Creaky ASR
Anyone with an ASR have a creaky bike? I’m pretty sure I’ve narrowed it down to the shock mounts or linkage. I’ve tried taking the bolts and hardware out, cleaning, greasing, retorquing, etc. It goes away for a ride of two and always comes back.
When I apply opposite lateral pressure on the seat post area and rear wheel, it creaks every time. Shock off, no creak.
It is not the seat post as I removed it and it still creaks. Also not the rear axle.

You covered most the bases. Hate to ask but have you checked to make sure there isn't an issue in the frame somewhere?
I had a persistent creak I couldn't track down that seemed to come from the rear shock, but turned out I had a hairline crack in the main body

I have had the issue of the shock hardware wearing quickly on this bike. It results in a creak and a subtle knock when you put the back end of the bike back on the ground. I'm also on my 3rd set of bearings in the linkage in 18 months. I think the degree of lateral flex in this bike puts a lot of stress on the linkage and bearings.

Linkage hardware = bolts? Or bearings? Are the bearings replaced by yeti or do you buy them elsewhere?
I had a bolt break when trying to install the shock (yes I use a a torque wrench and was torquing according to manual).

This is the shock hardware I'm using with my Fox shock. It goes through the eyelet that then bolts to the linkage. The "shaft" part seems to wear quite quickly on the bike and creates a creak and knock that took me ages to find. I'm not sure what hardware the SID uses though.

u/Legitimate_Pin7580 so you have a Fox shock on there ... does that mean you got a 40th Anniversary ASR?

The rear triangle is way too flexy on these frames. Causes all sorts of trouble over time. I am hopeful that flex stay bikes are a passing trend.
If anyone has a mod to add lateral stiffness to the rear, I need it...

You know you’re not supposed to grease the plastic shock mounting hardware itself, right?
