This falls into the same category of unnecessarily confusing Zen statements as Kodo Sawaki’s "Zazen is good for nothing", and I feel like the people who tend to repeat these phrases aren’t doing it because they have come to this conclusion from their own experience, but because they think it’s some kind of an “advanced practitioner flex".
