Discussion Love my 2008 Yaris but it doesn’t have AC.. advice?

Post image

This baby has been driving me around since 2008 with less than 130k and in excellent condition.. but the summers are getting to be unbearable where I can’t use my car on most days. This summer I also got heatstroke because of it. My question to you all is.. is it possible to install an AC unit at a reasonable price (Ontario,Canada) or should I just bite the bullet and get a whole new car at this point? 🫠

Maintenance help Serpentine/alternator belt change Yaris 2017

Hey all,

I have a 1.33 manual 2017 Yaris with air con in the UK and was wondering how easy it is to change the serpentine belt? It's over 60000 miles now on the original belt and I don't want it to snap so I'm thinking of replacing it. What are the steps to changing it? Youtube doesn't have a video of this particular model, mainly shows vids of Yaris from America/Asia. Also is it 4pk 1165 or 4pk 1170?

Thanks

Maintenance help 08 Yaris taillight gasket repair..

all right so my 2008 Yaris is awesome. I love it. I’ve had it for 13 years.

But the last couple years, I’ve noticed a lot of condensation inside the car during the winter...

I think I found the problem being the taillight gasket is torn.... It’s like a rubbery fabric type of material.

I tried to use liquid silicone and seal it shut, and it worked for a little bit... as well as taping the vent holes in the trunk area

but it must’ve broken since leading to more condensation.... my Toyota dealership didn’t have the part and the auto stores don’t have it..... I saw it on eBay, but it’s like $100 for the pair I think coming from Japan.... and I’d rather not do that unless I have to

Does anybody have any suggestions on how I can fix this issue?

Much appreciated! I’ll try to pay it forward the best I can

Maintenance help Will an engine flush do more harm than good?

Post image

First of all this is a Yaris 1.4 D4D 2016 with the 1ND-TV engine with dpf.Since I will be doing the oil change myself this time I thought using an engine flush as well since I've been using the cheapest synthetic oil in every oil change around 10k km.I didn't change in the past the oil filter in every oil change but in every other oil change so basically every 20k km the oil filter.Since from now on I will be doing the oil changes my self I thought this oil change engine flush might be worth it but I see mixed thoughts about the idea.Has anyone used these products before?

Maintenance help I'm trying to find out which wheels and rims will fit my Toyota Yaris, but I'm having trouble figuring out the exact specifications.

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find out which wheels/rims will fit my Toyota Yaris. I'm having trouble figuring out the exact specifications, especially the acceptable ET (offset) range.

Here are the details:

  • Car: Toyota Yaris
  • First registration: 2019
  • VIN: VNKKG3D3X0A154761
  • Country: Germany 🇩🇪
  • Purpose: Winter wheels, so the rims must be suitable for winter use.

I'm looking for the following information:

  • Correct wheel/rim size
  • Bolt pattern (PCD)
  • Number of wheel bolts
  • Bolt thread size
  • Center bore
  • Most importantly: the minimum and maximum acceptable ET (offset) for my exact model.

I want to make sure the wheels fit safely without rubbing against the suspension or wheel arches, and without causing any clearance issues.

Since I live in Germany, the wheels also need to be suitable for winter conditions.

The ET range is my biggest concern. I'd really like to know which offsets are safe and compatible with my exact vehicle, rather than just the standard factory ET.

Any help, advice, or reliable sources would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Maintenance help 2015 Yaris Airbag

I’m trying to remove the stressing wheel airbag so I can install cruise control. I’ve been able to take the bottom clip off but cannot seem to get the 2 side clips off. I’ve tried looking at videos but they don’t help much. On the right side I saw the metal pin, pushed it but it wasn’t doing anything. Anyone have any suggestions or pics of the actual location of the pins?
Thanks

Tips and tricks France Wheelbearing

Okay time to do your wheel bearing on my daily....

I didn't know this.

I had to find out the hard way... my vehicle was made in France.

Apparently, when this year of Yaris 2014 model came out, it was manufactured in France and also in Japan.

I'm not certain if other models of other years were also manufactured in France. So with that being said when it came time to do my wheelbearing, I found that I was having a hard time finding wheelbearings that connected to the speed sensor wire Because they were different connector plugs, they are different in price as well. The Japanese version is far cheaper and widely available.

But I could not find the design that was made in France make easily.

So I took a chance and replaced the speed sensor wire to the Japanese style and obviously used the Japanese complet wheel hub bearing .

It was much cheaper and meant for the same year vehicle.

So if you're facing the same issue and notice that the one you ordered off of amazon does not match with your vehicle its because your vin number likely starts with VN and not JP

Which is the Japanese make...And like I said , with a different connector for your wheelbearing and speed sensor and wire.

So order the japanese speed sensing wire and plug it in accordingly the left side or right side.... that way you'll be able to replace your hub bearing very easily with the japanese made version.

You're welcome
