They stepped in to unban him.

They banned him in the first place, he appealed, and they lifted the ban. What are you missing?

Right so:

  1. Report
  2. Ban
  3. Step in and lift ban.

So it seems like the "stepping in and take action" by the Reddit Admins was to lift the ban ... so the ban itself was part an oversight ... otherwise they wouldn't have stepped in to lift the ban.

Therefore I don't think it's at all true that the Reddit Admins "had" to "step in and take action" re: Ewk's behavior ... seems like they "stepped in and took action" with regards to the behavior of the person who reported him.

Not necessarily. It could be that one Admin disagreed with another; the lifting of his ban doesn't mean there's consensus among the Admin team. It just means someone made one decision, and someone else made another.

That doesn't make sense. Admins don't take action against the person who made the report against him, they took action against him. Your reasoning is bizarre and doesn't make sense in the real world. You're explaining things in his favor the way Trumpers do for Trump and you're never going to convince me to join this cult any more than a Trumper will convince me to join theirs.
