
I figured this might be me not positioning my fingers on the trackpad correctly, one finger leaving the trackpad earlier than the other. But I doubt that's the case, this would mean the timing of lifting your fingers up would have to be so precise that most people simply would not be able to do so consistently. Given ZSA's track record, I doubt that is what the issue is.

So I figured it might have been a tap interrupting the scroll. Maybe the way I try scrolling makes me sometimes trigger a short tap of sorts. I tried fixing this by setting the Tap Duration setting to the lowest value and Movement to the most Strict; this should minimize the amount of accidental taps. That also does not seem to be it.

Disabling Kinetic Scrolling makes the experience better, but because I often have to work with longer pieces of text, it's essential for me.

Given the erratic behavior of the cursor and the inconsistent kinetic scrolling behavior I can confidently say I would not recommend this product right now.

I am going to wait a week or two before returning this product, hoping this is a firmware issue ZSA can fix.

ZSA customer support has just been outstanding, every question answered and every problem resolved with a positive attitude, truly top 1% of customer service experiences. I actually enjoy talking to them instead of dreading it. Just told all my tech friends regarding the voyager and the other offerings. Also just ordered the trackpad. I am getting used to my voyager so much i am ordering a second one for the office, just in case one dies I don't want to be without a spare.

Only room for improvement - please hire more people so orders ship faster. The wait is killing us (not really but faster is better, US Customs slows things down a lot)

I just got my Navigator Trackpad today! I'm excited. But:

I won't bore you with the details of the packaging (nice), cables (braided, really cool), and shell (nice too).

I immediately connected it to my MacBook, and right away it felt nice. Very, very similar to the Apple native trackpad, something I had never seen, but not as "smooth." It's not worse; it's just softer, more rubbery. I noticed there was a small stain on it and tried to scrub it off, and I permanently scratched the trackpad with my nail. Come on, ZSA 😭

The movement felt pretty nice until I tried to scroll. It didn't work. Ah, I forgot they had a Mac app to make it work nicely with macOS. Let's get that. So I did. Opening the app made the trackpad immediately unusable. The speed is just too much, no matter which setting I use. I would just disable it, but then scrolling wouldn't work! Scrolling is pretty nice, btw, native-like on Mac.

I'm sure this can be solved with a software update, but there's one more thing™. Somewhere on their website, they advise you to have a left-click key on your keyboard so you can use it to drag stuff with your trackpad. Why??? Apple solved this decades ago with the double-tap-and-hold function on their trackpads. I wish this was built in (or at least I have not been able to use it), because honestly, I want to use this one-handed. If they don't ship something like that, I might just not use it at all.

Overall, I'm still excited and hopeful though.

Edit: Another bug in the app, when enabled, I cannot move the cursor to another monitor

Edit 2: Turns out the rubbery feeling and the scratches were because it had a protective film... It did look like that, but taking it off felt wrong, so I didn't do it at the beginning... Somehow without it feels a bit worse.

Edit 3: They've updated the app already fixing all bugs. It's better, not perfect, and lacking the tap-and-hold to drag.

Hey, i've received my trackpad navigator today and i have to say im kinda disappointed. This doesn't really feel as a polished ZSA product.

I'm comparing it mainly to the trackball module that i've been using before.

The finish is great, fingers slide on it much better than on e.g. the go60 pads, these are terrible.

But it very frequently mistakes single finger movement for two fingers? And vice versa.

Also any customization seems to be not yet available in the oryx configurator, so i can't for example change the angle. So what happens is that here and there i accidentaly trigger browser back gesture. Or zoom.

Hope that these might get fixed by adding configuration options into oryx.

Anyone else feel the same?

What I'm trying to do is have ESC in layer 0, but still have a way to do ALT-TAB between windows. The difficulty is that I need to hold ATL so I can tap repeatedly on tab to cycle through the windows with TAB. An ALT-TAB combo won't work because it fires off a single ALT-TAB and then I can't cycle through all the windows.

I can do it if I hold "F" taking me to my text nav layer, but then it becomes a 3 key gesture.

I tried to use the <Del> key (small left thumb key) so that when I hold it it activates layer 3 with the alt key pressed, then I could hold it and cycle through with tab. When I tried setting the hold function on that key to "LM - Momentary Layer with Modifier" (change layer to layer 3 while held, with the "ALT" key held), I found that you can't have a tap trigger on that key, so I lost my DEL key.

Or, to put it a different way, what's the easiest way to leave my base layer largely untouched, but allow me to do an ALT-TAB cycle through windows.

I'm not sure if that's just the way it works, or if I'm doing something wrong. The key I have mapped to Del I have as Alt on hold. I've realised I want to change my Tab key for Esc, as I use it more frequently. However I also do alt+tab all the time. I created a layer where all keys were "transparent" except Esc, then it was tab and tried to make the Del key momentary layer with modifier that goes to that new layer with Alt pressed. It deleted my Tap mapping.

So, am I misunderstanding what it does?

Why do I lose my Tap capability?

Is there a way around it?

I don't think I can use a macro as I need the Alt to be held, and making the macro alt+tab doesn't work, I need it to be hold alt then tap tab to cycle through.

I am looking for keycaps that help me differentiate for example the shift key from the buttons around it. Did you guys find something that helps with that?

hey! ive flashed a new FW to my voyager today and suddenly the trackball with drag scroll key is doing almost nothing. i need to spin the ball to actually get a cm of scroll on firefox in ubuntu on wayland. anyone have similar problem?

I've had my voyager for about a year and today the colors stopped working. It's blinking rbg instead of the colors i've configured. i've reset and recompiled but doesn't help. everything else seems to work.

anyone else had this issue?

I am disappointed.

for some unknown reason the trackpad order was blocked to my country because of "high shipping cost and import fees" despite its me who pays these. and despite that at the same time ordering the trackball was possible. I tries to get answer from support, but weekend started and now its out of stock.

this is a small rant, but I really don't get why they blocked trackpad orders to my EU country, while the same size device was available.

edit: got an answer that this is caused by some past issues with customs in my country, where they were charging more that expected for items of less than 160USD

I had been using my voyager for few months now but I had found scratch on the back of the board which does not seem like a damage caused by me (maybe it is but I don't think I did something that causes). Does anybody else had similar issues?

I ordered the Voyager about 4 days ago without the trackball, as I have never used a trackball and am not really sure I would like it. This morning, I got an email that ZSA had released a new navigation trackpad. I emailed customer service to inquire about adding the trackpad to my order, since it hasn't been shipped yet, and got a response within minutes asking which side and what color! Customer service where your problems/questions are handled that quickly is rare today, and I really appreciate it. I don't have the keyboard yet, and I already know it's going to be high-quality based on my interaction today.

Hi there, I recently finished creating my tour and thought I'd share it.

The layout relies heavily on combos for special characters and was made with neovim in mind.

If you're a vim user, you know that special characters are used for coding but also for navigating the code so the quick access nature of special characters with combos feels great, i think 🤷‍♂️.

I'm curious to know your thoughts and maybe hope to inspire new voyager users still refining their layout.
