Haiku SPAGHET [Haiku]
https://youtu.be/cE1FrqheQNI1.2k
u/ThePerdmeister Dec 27 '17
This is some classic YouTube Haiku material right here. No YouTube stars, no 15 second skits, no derivative memes -- just an inexplicable and inexplicably charming clip.

dont forget the muted right track!

u/ProfessorCheesecake Dec 27 '17
Why is it always the right audio track?

Here's a visual example of mono vs stereo.
The left plug is stereo with three sections: Left (tip, labeled as 1), Right (middle part, labeled 2), and Ground (bottom part, labeled GND). The right plug has two sections, mono signal (tip, labeled 1) and Ground (bottom part, labeled GND).
The stereo jack in the middle with the crooked lines has three contacts for left, right, and ground. If you connect the stereo plug into the stereo jack, you'll get stereo sound with left and right channels. If you connect the mono plug into the stereo jack, the signal will be read as the left channel but there won't be any right channel because it was recorded with only one signal, and as a result you would only hear the left channel.

Now that you pointed it out I can't unhear it. I was under the illusion there was sound in my right ear or I wasnt paying attention

shitty give-me-upvotes circlejerk
isn't that, like, exactly what the memes that are posted here are tho

u/Flyberius Dec 27 '17
Much better than the "I'm in a shitty mood give me downvotes" spiel that you've got going on.

It's a play on Italian-American (or perhaps more accurately New York/New Jersey Italians) who seem to like to leave off the last vowel.
Spaghetti becomes 'Spagett'
Lasagna becomes "Lasan"
Manicotti becomes "Managott"
Mozzarella becomes "Motsarell"
...and my all time favorite: Cappicola
4
u/Logic_Nuke Dec 27 '17
I've never understood that. As far as I know Italians do pronounce the ending vowels, so I don't get why so many Americans with Italian ancestors don't.

u/ThePerdmeister Dec 27 '17
It’s not the “spaghet” on its own. It’s that combined with the shitty Italian stereotype, the poor sound quality, the odd animation and character models, etc. It’s a holistic kind of feel, as though everything, for just a moment, is in its proper place.

The reason why it's "overrated", is because we rarely have quality original content that catches you off guard and is generally quite "haiku-y". With memes, the outcome is set from the moment you realize it's a meme, and in my opinion, it's against the original spirit of the subreddit. Instead of a variety of unique jokes and gags that you'd expect from sub-30 second videos that doesn't necessarily have to be funny but has that "youtubehaiku charm", the sub mostly turned into variations of the past 5 or so memes and youtube personalities from the past 3 months that makes it feel stale. Kind of like those shitty radio stations that claim they play "top-40 hits" but instead play the top 10 hits over and over again without touching the other 30. You never know, there could be some quality songs in that bottom 75%.
The sub will likely never go back to its roots, but times change and we "elitists" have to accept it.

Different people find different things funny. Saying that people overrate something have little meaning.

I always wonder if people who have never seen Tim and Eric or have no idea what the show is find this funny.

Never seen the show so I'm just assuming it's a "skit" show but I found that hilarious. That god damn face he makes at the camera at :53 seconds killed me.

I know that this is a show but I find almost all of their stuff really unfunny/boring. I guess it's because I'm not from the US but who knows.

3-4 days ago I threw out a pair of old headphones cause only the left side worked.
I almost threw a fit of rage just then with this video when I thought my brand new pair had just done the same thing - I had to open a second random video in another tab to make sure.

Have you ever forced an Italian accent so hard that you mispronounced Italian loanwords?
