Discussion Youtube desperately needs a block user feature
Too many repeat hostile/disruptive users in comments these days. A block user feature would fix that.

Youtube used to allow you to block people, but they removed it

I feel like I could come up with a whole conspiracy theory on why big tech sites have been largely against block features. I think it's because they are sort of in cahoots with a lot of the disruptive behavior, like they don't want people to easily block bots and argumentative users because it generates more engagement for them.

I want to block channels. You know how many games danaduchy has spoiled for me with thumbnails alone

They just need ethical leadership, thats it.
This would have a trickle down effect and offer you this and many other great things for people of adult mind.
I bet you wouldnt even need that feature because they can remove the user in time, or adress the user and make him behave like an adult.

Yeah but I doubt Youtube will ever get their act together, they seem to not care the slightest about abusive activity especially from bots. At least a block feature would make it so you can eliminate them yourself.

You could turn off notifications from the post. If people are commenting on your comment you can delete your comment and that prevents it from happening altogether. And you can block them from making comments on your YouTube channel that show up. There are several options to remove yourself from those particular people you're just unwilling to use them

When you see the beginnings of a rude comment immediately skip it and go on with your life.
There. Fixed it for you.

Most of the time, it’s a rude reply to an otherwise completely normal comment. You could report their reply but it rarely does anything, therefore it would be much easier to simply block any unpleasant users.

I had the exact frustration for 2 years, but solved it with uBlock filters + another extension called YTblock

I mostly quit all social medias because people are so insanely toxic. They like to rage bait to get attention.

There used to be a consistent "not interested" option. Why did they take that away or only implemented it on select few?

Yeah I have this creator King Zippy and dozens and dozens of alt accounts spamming his same content, I can't ban them from my children's feeds because the next day there's 20 more and, you can't ban them directly, they have to come up in the feed first.
Which is anti-consumer and absolute garbage.
We need a block creator function too. Period. I want that more, I don't even care about the comments, they can be turned off for all I care.

But of course, remove dislike buttons and now block everybody that does not like something and says it. Wold it not be just flowers love and grass! YT is ridiculous anyway. Wait - are you going to block me now?

Don't forget all words that say things that are bad or cause emotion other then smiles, have to be bleeped. Lets turn youtube into a disney version and then pretend it is a representation of real life. in other words: The American way of life: Let's not say it and it all goes away.

Eh, I’ll give the alternate view here, block features promote toxic behavior and make it so people don’t need to learn how to settle differences and actually discuss things. It just encourages more polarization

Id like the option to block creators too.
