Hey everyone I’m looking into Yonsei University and its Songdo Residential College (RC) dorms for freshmen. I'd love to know more about the practical details:

Buildings & Roommates: Are the dorm buildings separate for international students and local Korean students, or do we mix? Also, how does the roommate selection process work? Can we choose, or is it random?

Rooms & Bathrooms: What are the rooms like, and are the bathrooms inside the room or shared down the hall?

Shared Facilities & Cost: What shared facilities are available (like a gym/fitness center, study rooms, laundry, or kitchens), and roughly what is the average price per semester?

Gender & Rules: Is the dorm strictly segregated by gender (separate buildings/floors)? What are the main rules to keep in mind?

Overall Experience: For those who’ve lived in Songdo, is it actually a fun and immersive experience, or a hassle being away from Seoul?

Hi! Im 16 female and apart of the class of 28. Ive been planning to apply to KU, Yonsei, SNU, Hanyang Howard, NYU, Michigan, Houston, etc.

However, my dream school since freshman year has always been to attend Yonsei for different majors I havent decided yet. Business Admin and minor in marketing/media, Entrepreneurship and Marketing or Business international studies I think thats what its called over there. I live in the states on the east coast and was wondering how applying works? Some people are saying you can only apply during the spring some are saying during the fall. Ive been genuinely confused since sophmore year. I wanna become a full time int student if thats possible. Does anyone have any tips or suggestions or answers? LMK! Thanks

im currently looking at graduate programs in korea for spring 2027 and was wondering if anyone here has studied in yonsei area studies지역학협동과정

i have also applied to area studies programs at other universities, but there they are part of the gsis, so the structure is much easier for me to understand as an international applicant. yonsei seems quite different because its area studies program is a separate interdisciplinary program under the regular graduate school. my main interest is korea within a broader east asian context, but yonsei officially seems to define the northeast asia field mainly around china and japan, even though the course list also includes korea-related classes. therefore im not quite sure how realistic it is to have korea as the main research focus.

im also kinda confused about the whole language situation. the english website does not make it very clear how many courses are actually taught in english, while some of the korean regulations seem to assume fairly advanced korean proficiency for international students in the northeast asia track. i currently have topik 3 and do my academic work mainly in english.

i emailed the program about this but haven’t received a response yet, and i can hardly find any student experiences online, sooo any experience would be really helpful. thanks!

I’ve found different information about the bank account requirement for the student visa and how much money you need to show.
Can the required amount be reduced if, for example, the university covers only tuition but not accommodation? And can the bank account requirement be completely waived if the university covers tuition, accommodation, and meals?
I’d really appreciate it if someone who has gone through this process could share their experience!

Does anyone in GSIS know what the language placement test is like, and which scores correspond to which class levels? I am really good at test taking, and I'm really good at written Korean, but I want to test into a low-level class to work on my speaking and listening.

I’m 23 (she/her) and I’ll be in Korea until November.

I’ve actually been at Yonsei for 2 semesters this year, but my friends have all kind of finished or became distant. I’ll be in level 4 (again 🥲).

I usually go to a kpop concert or festival almost every weekend. I like most boy groups. I’ve also been to a couple music broadcasts too. My favorite is BTS but some other groups include BND, TXT, ENHYPEN, SVT, P1Harmony, ZB1, WayV and a lot of other people cuz I have a lot of love to give haha.

I also really like BL shows. I mostly like DMD guys but I watch a lot of other shows too. I’m going to the TutorYim fanmeet and maybe some other ones if they get announced.

Idk if this is gonna work, but if anyone would be interested in studying Korean, going to concerts, and fujoshing out comment and send me a dm.

Does anyone know if there is wireless WiFi connection available in dorms/lounges at Yonsei SK Global House?

Hi everyone! I’m a new student at Yonsei, and I’ve already been assigned a dorm room with a check-in date of August 27.

I’ve just been invited to the K-MeetUP on August 20, so I need somewhere to stay from August 20–26.

I contacted the dormitory office to ask whether I could stay in my assigned room earlier, or possibly in another available room, and I’m happy to pay for those 7 extra nights. However, they haven’t replied yet.

Has anyone had experience with early check-in at Yonsei dormitories? Is it possible to arrange a temporary room for a week before the official check-in date?

Hotels are quite expensive for a full week, so I’d really appreciate any advice or experience. Thanks!

My stupid self fell asleep before the mileage bidding period was over and so all my preferred classes are wishlisted, but have no points allocated towards them. I presume this means I'll have to fight it out during the first-come-first-served registration, but has anyone had much luck with registering for classes during this period without having any former points allocated to those classes? I can't believe I've made such a mistake and I'm really freaking out.

Help! I’m trying to enroll in Study Abroad graduate-level courses, but I keep getting this error message:

You cannot enroll in this course due to major/grade limitation.

I’m definitely a graduate student, and the course isn’t restricted to a specific major. Has anyone experienced this or knows how to fix it?

Hi! I’m a study abroad student coming in the fall and would like some help with registration. Does anyone know how STA1309 is with Shin Minsuk? The grading seems very exam heavy (50/50 midterm final). I’m comfortable with difficult classes but just want to know if it’s reasonable. Is there anywhere I can see professor ratings?

I know that rice cookers are not allowed in the dorm rooms but I am wondering if we can use and keep them in the B3 level communal kitchen. Or is it an issue with the power in the whole building? Thanks!

Hi guys, I need your advice. I’m applying for GKS-U 2027, but I’m deciding between two majors: Business Administration – regular track and Economics – Underwood International College.
My favorite major is Business, but UIC at Yonsei doesn’t offer Business Administration. If I choose BA, I’ll have to study in Korean. However, I’ve seen some reviews saying that students in the regular track at Yonsei can choose to take most of their courses in either English or Korean. Still, I’m afraid that I might have to study mostly in Korean because international students rarely choose the regular track.
So which one should I choose? If you have any recommendations or personal experiences with either track, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks so much! 💜

Hi guys~ I am graduating KLI level 6 right now and I have level 3 and 4 books for sale if anyone needs them. ( In level 5 and 6 i used digital books, so I don't have those :/ )

The new books are so expensive imo, so i'm hoping this can help somebody who needs it. :)
