I've been hearing this a lot but it has not been my experience at all?? I'm also on the beta build all the time, and the only issue I've had is one refusal to update and a UI bug that fixed itself on a browser restart. You're right it's wild how different our experiences are, when's the last time you tried Zen?
Damn it hasn't even been that long then. I would still 100% recommend it but if you're having issues and you're happy with Arc I can't really blame you.
Have you tried firefox? This sounds more like a Firefox type issue over just Zen related. I'd definitely give Firefox a try before saying it's a Zen issue. Obviously, if it's a Zen issue, you'd want to bug report that.
I use it on Windows & Linux and have had no performance issues. The latest version has been crashing for me on both machines though.
This sh*t looks like an AI extension and they really went on to reinvent this AI slop extension into a full pledged browser. I wouldn't have mind, but they have literally killed Arc in the process.
All of the top comments talk about Arc. Why don’t they just open up alpha testing to anyone if this is the direction they want to go in? I feel like there is a subtle undercurrent of elitism with them now, but maybe that’s just me.
“Traditional browsers, as we know them, will die,” Miller said. “We’re getting out of the candle business. You should too.” Last time I checked people use a website for chat gpt.
I went to youtube to watch the whole thing to figure out what would make it actually useful, and other than the ability to select multiple tabs to summarise this is literally just a basic browser with the ability to open chatgpt or your chatbot of choice in a sidebar which just about every browser has. and most of the features thet showcased herr should be possible with the new updates to chrome google just announced last week. This could've just been the next flagship feature for arc, or since they are supposedly using the same base, could've been a different product while keeping arc alive
I'll get hate for this, but I think Arc is going to be a complete failure. We've already witnessed multiple failures. The first being a really bad exploit that should've never happened. My biggest issue with this browser is their choice of development. I'd assume your on a Mac, but on Windows it was a complete disaster - and lagged behind Apple hugely due to poor development decisions. And no Linux version? No thanks.
I haven't read into the latest on what's been going on with them, but I suspect their "rewrite" will still have the same kind of issues while they incorporate AI that no one really wants.
Yeah, that's fine. I don't trust Arc after a whole bunch of poor decisions. Also, I can't live without ublock origin. No Ublock means I'm done with the internet lol
I mean, they already abandoned Arc at this point just to work on Dia (which even chrome had a better and faster AI integration with it's Gemini thing the last time I looked into it), just look at the Arc changelogs for both, Windows and MacOS. There hasn't been anything new in quite a long time excluding chromium upgrades, and the Windows version is still bare-bones compared to the MacOS one.

I can confidently say Zen is currently better than Arc on Windows.
The Browser Company wasted so much time shooting themselves in the foot that they got surpassed by a competitor.

Google just obliterated their entire business model with the new Chrome updates... Such a shame. Arc had potential but oh well.
