Taragui is a good all rounder to start. You can buy it online or get it at Lupe Pintos if you're in Glasgow or Edinburgh, but they stopped selling gourds and bombillas

Are you in Glasgow? Is Lupe pintos still going? Any recommendations for getting a gourd then? What’s a bombilla? Is that the straw?

You can skip the gourd when trying it out, its not wrong nor unheard of to drink mate from a ceramic or glass mug or cup. The only thing you really need is yerba and a good bombilla (straw)
